If Gomert has a heart why isn’t t he trying to review gun laws that will stop people who cannot pass a psychological check get their hands on guns. Also what about creating a society where people are not afraid, buy finding out what the fear is and teaching children that we are the same regardless of skin colour.

Let me ask you something if you are thinking more gun laws are the answer. There are lots of laws against murder on the books right now but did this Magically stop the shooter? The fact the republicans are smart enough to see the gun isn’t the problem it’s the mentally disturbed person behind it doesn’t mean the republicans don’t care , in fact it’s just the opposite. It should be Blatantly Obvious that a person who’s common sense is so off the rails that he has no problem with slaughtering 20 or 30 kids is not going to have the right mind to fallow ANY gun laws that are made. We need to fix the shooter not the law abiding people.

I just read Uvalde School is closing. The kids don't want to go back. I wouldn't want to either. These kids will probably get PTSD over this like so many other School shooting survivors have. The burden is now on the Health Care system to help them; a system that the GOP voted against in funding. SMH They just don't care at all.

Most 18 year olds, I hope, are not dumb enough to believe they'd be as lucky as Kyle Rittenhouse was. I also hope that most 18 year olds are not raised to be racist haters. But just in case, a simple questionnaire might be a sensible requirement to receive a voter ID card. A lot can be gleaned from a few words, provided the reader knows what to look for.

The boy from Uvalde who survived and was interviewed broke my heart , as someone siren blaring interrupted his interview the look in his eyes was total panic both he and his mother looked as though flight and hiding was uppermost in their minds.
Another one that broke my heart was the mother who along with her child that survived the shooting went to bring flowers where they had crosses and pictures of each child that died. The child asked her mother; "what picture will you use for me? That literally brought me to tears. The child fears it will happen to her.

Who benefits from mass shootings in America? Let’s follow the money. First, the gun manufacturers benefit because gun sales always spike after highly publicized shootings, due to increased fear, hysteria and paranoia among the public. Then the gun manufacturers pay the gun lobbies and NRA, so they benefit next. Then the NRA pays the Republicans, who also benefit from this blood money. Then the Republicans pass laws that make it easier to purchase guns, which leads to more gun sales and increased profits for the gun industry. Republicans then also spread extreme ideologies like the great replacement theory and other wacko conspiracies, which leads to more radicalization among the gullible masses. Then they don’t fund mental health, which leads to more crazy behavior. All this combined leads to more mass shootings. And so the cycle continues. Republicans are for the killers and mass shooters.

I worked on a project in Southern Louisiana next to the Texas border in 2000-2001. I was shocked by the number of Confederate Battle Flags hung EVERYWHERE or on bumper stickers, as were the similar signs posted on businesses, lawns, cars, etc., that read "The South Will Rise Again!". Almost every truck had a gun rack in the cab with real long guns in it. The old Confederacy has never gotten over losing their war to remain a slave owning disaster and they still want to secede. Now that the GOP has accepted the violent authoritarian mindset of the Confederates, they're the vehicle for them to try to secede again. And they don't plan on doing it peacefully.

Our dinner conversation with my 14 yo was how to survive a school shooting, including covering herself with blood and playing dead if she can't run away, this insanity has me ready to leave this fractured country. I am a UK citizen who follows US news/politics very closely! The law restricting anyone under 18 worked for the Uvalde incident. The gunman had to wait until he was 18 to get the guns.... Of course a the 18 year old passed a background check, he did not have time to earn his criminal background as an adult... Had the legal age to buy a firearm have been 21, at least he had 3 years of being an adult to prove he had criminal potential, but allowing a person to be considered for a gun based on criminal background before there is time for him to commit a crime as an adult is crazy... Most times when someone has a record as a juvenile, those records are closed and do not show up on a general background check....

Why don't you pick two out of the next alternatives.: not allowed to have/buy a gun before you are 21; universal requirements for safely storing guns, 2 weeks waiting time before you can get a gun; proof of knowledge of basic safety rules; funding research again about gun safety; red flag laws; licensing; background checks; registration. After 2-3 years analyse the data, make adaptations to the gunlaws and add one more. Keep doing this until the amount of gunviolence is comparable to other developed countries.
If I was a teenager, I would absolutely REFUSE to go to school. I would homeschool. However, when I was in school in the late 70s and early 80s, homeschooling wasn't really an option. But I still would have refused to go be a target. I hope this is what all current school children will do.
School children have the right to go to school and be educated with their friends by trained educators. I cannot understand how more Americans are not standing up for the right to life of American school children against politicians looking after the interests of gun manufacturers and a minority of gun fanatics.

But secondly, America already has something unique to them "school resource officers", which to a non-American like me sounds like a manager of school supplies, but turns out they are private armed police officers in schools.
