    Very nice video. The original Concorde Room was in T4. And passengers boarded Concorde directly from the lounge.

      @@mygreygapyear In JER, sometimes you can board from the lounge. Just depends on the gate. No idea why it's not the same gate. It's not as if JER is as busy as Heathrow... 😂
      If they do their refurb of JER, hopefully they can dedicate a gate.

    • @Locutus
      @Locutus 4 месяца назад +1

      @@mygreygapyear There about 5 flights a day on average to LHR. I think there are flights to Gatwick 3x a week and weekly flights to places in Europe, such as Madeira, Malaga, Ibiza, etc. A charter company charters BA CityFlyer to fly the Madeira route. I had a quick look at prices, and it's about £400 per person return, including bags.

      Sure, inspired by people following their dreams and providing informational content to allow others like myself with aspirations to aim for in the future. No apologies for liking all of MGGY content and will leave positive comments to encourage future contributions from this relatively new channel. I suppose I come from the school that if you’ve nothing positive to say then say nothing, sadly not all agree with this outlook.

    Not first class but reminiscent when many years ago (Terminal 4 years ago !) arrived in on BA from Delhi. Fairly sure we were first flight in so I was first in Business Arrivals Lounge with untouched breakfast buffet. So had breakfast on plane, breakfast and shower in Terminal 4 arrivals, more breakfast in Terminal 1 lounge before offer of warm bacon roll in shuttle up to Manchester (very retro !). I was a fan of BA Lounge at Terminal 1 including day I sat next to Hugh Grant but that is a whole different story !

      @@mygreygapyear it was a quiet Sunday morning. Great views across the apron from window seats. My wife and I were virtually only people there when Hugh arrived….whilst I was in shower, he sat virtually next to us because of a unique single seat in a corner whereby opening a broadsheet you wouldn’t know who was there unless standing adjacent. Obvious he didn’t want to be disturbed….upon return, feeling frustrated why someone hadn’t used array of other seating, I then had to do sign language to my wife who was there !

    Great video! The Concorde room does have great service, and makes it feel like you’re not even in an airport before your flight. I just wish there was a way to access this when there is no F cabin available without being GGL. I think BA Golds flying Club World should have the option of being able to pay to use it.
    As a note, not sure when this was filmed, but Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle is no longer served here or onboard as of very recently

      @mygreygapyear  6 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your kind comment and support, it was filmed in September last year, I did read something about the champagne changing, I wonder, was it a downgrade or just something different?

    • @Nova-gk1wl
      @Nova-gk1wl 6 месяцев назад +1

      @mygreygapyear Laurent Perrier have pulled out of the travel market. In other words, they're no longer selling airlines their champagne at knock-down prices in the hopes of tempting wealthy clientele to buy it in the shops!
      The replacement signature champagne now in use in the CCR is Pommery. Having (just!) managed to get a glass of LPGS before it was retired, and now being GGL and thus having tried the Pommery, I must say they taste very similar.
      Then again, I'm not a champagne expert and I did taste them on separate occasions. All I can say is they're both very quaffable and the CCR staff make sure your glass is never empty!

      Part of the reason why it's so nice is that it's so exclusive. I'd rather that the First Lounge had slightly better service, e.g. by reinstating the full at-seat food ordering that was introduced during Covid but later reduced to only being for drinks.

    • @nickf619
      @nickf619 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@mygreygapyear Not sure it’s necessarily a downgrade as I think there’ll be about 3 or 4 replacing it in rotation. I do love it but I’m not an expert so can’t say if the new ones are better or worse. I suspect Laurent Perrier wasn’t prepared to sell it any longer to BA at previously agreed prices. I believe another airline in Europe has also removed LPGS from service so not just BA

    • @nickf619
      @nickf619 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@Nova-gk1wl Agree with you about the First lounge with QR ordering, prior to covid they also had a small menu which you could order from and they brought it to you, so post covid the first lounge is worse than pre Covid food wise anyway

    I cant help but think the Cathy lounge in t3 is nicer or, the concord room isn't much better than

    • @Nova-gk1wl
      @Nova-gk1wl 6 месяцев назад +1

      The Cathay First lounge in T3 is pleasant enough but it's rather cramped compared to the CCR. I also found it a bit understaffed considering it's table-service only. They've also become stingy on the drinks recently, restricting availability of some of the better champagnes etc.
      The one thing it's notably better at is showers - the CCR shares its showers with the Galleries First lounge and they're frankly hospital-grade vs the high end hotel-type ones in the Cathay First lounge.

    • @mygreygapyear
      @mygreygapyear  6 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your comment, but I don't think I said it was *only* for First Class passengers, as I wrote in the description, both Concorde Rooms are for First Class passengers and Gold Guest List passengers. In the video I believe I said it was for first class passengers and omitted to say that GGL also had access (or did I?)

    • @Nova-gk1wl
      @Nova-gk1wl 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@richardstreet7518technically speaking there isn't a separate Concorde Room card anymore; any GGL member can now get in. That lowers the entry bar to 3000 tier points each year after your initial qualification. Still not exactly easy to attain, but a bit easier than 5000!
