- After a much needed break over the end of December and January, it's time once again to hit the ground running with a room full of insane musicians warming up before hitting the stage. I didn't have any of my good gear with me, so I had to shoot this on my iPhone XS max... Thus the audio levels aren't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but this Vestal tune was too epic not to capture. So here are my friends Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent, their killer band and few epic subs filling in to help them out.
All the best and keep rollin,
RC
Band.

Dan Tyminski - mandolin

I think Scott Vestal gets better every time I hear him. Diffinatly Beast Mode banjo man
Still my favorite banjo player!
Holy Crap! Scott Vestal is amazing.
Vestal on banjo is at the top of the game and the other solos on guitar and fiddle were top notch.
Oh my goodness .. Scott on the banjo .. how awesome !!!
Vestal is a hoss! Love it man
Oh man, Scott Vestal! He's one tricky player - and egregiously underrated imo! Seems like we should see him a lot more for how good he is. Thanks for sharing this!
Honestly, these older great players just don't put themselves out there on the modern platforms enough.
Patrick McAvinue knows how to put out the entertainment. Some real accurate fingering there...Scott was killing that banjo!! Keep up the good work!
Here’s what I love about Scott, he plays traditional style (sorta) in a very innovative way if that makes sense? He gives the best of both worlds! Definitely one of my favorites! Thanks for the vid Russ!
Very well said. Love his style
That was smoking... I've only heard those Stealth banjo's a few times he makes it sing real good.
Thats my uncle! #ScottVestal
Holy shit, I would never thought a banjo could be played within such taste and authority!!!
I have missed your videos RC but what a great come back. Scott can make that banjo talk. Wow!
That is a different looking banjo!
I and my banjo picking pal of 44 + years, Wayne Harris, live in the DFW area of NE Tx where Scott and his brother Curtis grew up. Curtis is now in the auto
business in Cleburne, Tx. Back n tha day when Scott was just learning his craft, he used to pester other bnjo pickers to teach him their hottest licks. Looks
like he learn't them well + a few of his own. Anybody notice Dailey and Vince and Tyminski on mando?
Wow, that was fantastic. A great group of musicians jamming. A few famous, some underrated and others nearly unknown. Holy smoke all I can say is that these guys can really play.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great music 👌. I like Scott's neck on his banjo. Cool
Vestal really is amazing. Thanks 81crowe.
How did I miss this. I must've been dead. Okay, Scott is amazingly fast. My friend Matt Cruby, formally of Steve Gulley and New Pinnacle plays a stealth. Another great musician.
I was lucky to meet Scott and pick with him in the ‘80’s when he was with Southern Connection. It wasn’t long after that Doyle Lawson decided to hire their band! Scott has gone on to be a “trailblazer”!! Great vid! Thanks!!
Thank you for entertaining me this evening A lot of energy what a challenge it must be to keep it together 🏠💐
Keep bringing the good stuff. Most of the world never gets to see or hear this.
How could someone dislike this video?!?!
Keep them coming RC!
cclegg95 the video I shot of Béla jamming has 10 dislikes now. I guess you can’t make everyone happy 🤷🏼♂️
81crowe some people just don’t know good music when they hear it
I was totally thinking the same!
Yes sir son! Get it!
Scott can blow all other banjo players out of the water!!
Wow!!!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Mind blowing!! Great job:)
At one time Doyle Lawson had 3 Texans in his band. Russell Moore - Pasadena, Tx. Scott and Curtis Vestal - Arlington, Tx.
Thats an interesting 5 string Scott's playing. Haven't seen one like that before?
Amazing!
Lucky mistake for us! Doesn’t get much better than this.
And thanks for the great hand shots!
Killer! Greetings from Lexington, KY!
What a jam! Just think, if you practiced for like a million hours collectively, you too could be that good :)
SONNNNN!!!
SAAAAAAAAA - MAAAAAAAASH!
Wow my dads cousin makes music! Kool
Killer video Russ! Many thanks for all you do! What tune was this?
Amazing amazing video!!! Who is the guitar player to the right of dan tyminski?
👍
Great tun played by all involved, but my favorite part was seeing you film via the mirror
Thought that was Dan Tymynski on mando for sec lol
That's because it is Dan Tyminski! haha
