One improvement is to use a sheet of plastic taped to the hull. When you have painted the Gel coat onto the edge you can then, fold the plastic over the edge with the gel coat underneath and tape it tight to the hull. The Gel coat will not stick to the plastic when hardened and the edge will be the same rounded profile of the rest of the boat, saves a lot of sanding as well. Plastic sheets come from Office supply place - used for older overhead projectors.

Hi! We use a finishing compound called Farecla G3, available on our website here -> www.roostersailing.com/pd/Farcela-G3-Finishing-Liquid-Paste---400g_102518.htm

Another trick is to use mylar (polyester film) applied over the gel-coat to create an almost perfect surface.
