  • We're continuing our review of the Alhambra classical guitar line featuring Gordon O'Brien and Grant MacNeill. In this sequence, Gordon and Grant are looking at the Alhambra 10p Classical model.
    The Alhambra 10p Model is an all solid wood classical guitar. The top is available in either German Spruce or Red Western Cedar. The back and sides are a solid Indian Rosewood, or in Spanish, Palissandro - this is where the P in the model names comes from.
    The Alhambra 10p is slightly dressier than the 9p - there's an extra layer of purfling on the binding, but otherwise they are the same guitar.
    The Alhambra 10P is an excellent instrument for the developing student of classical guitar, and will grow for years with the player.

    I also knew that the alhambra's spruce guitar have a less brilliant sound than others. which brands, at the same level and cost, offer a brighter sound ?

      Hello Mosbon, Having sold many dozens of spruce top 10P guitars, I’ve never heard anyone say that that they lack treble clarity. The are a very clear and well balanced guitar. Less bass than the cedar top naturally. But if you want to increase treble volume and overall power, look at the new Alhambra 10 Premier…only offered in Cedar, with a complex, new bracing system. It has a noticeable increase in treble but equalled by a fuller bass.
      If you wish to stay with the Bridge fan-brace system of the old 10P it still exists as the 9PA, spruce top model.
      I hope this helps.

      Thanks for your technical expert opinion. I correct myself and apologize, I did not mean "lack of clarity of the treble" .Actually I had read various opinions on the relatively darker sound in certain alhambra models, sometimes even a little dull, of course more with cedar, but also with spruce, compared to similar models from other brands. But even if it were, this is not a flaw, just a difference

    Hi, what is the difference between the Alhambra 1c and the 10p? Who is better?

    • @aymens1318
      @aymens1318 6 лет назад +2

      1C is entry line guitar more fit for study, the 10P is among the concert line. (the price of 10P is multiple fold higher than the 1C)

    • @burritos1000
      @burritos1000 6 лет назад +3

      What about the 10P open pore that goes for about $400USD? 1C at the same store goes for $500USD.
      The 10P presented here is different from the open pore one, it seems. I'm hopelessly confused with the model numbering of Alhambra guitars.
      I'm looking to get a 7P, but it's around $1200USD. I thought the higher number, the better quality/performance.

      @@burritos1000 There is no 10P open pore version....the 10P is a high end model with proper luxurious finish. You have been mistaken it with the entry level 1P open pore

      Yes, that is the confusion. I found that the advertising might be playing a trick by taking the 1 OP (open pore) and calling it 1OP (not 10P). They remove the space and used "O" instead of zero. They don't call it "1P" in the listings around where I'm at.

    Almansa and Alhambra guitars are made under the same roof. The only problem is that Alhambras have that awful logo on the headstock. Almansas look more traditional and sound as good. Thanks for the video.
