These colossal machines ran on blood and solar power and were capable of razing cities in a matter of hours, and did so, every well. The destruction caused by them ended up blocking out the sun with how much soot and smoke there was. Humans were forced to live on their backs in order to avoid annihilation and in doing so, they began working on a machine. Something small and nimble to kill the Earthmovers from the inside. Unfortunately, due to the lack of the sun, the Earthmovers died out slowly and quietly, so this machine was never utilized. As for the machine with the Minigun, that is a Gutterman, meant for trench warfare and one of the first blood machines. And because it was one of the first, that meant it's blood fueling process wasn't perfected, so until it was, in the coffin on their backs, deserters, POW's and PSTD ridden vets were shoved in there to be used as living batteries. An act so cruel, Hell itself copied this with the creation of the mannequins. It was also stated that each machine was meant to counter the last machine. The Earthmovers were the last machines before the war ended, V1 was a prototype that lost all demand when the war ended. V1 was meant to counter the Earthmover. And V1's blood plating was so that it could kill the inhabitants of an Earthmover to heal before it went for the core.
It's also HEAVILY implied that the "Final War" referenced in Ultrakill is WW1, the only difference is that instead of a 4 year that killed 20 million, in quickly became an arms race of Machines and Engines of War that lasted for 200 years with 100s of millions of souls lost to it before the Great Peace came. Plus Hell was so enthralled by how massive, destructive, and pointlessly violent the Final war was it felt appropriate that the layer of Violence should mimic that war for how just beautifully violent humanity perfected their wars.

Since you fight against Benjamin's brain, it acts as a neat little detail referencing the METROID series, reading the name of the boss as "MTHR BRAIN" Or "MOTHER BRAIN" I know it was a long explanation. I had a lot of trouble wording it properly.
No, its based off of japan, so 1000's japanese translation is Sen. And the THR was pronounced Thor, due to this when you combine all of it, it becomes Sen-Thor. which means "Centaur". It even makes more sense because in the Dante's Inferno book, they were called the same as the earthmovers.
Honestly kinda curious how they would react to some of the other robots from ultrakill, or even the other bosses, Heck the guttermen in the lore are stated to have corpses put inside them as a fuel source, which is why they have coffins on their backs, if you shoot them open you can see skeletal remains of a person inside them, sounds like something ainz would probably do
