@@HorrorBigGameRR Im pretty sure we all knew David J. Pace was the teacher for the random youtube user with the username HorrorBigGameRR. I don't know how that kind of information could ever slip past anyone
Wonderful video. Perfect pacing, just natural sounds and so very engrossing. When the chisel was laid confidently the fingerboard, it was almost edge-of-the-seat! Lovely tone to a beautifully-made instrument.
Better than anything you can watch on TV. I could have watched a two hour movie of it. I am now thoroughly discouraged from ever becoming an even pedestrian luthier
Having a high quality hand made non-production guitar is a beautiful thing. I have one made by a master builder and I never grow tired of playing that guitar. It's an investment that you will he glad you made.
All the precision of a surgeon … a perfect combination of art and science. It was a privilege to be able to watch the guitar's construction. Wonderful - only wish I could afford one!
I work in the car manufacturing industry, mainly high end cars, Bentley, rolls royce, Ferrari. I never look twice at them during my work but this guitar I could look at all day.
You totally should! There's a company called Luthiers Mercantile International (their website is lmii(.com)) and you can order custom kits from them and you choose different guitar types, your own wood from their selection and if you like you can have them pre-prepare parts, like bending the sides, slotting and radiusing the fretboard, gluing and sanding the top and back panels, etc. And they have instructional videos on how to do it too! Give it a shot mate
A jewel made of wood. Shaping the neck looked so brutal to start with, I was thinking what a slip would do to the body! The commitment of real craftsmanship. Wonderful ❤️
The guitar performance is superb, but, the tonality and clarity of the instrument really shines! No sour overtones, no buzzing, no off vibrations to be heard! I want one!
Absolutely Fantastic. Thankyou for your video and your expertise. Truly an expert craftsman. From an old woodworker and woodturner. Trying to get back into the Classical guitar at age 78 with a Raimundo 128. Regards, Mike
I am always deeply moved when I see how a master instrument maker with dedication and craftsmanship creates such a perfect instrument. Happy 2nd Advent and respectful greetings from Germany 🕯🕯🎄🙋♂️
What a beautiful guitar, I’ve never enjoyed watching one made so much - I even found myself leaning forward to blow the dust off the neck I was so involved. 😀
As a fan of yours for many years, I can say it is always a truly uplifting experience to watch these videos of yours, David. I shall purchase one soon.
Thanks for share this amazing video... I can see so much love in this guitar, every detail is a manifestation of how much you love what you do... God's working by your hands! It's a great job, and a pleasure to watch.
Agreed. The attention to detail and pure artistry are wonderful to watch. You can spend $100 on a classical guitar and you get what you get, but this is on a whole different level. The materials and workmanship here are what make guitars like this worth the money, something you can treasure your whole life.
What this video doesn't tell you is: -High-end guitars require high-end materials like rare and valuable wood (top spruce, redwood, rosewood (brazilian rosewood is banned from exploit due to it's so rare), maple, cedar, côcbolo, ebony, Hawaiian Koa...) -How the craftman sands the top bracing, which determines the sound quality. No matter how good the wood is but crappy bracing = crappy sound. So this is the kind of real talent-work. The fact is some Luthiers only make under 3 guitars a year because it takes so much time to make top-end one.
@@graytonw5238 Yes, but still do nt understand the difference between a 3000 dollar handmade guitar and a 18.000 dollar handmade guitar. You can use wood that is 25 years old but is still not and excuse for the 15.000 dollar difference.
An elegant guitar in appearance. Tasteful rosette. Luthier really went at carving the neck with confidence, since once you shave off wood, it's gone, you can't put it back easily or prettily. Most of the tools here are hobby level, with maybe some japanese chisels used on the neck. Well done!
Brava Kim! Thanks for letting me know about this video. I knew violins were made with care, precision, and love but had no idea this was also true for fine guitars. :-)
It was positively therapeutic to watch you work and listen to Kim play. I could have stayed for hours. That is truly a beautiful sounding and looking piece that you have built. I was amazed at the amount of card scraping that you do. Would you consider making a video of how you sharpen your scraper? Clearly you use it so much that you must be a true expert on keeping it honed. Recently I've been struggling with sharpening this useful device. Beautiful work.
It's been said before and I'll say it again: Now I can really appreciate why handmade guitars carry such a high price tag. And if I was 99% sure before, I'm 100% sure now that I never want to attempt to build a guitar! Months of work even for a master who knows every step by heart, has all the tools and the space to work on it. How disappointed it would be for me to invest so much into a build and not have it turn out to be the greatest guitar I could ever imagine.

Wow. After watching such careful and expert workmanship, and a serene video as this, I just have to order one...Hmm. double top. Love that.
This is art. Its beautiful in every way. The care and love for the instrument. How his hands move with the lines and contures. This is craftsmanship.

OKay,, now i understand why a good handcrafted guitar is so expensive
Agreed. The attention to detail and pure artistry are wonderful to watch. You can spend $100 on a classical guitar and you get what you get, but this is on a whole different level. Because you need to be a carpenter, a cabinet maker, a sculptor and preferably a guitarist.
