      Her father is an exceptionally good man. Homophobic ideals has been drilled into his head for over half a century and he worked to undo that mindset because of the love he had for his daughter. This woman… this woman gave birth to her… and still won’t relent. Not even for her own child. That to me is the definition of evil.

    callie is a bride, but her mothers not the mother of a bride because she isnt a mother at all. a mother doesnt treat their child like that.

      lola madelein Dude it’s not that she doesn’t love Callie. But when you have parents who believe the world is one way and see their child doing something they see as their downfall, they can’t help but feel unnerved. Many people have to go through that. But it’s because of the love for that child that they begin to act harsh. In their eyes, their child will go to hell. It’s sad but that’s just how we are biological equipped:

      @@Mini-Toast_ Callie's mother doesn't get off the hook just because her shitty behavior is motivated by love. OP is right. A mother doesn't treat her child like that, using the faith her daughter has been following and finding strength and comfort in all her life as a weapon because she's marrying another woman.

    Keep scrolling for a rant
    FIRST OF ALL Callie's mother doesn't even acknowledge that she got in a horrible car accident and almost died. Along with her baby. But yet her mother did not visit her during her 3 MONTH period of being in the hospital, nor did she even ask anything about it! But once something with Callie involving her love life pops up BAM there's the ignorant mother everyone's come to hate. Callie was so excited for her wedding and showing her mom her veil but she got turned not, not the first time this has happened.

    When her dad did this, Callie lashed out. When her mother, a woman she used to know as a role model based on the whole veil thing, essentially disowned her- Callie can't do anything but be utterly hurt.

      Callie's dad did the same thing, but at least he didn't lash out at her grand daughter saying she's a basterd.

    • @audreymikaelson4973
      @audreymikaelson4973 10 месяцев назад +3

      Callie’s dad is a good man. He reversed his outdated ways of thinking and unlearned his internalized homophobia for her. Most importantly- he TRIED. He was there for her. He fought for her by fighting against something that had been ingrained into his brain for over half a century. You can tell that his daughter was everything to him. Callie’s mom? I don’t doubt at all that she loved her daughter. But I don’t think she loved her daughter more than she loved herself. And I don’t think she loved Callie unconditionally. Parental conditional love is so damaging, and to me, that makes her ten times worse than anything her father used to be.

      @audreymikaelson4973 so if your child does something you don't morally agree with you're supposed to just go along with it? Love doesn't work that way. Her words were harsh but she was true to her beliefs.

    I can't understand it when people say that God hates gays. I'm pretty damn sure that God doesn't hate anyone and if he did he'd been the one to judge...not you! Just let God sort it out. That's part of his job anyway.

    It might be devastating to not see your child in heaven. But what’s even more devastating, what is soul crushing, is being on one path. A path of acceptance, love, and family, and have the rest of the world trying to force you into another. A path of hate, discrimination, and hypocrisy. What’s devastating is being who you are and having the world lash out at you for it.
