As someone who drew Costa Rica in the World Cup sweepstake, this broke me.
Did the same thing for Norwich against spurs in the FA Cup too
I remember that. Weird thing is they didn't repeat the feat against Argentina. In the 2014 semis or the 2022 Quarters. It was Emi Martinez who excelled at the mind games in 2022. I wasn't at all surprised they won the shootout in the final, Martinez already had a warm up round with 2 penalties in the last 40 mins of play, plus he used all sorts of mind games.
I'm surprised every team in the World Cup does not have a designated penalty goalie given the frequency shootouts happen in national tournaments.
Bounou and Livakovic looked like they were prepared for penalties though. The goalkeeper that I saw that did a very poor job is Lloris.
Tim Krul is 34 and Cillesen is 33. What a bad path their careers have taken that they've lost their squad places in 2022 to Noppert, Bijlow and Pasveer (39!), who all play in the Eredivisie.
Krul was rejected from the team this year for not wanting to practice penalties in team training, which I find baffling
Don’t think Cillesen was ever the same after that injury at Valencia
Deserves to be playing for them rn
This reminded me of the Emi Martinez masterclass at the 2022 world cup!
Great short video, thanks FIFA
Tim Krul, best goalkeeper.
Awesome video, keep them coming, they bring back all the nostalgic moments from the 1990s
Not the 90's, not even close 😁
HEROICS tim Krul.
Incredible keeper Krul!
I never understood why he doesn't do the same in the next game. I find it amazing when it happens and I was sure that it's going to do the same for the next game.
I recall Hans van Breukelen in the 1992 Eurocup tried really hard to get into the heads of the Danish players, it didn't work. :)
Yeah that was brilliant sub
All hail Krul and his glorious new Regime.
