  • Hi
In this video I'll perform a printhead replacement on an Epson WorkForce WF-7620. The procedure is the same on the WF-7110 and the WF-7610.
The entire repair process is relatively simple and can be done by anyone.
↓ Tools and things needed ↓
    - Phillips Screwdriver
    - Tweezers
    - Paper towels (Can be useful)
    - Latex Gloves
    - Of course, the Printhead
    The printhead code is: FA13031
The printheads with part codes FA13001, FA13002 and FA13003 are OLD REVISIONS, NOT RELIABLE!!! IF SOMEONE TRIES TO SELL YOU THIS PART CODE DO NOT BUY, EVEN FOR A LOW PRICE!
Did I help you saving money telling you how to fix your printer by yourself? If that's the case and you would like to contribute actively supporting my channel and the content I make, you can donate any amount you want (even 1$ is more than appreciated) to help me create better videos at the link www.paypal.me/paolomarcelli
Of course if you don't want to donate I'll still be here for any question regarding printer repair.
    How to contact me:
If you need help fixing your printer, leave a comment under the video you're watching. I always reply to the comments whenever I have some time.
For commercial requests, send me an email to the address you can find in the "about" section of my RUclips Channel. Please consider that any email received for any reason other than commercial requests will probably be ignored. I don't have a service center and I don't do repairs for other people, I just make RUclips videos on how to fix printers :)

Thanks a lot. I just used your video to repair our 5 year old WF-7620 (it is a real shame it is giving up so quickly). This is saving us some money, but above all it is one big multi functional printer that at least for now does not end up on the junk yard and gets a new lease of life. The FA13031 was quite hard to find though (only one eBay vendor in Spain still had stock of new heads).

Thank you ADCSFX for your thorough video. I was able to follow your instructions to clean, as opposed to replace the printhead in my WF-7620 and IT WORKED! Saved me $100 for the part and $300 if I had to replace.

Just cleaned the print head of my WF-7610 with distilled water (that was a tip in a forum) following part of your tutorial.
In fact very easy and the risk to break something is very low if you are cautious.
    A brand new printer.
    Thanks!

Know a good place to buy print heads? Trying to avoid ebay and those 3rd party walmart listings. All of the parts sold there are guaranteed to fail or ship with blocked channels. Print tests always have missing lines, even after head cleanings. They are shipping junk as so-called refurbished. I don't mind refurbished, as long as all the channels work consistently, but most of these Chinese sellers are scrounging up scraps and reselling them. Model is wf-7610. My last ditch effort was to buy a wf-3520 for cheap and swap the head, but that option is out since they're now selling for over $100 (or googles silly results showing $800 on shopping). Odd thing is, ebay used to sell sealed print heads that came from epson. Since the 7610 is an old model, I would at least have expected them to sell heads for the newest models like the wf-7820, but nothing.. if i bought that new printer, there would be no head replacement options for it same as the 7610 on ebay.

In Italy I can buy printheads directly from Epson by their authorized dealers and service centers, try contacting an epson authorized dealer and ask them if they can sell you the head, it's very expensive though.

You did a great job on this video. This is my printer, and my problem is not so much that I need a new printhead, but when I do a nozzle check there is one line in black that always has gaps, no matter how many cleaning cycles I do. I think I can take out the printhead and soak it in cleaning fluid (ammonia). Perhaps this will clear out those nozzles. I don't know for sure.
But you said the sponge pads under the printhead can be replaced. I would love to know how to do that. I have run so many cleaning cycles that I think this pad is soaked with old ink. Can you tell me how to do that?
One final point --- please put your camera on a fixed focus. Every time you put your arm in the scene it focuses on your arm instead of the printer.
    Thanks again. You teach well!

    • @PaoloMarcelli
      @PaoloMarcelli  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Douglas
You can try to soak the printhead with cleaning solution but that actually doesn't require that you remove it from the printer, but more on this later.
About the "pads that can be replaced" I meant the waste ink pads, they are contained in the maintenance box, and you can change the maintenance box on your printer when it reaches the end of its service life with no problem, but it's not needed to replace it before.
About the manual cleaning of the printhead, you can just unlock the carriage (as I've done in the video) then deposit some cleaning solution (not pure ammonia, you could damage the printhead, use at max. 30% ammonia in 70% distilled water) on the black pad on the purge unit. When the pad is totally filled with cleaning solution you can just move very slowly the head on top of it, keep in mind that when you'll move the head on the purge unit the pads will come up making contact with the bottom of the printhead (nozzle plate) so it's actually the same effect as removing the printhead and soak it externally. Also you don't need to remove the cartridges, so no air will get inside of the printhead.
Finally, for the camera focus issue, I'm aware of this problem but I don't have a solution for this :/ I use my phone to record that is a Huawei P10 Plus, I don't use a camera with any settings to record professionally, but I always try my best not to block the view.
Thank you anyway for all the suggestions, and if you need anything else feel free to contact me again :)
      Paolo M.

Hi. What an interesting and useful discussion forum! I wonder can anyone tell me if the main board for a WF7610 is identical to the one fitted to the WF7620? My WF7620 is coming with the fault code of 0x9A which seems to mean that the main board has a fault and needs to be changed. I've been offered a WF7610 board which hopefully will do the job! Also does anyone have a reciepe for an effective printhead unblocking fluid because the ones I have seen recommended such as Piezoflush is ridiculously expensive. I can get basic items such as isoprop alcohol, ammonia solution etc but am unsure what to use. I did try ammonia some time ago and I think it damaged the printhead of a WF2750 - maybe too concentrated. I've also seen here in the UK a product called 'printhead magic' also pretty expensive whose componant parts seem jealously guarded!!

Hi Paolo - great video thanks. I have error code 0x9A which happened after I removed and tried to clean the printhead. @@nicktasker4808 Hi Nick... is not easy. WF is not technician friendly at all. The fuse is F2, and yes, it usually blows when ink spills. You have to dissasemble nearly all the machine, dissasemble the mainboard and in the CG36 mainboard is located next to the F3 fuse (near the F4 too). The other fuse is in the other side of the board. After soldering the new fuse make sure to clean the printheads and the carriage contacts with isopropyl alcohol. About replacing printhead... I never needed to do like in other epsons. The fuse (F2) is a fast 0.5amps so it just only blows the fuse, but never seen a burned transistor or blowed printhead on these machine series (7710, 7715 and 7720)

I just replaced the print head on my 7620. It was remanufactured from ebay. I have watched a couple different videos about changing the print head (you had the best by the way). Anyway, I am getting no ink. I have run the cleaning mode multiple time and the nozzle check. But, my paper comes out blank. No ink at all on the paper. What could be the issue? Thanks.

Domanda meglio Quasar oppure liquido OCP PER testine Epson?

      Fammi sapere in caso :)

Yeah these printer models featured in this repair are prone to having problems in the printhead. They have been the first printers with PrecisionCore Technology, they haven't been tested throughfully and a lot of them appeared to be defective. Epson released a new printhead part number that works fine, but still you have to replace the head.

    • @PaoloMarcelli
      @PaoloMarcelli  4 года назад

      Hi!
Yes they could be removed but I would not do that. It's not likely to cause problems when you print on high weight paper like glossy photo paper, but common paper at 80g/m2 really needs the guide of those star shaped rollers at the end, that could eventually cause a paper jam because the paper sheet could get in the way of the printhead/carriage, or you could have ink smudges on the prints!
Anyway, I'd make a video if I had a printer to make the video on :/ unfortunately I don't have one at the moment.

  • @EbenezerScroogeMcDuck
    @EbenezerScroogeMcDuck Год назад +1

PSA: If you own a wf-7610 or similar, do not buy a replacement print head. All print heads in circulation are refurbished heads that were originally refurbished. This means 80% or less of the nozzles/channels are working. You will never get a 100% clean head test. Epson does not manufacture brand new print heads for these models anymore, so you are going to end up with malfunctioning refurbs on ebay or amazon etc.. There may be less than 5 brand new print heads listed on the internet right now, that's about it. Expect to pay $300 for one of these. Buy a new printer. 7820 is the latest equivalent for 7610 (7840 for 7620, yes, weird numbering..) The print heads on those models are brand new and replacements in circulation are also new stock.

Sure wish I had read this sooner since I just purchased a $35. printhead for my WF7610 and it did not fix the non-printing. Mine does not print at all. I put in ONE new cartridge since I do not want to spend the money to buy new carts if it will not print. I thought I may just redo the whole procedure; maybe I did something wrong but I followed the video to the letter. I get power and everything else works; scanner and USB ports.

    HEY :)
As everyone is asking the same thing I'll pin a comment up here: Is the WF-7610/WF-7620 printhead the same of the WF-7710/WF-7720?
The answer is... It depends on the printhead revision and part number. You see, Epson updates their components when any defects are discovered.
FA13001 and FA13002 part numbers only work on the WF-7610/WF-7620
    ,
FA13031 part number works on both the WF-7610/WF-7620 and the WF-7710/WF-7720
And also: Where do you get replacement printheads?
In Italy we can buy them from Authorized Epson Repair Centers, I don't know about other countries!
I know MK Electronics and GEDAT Spare Parts are reliable Epson parts stores in Europe, other than that you can try to look on eBay/AliExpress but PAY ATTENTION!!! Printheads with different part numbers could be visually the same and you could end up with a printhead that does not work reliably for you, so if you go that route check carefully to see if they are genuinely the part number you need.
