I have owned one since new and, while other synths and workstations have come and gone, this one remains. The screen will probably fail at some point and will require a firmware update as well. Mine did and it is apparently a very common problem. I found that the XV and Fantom patch collection from Roland Clan has better sounds and is easily loaded into the user bank with the patch librarian. If fatter sounds are needed they can be layered. Many of the patches respond to aftertouch so an EV5 control pedal assigned to aftertouch is worth it or at a pinch, assign the D beam for more interesting modulation. The arpeggiator and sequencer are brilliant and there is hours of fun to be had exploring the possibilities they present. My only real gripe is the shortage of MFX when using the sequencer. 16 channels and only 3 MFX allowed in total but there's always a work around.
@@simbaking6338 If screen of your Juno-G isn't completely dead, you likely can fix it. You can check it first by putting Juno-G upside down (or almost upside down so you can see a screen). Then power Juno G and screen should come back fine. You may try few different positions of Juno-G if first time wasn't successful.
Note, once you press category button current patch automatically changes to the first user patch of corresponding bank. The easiest way to save your favorite patches is to save them as first patches of each bank, accessible by pressing Categories buttons (Piano, Kbd/Org, etc). This way you can have 9 favorite patches and 1 drum kit. You can easily set up 9 user pianos this way by simply changing category patch belongs, so whatever you press Category button you will end up with favorite patch. Similarly, you can put other favorite patches as user patches no 2, 3 in the same bank. You can use another strategy by putting every favorite patch under piano (or any other) category, so you will know all your favorites are there. Aforementioned ways are much easier to use than "Favorites" bank of Juno_G, but you can do that too if you like. Procedure is detailed in page 28 of manual.
Hello friend,... great demonstration as always. I have to slow down to buy this thing. My studio is full. But thanks anyway,... you can hear!! best regards
Please how is this keyboard different from the Dunos S and please can you use the sliders on this particular, I mean the Juno g you're playing, to control the volume of the individual parts. Thank you!
Once in sequencer track Microscope view, velocity of selected note is displayed at the upper bar together with position, pitch, length (manual, p. 99). Select desired parameter by using navigational buttons and then you will be able to change values. Another option is to use Event list ("View"). Also you can set desired note velocities of arpreggios and drum patterns.
Is there a way to preset volume levels? Our keyboardist has trouble on live shows keeping volumes level when switching presets, some are super loud others quiet.
You can save your patches as parts of performance. This way you will be able to control and save performance with adjusted volumes per part. More, in performance mode you can use 3 MFXs instead of only one in Patch mode, not to mention, layer sounds, control panning if needed, play splits and even send different parts to different outputs. So, I highly recommend to set up your patches as parts of performance and change performances instead of patches during live shows. You quickly will find you can do much more this way. You can even take another step further and use song data instead since performance data is saved together with a song.
@@calebdoroteo8181 You can. Download and install Juno-G midi driver, Editor and Librarian apps. To connect simply press "USB" button on Juno-G either in Patch or Performance mode. Then, by pressing F2 you will enter midi mode (if it's not set at start up). Once you launch Editor app it will tell if your Juno-G is connected or not. Too bad, Editor app runs on very low resolution so I don't advice to use it a lot. Besides, Juno-G can't stream digital audio data to laptop. And, if screen of your Juno-G isn't completely dead (it's lit and showing something) it's possible to fix it, but it is very cumbersome and time consuming, and you can broke display for real this time.
If anybody watches this video and is considering buying on with a broken screen, there’s a guy in the uk who makes his own replacement screens with arduino and they work like a charm. You just have to replace it yourself
For all you newbie keyboard aficionados out there: That's precisely where the PSS 4/580 goes; ON TOP of all the expensive stuff. . And you're a nobody to us until you understand why.
All the tones, effects and recording you need.Screens sold separately.
Lol
Im buying this this month!! Always wanted this beat kept secret!!
Ahh! I've got the Juno Gi arriving tomorrow, it'll be interesting to see how different it is.

There is indeed always a work-around. That kind of creativity is all part of the fun!
Yup...i own one and the screen is gone.I actually know 5 other guys who owns one also & their screens are gone as well...sigh,what a major defect.

The synths keep me warm. Always the synths... Glad you liked the vid :)
Hi...could you explain how to save your mostly used sounds to 'Favorites' plz?
Ah too long ago sorry, I don't have it anymore. You can still google up the manual though

when you said blinding heat your face expression reminded me of John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten. But maybe that's just your public image.
Ah clever wordplay there!

Yes those sliders are for the tracks you've recorded as digital audio.
I got mine years ago & still use it. The manuals are not the best. That’s why I’m looking on You Tube to learn how set the velocity .
I think that function is in patch edit.

Could I use this as a digital version of a 106?
Yep.

I was so fortunate and found one for $275 USD

I guess you could save the sounds you use as synth tones, the only modified parameter being volume.
Cool thanks well give it a try

Can you show us how to connect the keyboard to the laptop using usb cable. Thank you
Sorry Caleb, this keyboard is gone from me now. It'll be in the manual though, just Google "Roland Juno G PDF"
My lcd is broken that's why I can't setup it to usb mode

Hello
I have never heard of this synth in my life. I need to stop telling people I know about gear.
I was just telling a guy today about ho I regret selling this one!
If anybody watches this video and is considering buying on with a broken screen, there’s a guy in the uk who makes his own replacement screens with arduino and they work like a charm. You just have to replace it yourself
You can also find the windows 10 driver hack and turn off driver signature enforcement during the install and it’ll work flawlessly with a computer
It's definitely a synth you'll want to keep alive for a long as possible. Still sounds contemporary today, 15 years on :)
