The cranes Stand with me in a white wedding dance Stand Black colour it's my veil Do know, I'll let you, To look under my veil There the cranes are flying into a blue distance And they know, Where is my and where is your sadness In my blue eyes I'll be a shadow You'll be a dawn In my walls the mallows will blossom Do know, my memory alive Like a black veil our nights And the cranes are flying into a blue distance And they know, Where is my and where is your sadness And there is no one but us At this minutes the time stops And that memory lives like a bird In my blue eyes
The crane is a symbol of Ukraine and love for the native land. CRANE - called "Bird of God" or "Bird of the Sun". According to Ukrainian beliefs, cranes were also messengers of God. It was believed that cranes take the souls of the dead to the underworld in autumn. And in the spring, on the contrary, they bring the souls of those who are to be born. In the villages, it is believed that cranes nest only near the houses of good people
Thank you for your storys about ukrainian music and culture! In this hard time, when we struggle for our life and freedom, our music helps us to keep the mind, calmness, self-confidence. My greetings from Ukraine, Kharkiv.
In Ukrainian mythology, cranes are a symbol of sorrow for the native land. There are stories depicting warriors who passed away in the battle and turned into cranes to look after the native land in death, return to their families or look at their home once again before leaving it for sure. They can also be an embodiment of someone else's nostalgia, meaning that a person is not necessarily dead, they could just live in another country. Cranes do have other meanings though but this one has the deepest roots. In peaceful times, cranes can be associated with human traits such as loyalty, prudence, kindness, sensitivity, and friendliness. That is why cranes are believed to build nests only near noble, generous and responsive people. One can interpret the song in different ways. When I hear it, I imagine a personification of my native land who sings about losing her people. What is interesting is that she mentions a mallow plant, which is typical of Ukraine. Mallow is a symbol of love for the native land, for people living there, for one's home. Some say that it blooms with blood. So it can be assumed that these losses the girl mentions are related to bloody events of some kind. Probably war, if you think about it. So the girl basically says: "Many will die (the mallows will blossom in my walls or within my, native land's, territory), their souls will fly away. We all know why this happens. They will miss their home and I will miss them, but no one will be forgotten. This is a tragedy that I will keep to myself but today, I will allow myself to share it with you". But the song could also be interpreted as a personal tragedy of a woman who lost someone during the same event that she does not name. The event itself is not important. The song is about living without another but why he or she is not there is not important, it will not change the fact that they are not part of our lives anymore. English translation, however, misleads you into believing that this song is about love by saying that cranes stand in a white 'wedding' dance, but there is no wedding and never was. Just white dance or slow dance if you wish, which is a nice way to describe how cranes fly and the intimacy of this particular dance, which this time is more than you think it is. The song is about love, yes, in some sense, but not a romantic kind. Hope this was helpful ^)
I think this is one of the deepest Ukrainian songs of the past decade. Absolutely love it, heard it many many times and each time it touches me
in Ukraine, cranes symbolize the souls of fallen soldiers
Героям Слава!
Журавлі, лелеки, як і лебеді - одні із самих відданих птахів, вони утримують свої пари на протязі усього свого життя ( а це понад 25 років)
Велике Дякуем.Ведущий красавчик.Все в точку.

The cranes
Stand with me in a white wedding dance
Stand
Black colour it's my veil
Do know, I'll let you,
To look under my veil
There the cranes are flying into a blue distance
And they know,
Where is my and where is your sadness
In my blue eyes
I'll be a shadow
You'll be a dawn
In my walls the mallows will blossom
Do know, my memory alive
Like a black veil our nights
And the cranes are flying into a blue distance
And they know,
Where is my and where is your sadness
And there is no one but us
At this minutes the time stops
And that memory lives like a bird
In my blue eyes

thank you xxx

Неможливо дослівно передати лірику цієї пісні в перекладі. Для українців це звучить божественно.
