Another shining display of QB's community support. Pumping out a video like this is epic, nearly an hour. Thank you Sir William for such a valuable addition to WOT players. Cheers.
This is why QB has been the most successful WoT content creator for 10+ years. I've played the game for more than 10 years and never knew these crew reset tricks. You sir, need a a British OBE title! Thank you for all your educational videos
Small addition for the Accelerated Crew Training segment (14:24); be aware how relevant the crew member you're boosting is, or will become. A good example of a bad situation would probably be most Radio Operators in general, but the Chinese tech-tree specifically; tier 6 is the farthest you'll ever need a dedicated Radio Operator, referring to either the tech-tree medium Type 58, or the premium light Type 64. If you then try to use the Type 64 for crew training, that Radio Operator will likely suck up most-if-not-all of that accelerated training, for absolutely no future benefit. Except the only alternatives aren't ideal either; vehicle exp (limited field mods on a tier 6) or using gold -> free experience. Best to just use any other tank (Type 62 / M41D) instead, if available.
Oh wow man! Yes thank you for this video you taught me so many things that I didn't even know about took a huge amount of effort but much appreciated you did a great job trying to explain something super complicated That's genius! Your technique for grinding a normal crew skill in your tank FIRST that actually is useful before it reaches 100% and THEN when it does reach like 98% or so RESET the skill to get almost 100% brothers in arms without being completely uncompetitive during the process that's brilliant! I had no idea you could even do that or atleast I never thought about trying it! 10/10 huge thumbs up from me!
Awesome video. As someone who's been playing for many many years, I definitely learned a few things I had overlooked. This old dog has learned quite a few new tricks now. Thanks QB.
Having Awareness as a built in thing now makes me want to actually play other tanks in the line and train another crew as opposed to unlock/sell/retrain the same crew up to the ladder. I feel it's really opened up things for more casual players.
It's also a MAJOR nerf for arty players..... all those previously unaware stationary targets, spotted by scouts, now get the chance to move. Which sucks, since the shell flight time for arty is often longer than the activation time for the Target's Perk, even more so with long range shots.
@@GrinnenBaeritt were there so many players above tier 6 without sixth sense? I'm not sure... Besides good arty players don't need stationary targets to influence the game.
@@attitipoco More than you might think... but now those that did now have sound detection as well. As if a huge obvious tracer isn't enough of a clue...

Same. And it just shows how convoluted and confusing the whole system is. No wonder WG has been trying to simplify it with Crew 2.0. But I think a major change like that is _too late_ for this game. They'd be better of working on a whole new game, with a better system.
I have been playing WOT on and off for a long while. But, after watching this specifically skills and perks, I have realized I am my own worst enemy. Now to fix what I have been playing with. I wish I could simply clean the slate and start new but! EXCELLENT AUDIO. This video should be mandatory viewing for all new players!!
I dont play this game. I havent played in many years due to the outrageous and contineous bad descision WG take, howerver i watch every single video because i just love your commentary, analysis and overal your complete honesty with us despite the game being the vehicle of your channel, for that i think we all owe you a thanks mate keep it up!
Damn... I was playing WoT for more than a decade by now and I still learned something new about ways of reducing the cost for training the crew... Awesome work!
As someone who has played for around a decade, I have heard of all of the skills and perks, but never knew the exact percentages that the skills and perks give, along with some hidden information about some of them, so thanks QB.
Thanks, Quicky Baby Lots of help for us older players who fell like newbies. I will have to spend more time in the garage then in the battle making changes to my crews. maybe I will get some better win ratios. Great job as always. A big hello from across the pond in Canada!
Thanks for actually touching on SPGs in this vid. Yeah, it was only brief but other WoT-streamers just ignore the class unless they're spitting on them. In a heavy SPG like the G.W. E-100 I'd even consider one loadout with spall liners. If you get into a map with 3 SPG or very few spots to be effective from, it really helps with counter-battery.
I agree, it's a shame that WG hasn't noticed the fact that about half the gunners skills are basically useless. They should really make "Dead-eye" work differently for different shell-types, rather than simply making it not work with HE. Perhaps enhanced burst radius, or reduced shell flight time. Have to admit, the spall liners do help now, but the GW's fairly resilient regardless... I personally like boosting the ability to receive a ram...and in French arty, do the ramming.. ;)
It is something I need to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon sorting out - it's a bit like DIY I keep putting it off and look for more fun things to do. Good video.
I don't know if it was mentioned, but there is one thing I didn't realize for a long time: the premium/reward vehicles can train your crew when it is below 100% basic training. So if you don't care about your premium/reward vehicle stats you can use it to train the fresh crews up to 100%. And here is the second important thing: only after the crew has 100% it can be trained with books, so if you don't have the gold to get the 100% crew from the start, train it in the premium then put it back in their original tank, no skill reset needed.
Speed it up even more by putting it on accelerated training, put only one sub-100 crew member at a time, use a commander with Mentor, and all the rest of the crew with experience. Rotating them out this way, will actually be faster than trying to do the same thing with the whole crew. Your stats won't suffer anywhere nearly as badly. Also, you can train crew members up for vehicle you haven't yet got (but have researched)...
best guide qb, i like to see a good player without using premium ammo and the impact of that in high tiers financially and what the best tactic for that
Good job QB, I would just like to add a comment on the resetting the crew skills and moving the crew to another tank. If you use a book and actually assign a skill before retraining the crew, no XP will go to the major qualification, the crew member will be at 90% (if you use credits), but the skill/perk will not lose any XP. This is sometimes useful when you have BIA crew with second skill/perk at under 50%. If you retrain the crew that way, they will be at 90% percent in a new tank, but with a working BIA perk.
I've said this before, but I would like this video twice if I could. Thank you so much. Great knowledge here, and I appreciate the time you spent laying it out.
Great video, thanks for explaining the entire crew system, prob the worst and most complicated part about WoT lol. i will note I disagree about Sound detection. While you can hear around 75% where the shell is coming from, sound detection gives you a precise bearing so you can dodge perfectly if you pay attention and move your tank accordingly. Best for faster heavies and mediums. This is crucial at tier 8-10, where Arty will start to chip off 200-300+ dmg per shot even if they land a shell near you. However, it is not a priority and should only be taken after your view range skills and BIA... it also depends on the tank your playing and your overall preference.
As it activates "at the moment of the shot", there's also an argument that you get a little more warning than simply hearing the incoming shell, especially with SPGs that have longer flight times.
@@ballistyxwot4577 As I said, you can hear 75% of the shot. which is mainly general direction. Vs Sound detection that gives you an accurate bearing with more time to react. we agree lol
When considering taking preventative maintenance you should also consider how often your engine gets hit. For example German heavy tanks usually have their engines behind the lower plate so their engines get hit very often.
Another thing you can do is if a low tier tank (say the French B1 heavy) has the same crew layout as a higher tier tank (the French autoloading heavies) you can develop crews on the lower tier tank whilst grinding the line.
One thing I thought of that you didn’t mention was the fact that if you have a premium tank and wanna use a crew from another tank it has to be from, for instance, a medium tank to medium tank. Can’t be from medium to heavy and vice versa despite if you train a crew for a premium tank or tech-tree vehicle. The tank you want to transfer your crew to must be the same class like the one you were using the crew in.
Hi QB, great video ty. I have a question about Accelerated Crew Training. What happens when a crew member that has say 7 skills is fully trained, and the other members in the tank have more skills to go? It seems the icon gets stuck to the fully trained member once you exceed the 7th skills on the other members. (because they are stuck forever as the lowest trained member in the tank) Does that mean the other members never again benefit from the Accelerated Crew Training? Anyone else notice this with a highly trained crew?
Great content QB! Much needed for new players and experienced players as well. For sure we'll all benefit if you continue this series. PS: Was I the only one who always thought that it's 'safe storage' instead of 'safe stowage'? IDK why but 'storage' made more sense in my head. 😄
I thought I didn't need this but I'm learning new things and not even half way done the video. TY QB for making this 'quirky' crew system more digestible.
Sound detection works well for arty players because it lets you know if counter arty is aiming at you. I also take controlled impact with my arty because I've had sooo many games where the enemy try to ram me. I won some game because they try to ram kill me and I killed them trying to ram me...included when an Is7 tried to ram me in my 261....he died, I didn't :)
On reusing 100% crews from premium tanks (20:22+): You don't need to use 250k or 100k crew books like QB to keep their training--you can use 2x 20k crew books which are much easier to come by. You only need enough XP to soak up the 39,153 XP needed to go from 90% to 100% of the major qualification. As @nick5062 wrote, getting to about 64% of the 1st skill is sufficient, however you do it.
Really informative and useful video, thank you! One mention about the other 3 gunner specific skills and perks, just like dead eye, you only need to have them on one gunner, if your tank happens to have multiple gunners (like some SPGs, high tier Swedish TDs). Same goes for all radio operator skills, tho this is even more niche knowledge, since there are so few tanks that have 2 radio operators, and really only one of the skills is useful. While view range is definitely key on the other 4 classes, I find it less important on SPGs. If you find yourself in the situation that you need to scout as an arty, you're most likely in quite a deep trouble already and the extra view range from recon / situational awareness isn't going to help you much. Which is why I would rather take mentor for artillery commander instead of recon after concealment and BiA, so you can get more important skills for mobility and firepower for other crewmembers faster. This is also why I never take optics/binocs for arty cause I value taking more shots more accurately early game more when it still matters, rather than those very rare occasions when you might be able to outspot and take out a lone enemy late game.
Hey QB you forgot to mention how powerful intuition is for auto loaders which allow you to swap out an entire clip in seconds. Much larger advantage to auto loaders than auto re-loaders.
Little confused... if I have a 100% crew with no skills and I use a crew book for 250,000 xp I get the first skill and 50% of the 2nd right off the bat. That doesn't seem to add up to the numbers you have listed. And I'm not talking about any 0 skill crew members (even if I was it just does the same thing but for skills 2 & 3 as opposed to 1 & 2). But overall a very in depth and well thought out video as always QB!
Remember the skill progress is not linear, getting from 95 to 100 is significantly longer than 25 to 30 for example. 0-50 goes very fast so a 250k book will give an entire skill and a half.
Fantastic video, many thanks! Glad to see 6th Sense has finally been made universal haha. I haven't played WoT for so long, but your vids are really making me want to re-install it :P Probably a steep re-learning curve from since I last played.
I would even go so far to use only 2-3 radio operators per nation (so there is only one available). The way the radio mechanics work it does not make a difference if you have an untrained one on your vehicle.
Hi Quickbaby. Nobody in game was able to answer this. What happens when all your crew skills are trained? Does the new incoming xp go directly to free xp bank?
I've looked and only found a video on the HE changes. That said, I've typed in every KEY WORD on ammo and was looking for info (Albeit from you not WG) on Types of rounds and their purposes. Also when to use what round, IE: Use intuition. Thank you in advance sir!
i have played so much that i have 10 full crews that have no more skills to learn, and i have so much of the crew books, the only crew that i have not that much trained on is the italy tds

Really useful - could do with an update on skills v perks though.
Great video! A crew member that is dead at the end of the battle won't get all the xp for training, I think you didn't mention it.
Very good and useful video. Thank you.
Huge knowledge much appreciated
Good deal. Great video for information on today's current crew skills and what's what and which ones are higher priority over others!
Great in-depth guide, very much liked it. Congrats!
QB for Knighthood...Here here !!! 🤘😎
Hey QB you forgot to mention how powerful intuition is for auto loaders which allow you to swap out an entire clip in seconds. Much larger advantage to auto loaders than auto re-loaders.
Thank you a lot for taking the time to do this video.
Great video QB, thank you for putting it together. Lots of tweaking to do on my crews now, oh the pain. XD
and here it come, crew 2.0 =)))
I feel like there could be a flowchart. I’d love a written guide on resetting skills and perks, what to do and when…
Hudge chunk of knowledge, thank you :)
I redid my whole crew ahhhhhhhhhh!😂 thanks quick!
Thank You So Much for This!
safe stowage, is in my opinion a must have perk on a tiger 1
And all french auto-loaders... and the leopard...WG seem to have put them on the outside of the vehicle!
Very useful and even i who have played wot for quite some time learned a lot thank you so much QB
Fantastic video, many thanks! Glad to see 6th Sense has finally been made universal haha. I haven't played WoT for so long, but your vids are really making me want to re-install it :P Probably a steep re-learning curve from since I last played.
awesome video, i literally didnt know 90 percent of what youve said here lol
This was great , will try to change or better train my TD Crew's . Thank you :))
Excellent work.
thanks
good guide
I've looked and only found a video on the HE changes. That said, I've typed in every KEY WORD on ammo and was looking for info (Albeit from you not WG) on Types of rounds and their purposes. Also when to use what round, IE: Use intuition. Thank you in advance sir!
Great guide thanks 👍
Excellent summary :) thank you so much!
you gave me trama as i loggin in and noticed one of my tanks has a 7 perk crew no 0 perk male.
i have played so much that i have 10 full crews that have no more skills to learn, and i have so much of the crew books, the only crew that i have not that much trained on is the italy tds
Great work QB
Learn a lot, thanks
