And right wing parties represent a picture of the past. Or they simply work with fears. And simple answers (and I don't want to say that lower class people have simple minds, but the percentage is slightly higher of course than if you compare them with lawyers or engineers) You simply don't have so many jobs for "traditional" working class in Germany anymore. If there is one thing I’ve learned about Germany, as an American, since I have begun learning German, it is that America’s two party system is worse, but Germans aren’t satisfied with their political system either. Actually, I’ve come to the mindset that barely anyone is satisfied with their political system since politicians are, for the most part, just narcissists that are convinced they know what to do.

Yes, but each American party covers a much broader field of ideas and ideologies than German parties. CDU/FDP/SPD are essentially within the frame of moderate Democrats like Joe Biden. You have Bernie and AOC within the Democrats who kinda represent Greens/Left Party. AfD is somewhat comparable with Trump, only that at least I would assume Trump actually knew what he was doing. So for a conservative/libertarian person the Republican party offers a lot more selectable flavors. Also ur political system allows for lateral entries: It is not completely unimaginable someone ideologically unbiased would become President if such person wanted to and had enough financial resources . While in Germany even someone like Elon Musk would have to prove himself in a very long selection process by the establishment of a party.
There are a lot of little parties in the US. You have Libertarians, the Green Party, and the Constitution Party. There are a lot of smaller parties in regards to territories/states. But in federal elections the third parties are often treated as indpendent voters. They are not so significant until you have to choose a president. Then the non-GOP and non-Dem voters are suddenly very very important.

I'm not German, but I knew most of these parties. Actually, I knew all of them except one: the NPD. And I must say I fell into a rabbit hole I didn't expect. Who knew there would be a nazi party in Germany today? Honestly, they're completely messed up but I see some of their declarations and positions and I think this is fascinating. It's incredible it hasn't been outlawed yet.
The SPD is very much like the Blairite or Progress wing of the UK Labour Party. Die Linke is more like the Momentum wing of the UK Labour Party. Other European countries have two Labour parties as well such as Spain with Podemos and Greece with Syrizia. On the UK has the one Labour party.

People are just afraid of some extreme leftwing stuff, but i dont think they will do it, they will be rather modern liberal center-left party. In Bayern there are election in this October for state parliament. I was walking on the street, The FDP guy handed me over his flyer and i got impressed by their policy.

If you think that what the Nazis promoted were actual FAMILY values, you are not educated on this. I grew up with Nazis. Actual German Nazis in Germany. Kids were disposable and just cannon feed for the Führer. You weren't meant to love your family, you were meant to love the party, to love Hitler. You were meant to fight and die gor Germany.
"Die Deutsche Mutter und ihr erstes Kind" (The German mother and her first child) was THE book for raising little Nazis. It actually tells you how to raise an emotionless cold being.
And national pride? What is national pride? Singing to a flag? Raising an arm and punsh everyone who doesn't like my country? Or is it to make life livable for your peers? Social housing, good food, vacation, health care, education, etc? The Germans love their country and I always took pride in how we dealt with our past, especially compared to other countries. But yeah, go on tell me how someone trying to live their life peacefully without someone else attacking them, is making the world a more horrible place than a nation caught up in shameless propaganda, killing millions of people, using slave labor to build their weapons and waging war against neighbors.

Yeah, I always thought of the Republicans historically as the CDU, but now AfD, and the Democrats traditionally more like the SPD, but now like FDP. But your's is way more fitting.
Hear me out: We Vote for the SPD because they are the middle of 2 extremes so it must be the perfect way AND if the SPD is Too much Democratic or too much Republican We know what side gets too much Support and that means we need to vote for the opposite to get more into the Middle and then after this we Vote SPD and then repeat until the SPD is 50 50 in Democratic and Republican Positions 🤯

I'm not German, but I knew most of these parties. Actually, I knew all of them except one: the NPD.
And I must say I fell into a rabbit hole I didn't expect. Who knew there would be a nazi party in Germany today? Honestly, they're completely messed up but I see some of their declarations and positions and I think this is fascinating. It's incredible it hasn't been outlawed yet.
The reason because the NPD isn't banished is because they are to small to have relevant political influence as the Verfassungsschutz says
The SPD is very much like the Blairite or Progress wing of the UK Labour Party. Die Linke is more like the Momentum wing of the UK Labour Party. Other European countries have two Labour parties as well such as Spain with Podemos and Greece with Syrizia. On the UK has the one Labour party.
yeah, they‘re not outlawed because a huge portion of their support base joined the AfD instead, and then the federal court said that they‘re too small to matter and kinda just… dropped the ban on them

@@Oumegi Hah, studying in Berlin but Im from Prague and its true they probably gonna win in coalition with liberal centrists, im probably gonna vote for them. People are just afraid of some extreme leftwing stuff, but i dont think they will do it, they will be rather modern liberal center-left party. But Czechs are very anti-immigration and very sceptical towards green politics and kinda eurosceptical. Conservative rigthwingers and " national patriots" have for example pure hatred towards Pirates, they call them melons, green outside but red inside (communists) hah.

They are also very ... ambiguous on nuclear energy, I feel like they do not have a definitive statement, because they are against it, but in a society that is overwhelmingly pro-nuclear that's a political suicide. I'll probably also vote for them tho, and take the gamble. There's really no good alternative ATM.

Have you heard of Paul Wheaton? He's an American permaculturist doing great work here. He did the math on animal deaths etc in a vegan lifestyle vs omnivore and claims it's actually better for the environment to be an omnivore. He completely broke down his reasoning and numbers in his book "Building a Better Tomorrow in Your Backyard (Instead of Being Mad at bad guys)". I can send a free pdf download to two more people if anyone is interested. It's a fantastic book from a fantastic human :)
