This man is a legend. In 1991, I was a junior in high school in Youngstown, Ohio. One day while mowing the grass I noticed a smashed up cassette in the driveway to the fraternity house next door. I scooped it up and dropped the guts into another tape and it was "Quik Is the Name". Me and my friends bumped the shit out of that tape for, like, the next 10 years.

Woah, that's uncanny. Around '92 I also found a cassette copy of "Quick is the Name" in Columbus, OH. Can't remember exactly how or where I found it, but it was wet and dirty. Played it forever, might still have it somewhere. Maybe they were dropping from the sky! 😀

Awesome. I just not only admire Quik not only as a complete artist but also for his music tastes. Also, he mentioned that the times have changed in regard to sampling but if that wasn't the case today, a lot of what he got has the potential for some really dope Quik music.
