Used coffee grounds as a body exfoliator. It’s great as it still contains oils so leaves skin with a soft hydrated feeling but has the added bonus of being great to combat the dreaded cellulite because of the caffeine. As I Beauty therapist I’ve used caffeine treatments on my clients for years.
Great ideas! You can also put coffee grounds in a coffee filter, tie off the top so you have a little coffee pouch and then put it in your vehicle and you will have a great air freshener! Of course, that is if you like the smell of coffee as much as I do! God Bless!
My grandmother taught me to run them down the kitchen sink periodically. With VERY hot running water ... Like you said, it cuts the grease lickety-split while eliminating odors ...
I get 5gal used coffee grounds every week from the near by coffee shop. I dump about 30+ 5 gal buckets of grounds in our 15x25 veg garden in mid Nov rake it around and let it be. I also add 5 gal bucket to a 55 gal drum of water and use it throughout the summer for garden and plants. It works great for cleaning our cast iron pans without killing the seasoning.
One can use them in soap making as an exfoliant that can be used once a week for optimal skin care. Just a suggestion for your awesome list. Great job.
Very informative video. Many thanks. 😊 I purchased a hard cover book on eBay. It belonged to a smoker. As soon as I opened the package the offending smell hit me in the face. To get rid of the smell I placed the book and coffee into a thick plastic bag and sealed it. I left the book in the sealed zip bag for a month. When I removed the book the smell was completely gone. I also use coffee grounds for my grass and flowers. Be well. 😄
These are awesome tips! We've been throwing our grounds into our compost wooden box beside our garden! didn't know these other tips. Thanks for the video Brad! Always love them and the great tips!
Starbucks coffee stores have a program, "Grounds for Gardens," (should be Grounds for Grounds!). All Starbucks will give you their daily used grounds (no cost) in huge bags of waste. There might be coffee filters in these garbage style bags, but they provide great mulch fiber as well. Here in 1 of 10 (!) in my city, they are glad to give me ... (drum roll ...) ... 2 1/2 garbage bags of the used grounds PER DAY! So if I was to get all 10 stores grounds, you could mulch your worms, and cover your entire orchard, veg/herb gardens, raised beds, flower beds, ... and even scatter on your lawn (worms like grounds), so the night crawlers will come out eat the grounds, and they will vermiculture your lawns into spectacular green vegetation forests.
WOW THANK YOU SO MUCH for This Information!!! I had No Idea Starbucks did that-:) We are putting up a Garden at a NEW Homeless Shelter so we will contact them. Be BLESSED Friend. Warmly, Lay Chaplain Kelly Chase
Yep my mom had the most beautiful house plants as a child I rember every one that came always complemented her on how nice her plants are her secret coffee grounds !! lol
+the shadow people Another good tip for house plants--use stump dirt if you can find an old stump someplace. My stepmother always swore by planting her african violets, etc in stump dirt. She had a jade plant that was huge.
What Keen Ideas regarding the Fireplace Aroma and Grease Removal Properties of Coffee Grounds. Thank You So Much. Btw..YOU have a Really Hip, Cool Vibe about You and I Love Your Set. GREAT SUCCESS to YOUR CHANNEL and Give My BEST to Your Lovely Family!!! Warmly, Lay Chaplain Kelly Chase
I used to grind coffee into a fine powder and add it to homemade soap instead of using pumice as grit. It was intended to scrub grease and odors from my hands.
I use left over coffee grounds to dye 100% cotton, linen and wool. Have made a paste with fresh coffee grounds and applied to real wood floors, furniture that had been scratched and allowed to set for a few hours, then removed once the coffee ground paste had dried.
As a former vermiculture "worm farmer" thought you might like to know- coffee grounds are not considered "food" for worms - but an aphrodisiac, worms actually eat the bacteria produced from the break down of organic matter. HAPPY WORMS!! :)
Let wet coffee grounds dry then, put 'em in an empty coffee can, light em with a match or piece of paper and but 'em to repel mosquitoes from your camp site or patio. 👍
I live in white tail deer country, and look for sheds each year. Some I find are old and washed out of color. I take wet grounds and rub it on the antlers and it brings back some of the color that has been bleached out.
I don't drink coffee but I have gone to starbucks and gotten grounds there to put in my garden. I have also seen people put it in soap. It makes the soap abrasive so it removes grime from hands. (Like what you did but just making it into soap.)
I have never done this but have heard you can use as a scrub for your face. Hubby used to haul fresh killed chicken in his reefer unit of the semi and when his load was removed he sprayed out reefer unit and then sprinkled coffee all over the floor and the smell of fresh killed chicken would be gone
I take used ones and put them under my eyes (for about 20 minutes) it gets rid of the bags and dark circles. Since I've been on steroids all summer and waking up at 3:00(ghost hour...oooh spooky) I need all the help I can get. This pumpkin doesn't look good with bags....tee,hee
Drain cleaner. Many people say that flushing coffee ground through the drain pipes helps scrub the built up crud in the pipes. I honestly can't say this is fact but I do it occasionally. Can't hurt. Used coffee grounds aren't as acidic as people are led to believe. I use them as side dressings on all of my plants. High nitrogen content.
+The Self Sufficient Life It works in two ways. One is it has a grease cutting properties but also the abrasive factor. This combinations allows the grounds to get intermixed with grease clogs and loosen them up and flush away.
+fortbuilder100 That makes sense If it helps to clean drain why not disposals. I don't have an in-sink disposal but have been considering getting one to set up outside to grind stuff to go in compost. This idea should help. Thanks.
One more to add: We had bought a piano that reeked of cigarette smoke. A good cleaning got rid of most of the smell on the outside, but the inside was still terrible. I put about half a can of grounds inside the piano(sprinkled it all around), and closed it back up. It eventually either absorbed or overpowered the cigarette smell, because all I can smell now is the coffee(and I am VERY sensitive to smells, especially cigarette smoke.
Brewed? That's what I use anyway. I haven't heard different. I may have missed in the comments above for carpet odor removal; if the grounds were used and dried out or fresh.
Where did you get your "coffee grounds are acidic" data from? My online research shows most often the ph is between 6.5-7.5, in other words neutral. Only occasionally will it fall both above and below this range.
This is correct. The acids in coffee beans are water soluble; hence, most of the acids come out in the brewing process. Nonetheless, coffee grounds are outstanding for use in the garden (virtually all vegetables, plus roses) and compost (vermi and regular). Excellent video, and I just subscribed. Cheers.
Not all are acidic, depends on the brand. But I read you can add used tea leaves if you need it more acidic. No idea if this works, haven't tried yet.. :)
Thank you. Besides throwing them in my garden, which I don't have anymore 'cause I live on the 4th floor, I've been looking for things to do with old grounds for years. I noted a long time ago that dried coffee grounds form a puck from my latte machine and gits like concrete when it dries. 'Seems to me that characteristic should be worth something to somebody. 'Don't know anyone that would be willing to buy a house made with coffee pucks, but what do I know? Thanks
Hon, you will get more subscribers if you get to the point right off. It is annoying to listen to ppl blather on while we are waiting for an answer to a question. It is nice to have a pleasant or humorous instructor but one with actual information is invaluable.
I hve made fire logs outta mine. Made sure they were very dry, mixed them with some melted wax until its like a stiff dough, slopped the mixture into a silicone loaf pan, let it cool and harden....insta DuraFlame log!
You can also use wet coffee grounds to mask the odor of your marijuana when transporting it. from drug sniffing dogs ---- Oh, wait! Did I just say that out loud?
The blueberry thing is not true. Once the water runs through the grounds the majority of acid oils comes out in your coffee. I have looked it up and it is a fallacy. Sulfur is what you need to use to lower ph for blueberries.
So i added grounds to my home grown onions and flowers...THEY ARE DYING & TURNING YELLOW...I THINK YOU SHOULD MENTION a bit more before u suggest tossing this wonderful stuff around in the garden lol
That's because onions garlic and most type of flowers prefer acidic soil. And most people when using this in the garden use it not only to bring nitrogen to the plants but to reduce acidity. It may just be that the type of plant you're trying to fertilize with it don't mesh well with that
+NortheastTX Permie ABSOLUTELY NOT! - Rubbing alcohol is not ethyl alcohol, but isopropyl alcohol, a totally different chemical than the alcohol in beer, wine, or liquor. The lethal dose of isopropol alcohol by mouth in adult humans is about 8 ounces. People drink rubbing alcohol to commit suicide.

Set a pot of fresh brewed coffee in your frig over night to get rid of odors. Works wonders where cleaning just will not remove the odors.
+MrOldclunker especially if dinner last night was garlic soup!
Ok new fav channel. I want my worms to rise up and call me blessed.
You can add to handmade soap! Adds exfoliation and neutralizes odors. Great for mechanics and Gardner, also great in the kitchen
do you have recipe on it?
coffee grounds are also used to get rid of roaches. The pungent smell attracts them and when they eat it the caffeine kills them.

Its especially helpful for a cast iron skillet where you don't want to use soap. Worst case, you make awesome redeye gravy

I use coffee/coffee grounds to dye muslin for antique look in quilts.
it can repeal snails from your garden as well.
One more to add. If you like make tabletop terrain. Put coffee ground on your craft and dry brush it. It brings really good result
Cool ideas indeed! Thanks!😀

+nativeamericanwanderer Maybe try coconut oil with the grounds for a less greasy feel???? Hmmmm... Good idea!
I had a bad problem with root maggots on my carrots and radishes this year. Wish I knew about that trick.

+Windswept Homestead You can also make a gardener's soap using cornmeal instead of coffee grounds. Makes a nice light yellow soap.
Very cool. I have used some diatomaceous earth in soap (I didn't have any bentonite clay)
Sprinkle some dried grounds on icy surfaces like sidewalks & decks, environmentally friendly anti-slip material that smells great 👍
Great tips. Tanks. Now I have to sip my Black Martini (joe)
I've sprinkled dry grounds on carpet that had a smell to it and after leaving for a day then vacuuming, the smell was gone.
Then it's going to look like a poo stain
Brad would you be willing to do an update in uses for uses coffee ground on the wissonstead farm?
Put in the refrig, absorbs odor better than baking soda.
Thumbs up. ENJOY... THE SIMPLE LIFE

Put your coffee grounds under your roses. I hear the niacin makes the roses grow faster.
