If they had Nesta healthy in 2006 it would have been better. They would have won without the controversy.
@@ciaronsmith4995 Unfortunately Nesta got injured at every world cup. 1998, 2002, 2006. The italian squad core elements were the same across those world cups (1994 finalists were quite a different unit). In that decade it was all about Italy France and Brazil, 3 golden generations, amazing football. Feels modern teams lack of the same talent, or maybe football just changed
@@Janinho1982 Italy's core changed in my view during that time - Brazil and France's stayed the same. They had Cannavaro and Nesta in 98, but the addition of Totti and Pirlo in 2002 and then 2006 respectively (Pirlo didn't play in 2002), made Italy the best team overall.
Still remember that Grosso goal. I was celebrating like crazy even though i’m not Italian. My country never qualifies for anything, so i have to find another team😹
