- SCARBOROUGH TOWN CENTRE | A walk from Scarborough Train Station through the town centre and down to Scarborough beach and seafront and onwards to the harbour and lighthouse.
In Scarborough Town Centre, you will find a mix of popular high street stores and small independent boutiques. You’ll find many of your favourite high street shops in Scarborough’s Brunswick Shopping Centre which is home to over 30 shops and cafes.
However a day of shopping in Scarborough wouldn’t be complete without exploring many of the independent shops in which you may find hidden treasures, unique gifts, handmade crafts and much more. Bar Street, Huntriss Row and the historic Indoor Market Hall and Vaults are all worth visiting to browse local businesses offering unique and wonderful items.
The main shops at the top end of Scarborough' town centre include Waterstones, Boots, Poundland (next to the Brunswick Shopping Centre), WHSmiths, HMV, Game, Wilkinsons, Burtons, Marks & Spencers plus some well known phone shops.
Scarborough is a resort town on England’s North Sea coast. Its 2 bays with sandy beaches are split by a headland bearing the 12th-century Scarborough Castle. The Victorian Central Tramway funicular train links the town centre with South Bay and its harbour. The Rotunda Museum explores local coastal geology. Scarborough SEA LIFE Sanctuary’s marine displays and the Peasholm Park Japanese gardens are behind North Bay.

As part of its campaign for a safe and vibrant town centre, the Scarborough Town Centre Team in partnership with Scarborough Borough Council, North Yorkshire Police, Scarborough Chamber of Trade, Scarborough Anti-theft group, Scarborough Civic Society and the Federation of small businesses have developed a Town Centre Charter which aims to support the regeneration plans for Scarborough town centre.

I stayed in Scarborough for 2 nights last year i went to a concert at the open air theatre i recognise lot of the places you shown on this video the joke shop on the corner 😂😂.

Some places in scarborough just feel like a different place cos I live in scarborough and in one of the worse areas
This brought back so many memories for me. I used to go to Scarborough as a kid with my mum & dad, sadly both are no longer alive. Part of me wanted to step into this video but be transported back to the 80's & 90's spending time with my mum & dad again wandering around the old place again. I still occasionally visit Scarborough & despite all the various places I've been to around the UK, here will always have a special place in my heart (& memories).
I was walking the same way, last year in April when I was visiting my great auntie, actually I'm from Germany and I loved and enjoyed the video you made...it really cheers me up 🥹🥳😍🥰
We where visiting a year or so ago we paid nearly £50 pounds for two adults return from Scarborough to York it was like a cattle truck we always wanted to take the train but not at that price a local said oh they are always cancelling trains and it’s always like this we will just go for the park and ride again we just wanted to see what the train journey was like nice enough journey ie scenery that’s it we love Scarborough greetings from Scotland 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Loved the video I have not be to Scarborough since the 70's but I remember the walk from the station down the hill to the beach. I always loved the harbour and seeing the fish being unloaded off the trawlers. Happy memories thank you

I been there for a weekend few years ago,it was amazing,this place is magical,alot of shops,good food,amercian diner,lovely beach,tramp and many many more,depo we will be back there soon✌️ great video

Ah the sound of the seagulls always makes me happy 😊 I'm mancunian but strangely enough when I'm there every summer I seem to develop a Yorkshire accent haha well that's what happens when scarbs has been your 2nd home for 27 years 🤣😂💞
it's sad to see the town centre looking a bit shabby now I remember woolworths and all the other shops back in the early to mid 2000s I miss my childhood here old scarbados at least boyes is still there 🔙💗❤

I have great memories of summer holidays in Scarborough, though the trek from East Kilbride in Scotland was long but worth it in the end.
Brilliant video love to see the town of Scarborough which I haven't seen for about 14 years since I went there.
This looked like the same route we took to get to Scarborough, then we took the funicular railway down to the sea level. The ten years I lived in England, I must have been then 15 to 20 times! Always a good time! I miss it greatly. Thanks for giving me another day there! :)

When we stayed there a few years ago, we were at the Norbreck which was up by the castle, and that climb to it from the beach is deadly on your calves.
The climb was easy to the hotel we just got a refund from that shithole

Been to Scarborough thousands of times but funnily never been onto the harbour, we pop over most weeks and park up on sea front under the castle to watch dolphins great video thanks.
I was there 40 years ago, when I was a child and nothing I saw jogged any memories, sadly. Still enjoyed the walk tho..beautiful sunny day :)

Went here about 2 months ago on a week long coach trip,it was fantastic,and the food at the hotel was also great,would reccomend a visit if you can,the people here are also extremely friendly so yeah.

If travelling by car to Scarborough take in a lap on Olivers Mount, stop at the war memorial and the view over Scarborough is magnificent and why not park your car up at the bottom at the Mere cafe and have a walk round the lakes there ?

I watched Little Voice on TV a couple of weeks ago. A great film and a treat for Michael Caine and detective Vera fans. I presume the chippy you mention was where Little Voice and her mum lived above the (derelict) shop in the film. A lovely walk in a lovely town. A very well produced video. Thanks.
The Little Voice flat is on a street near the station, a little walk past the police station. That part was filmed just up the roads from where I lived as a student.
@@danielthompson4463 Thanks for that Daniel. The (now demolished) shop and flat was on Trafalgar St West according to Reel Streets website which I find reliable for film locations. The Leeds chippy is on the corner of Eastborough and Merchants Row.

The Grand Hotel -- If memory serves me, that's the place where James Heriot was stationed when he was in the RAF. The book about it was "Vets Might Fly".
I notice the seagulls there speak the same language as ours. When I go down to the beach, I have two of them that recognize me and sit by the car.

I tend to head to Scarborough to stay at the Bike and Boot Hotel where I edit and upload my videos from. The internet speed there is like lightning ⚡️
It's like my home from home so if I'm never that neck of the wood and that part of the country (i've been filming villages around there this week) I'll head for Scarborough, Stay at the Bike and Boot, and maybe do a video whilst I'm there

The shop at 9:52 selling PIPES of all things ,who in the name of the Lord smokes a pipe ? but , what a shop ,must be the only one of it's kind in U.K. there is one in Brighton but not on that phenomenal scale. You really do great Vid's ,keep 'em coming .

My home town (not that I live there anymore), there are other ways down to the seafront from the station that bring you out at different points from the Spa to the point you came down at Eastborough, dont eat anything on seafront where the seagulls are they atacked me and my kids for our stuff and we ended up losing a phone someone then stole.
Ive always eaten on sea front when i visit never been attacked by a sea gull even when little they watch yes but never attack
@@Doctorwho13 youre lucky then, stole my sons hot dog right out of his hand, wasnt like that when I was young neither but they are an issue now, even the crab stall holders by the pier say they are a nuisence but nothing can be done as they are protected.

The Brunswick doesn't have more than 30 shops and cafes. Wirth the loss of Debenhams and shops associated with it, the closure of Gregg's in the Brunswick there are now quite a few empty units in there.
