      It was a pleasure. Thanks for your time and honest chat of your experience to date. Can you ask your father-in-law if he wouldn't mind driving in and out of the background of some of my future videos 🤣🤣

      I enjoyed you sharing your experience of the eNiro. I've just ordered one so it's good to see what I might expect after a few months ownership.

    I have an e-Niro since January 2021 and my wife and I are absolutely in love with this car. It's a perfect family car and we travelled a lot here in Spain. The odometer mark 21.000 Km in less than a year. I plan to visit Dublin on Spring crossing France and UK.
    Thanks for this Fantastic video.

    Excellent video, as a relatively new EV driver, I found myself nodding in agreemt to most of Roger’s onservations as a new EV owner, especially the comment of not needing to be a nerd and prepare excel sheets to enjoy. Great idea for the video Derek. 👍

    Interesting hearing a first time ev owner being surprised at 2 Chargers at Obama Plaza. This is to be expected though coming from a Petrol Car where Fuel Refilling is everywhere. Ive been driving an ev myself for 5years now, but rented a Petrol Car for a Week in Donegal as was doing a lot of Driving and didnt want to be dealing with a poor Fast Charging Network on my Holidays. Id forgotten how easy it was to fuel a Petrol Car but also how expensive Fuel was. A week in Donegal cost me €140 for a Golf Diesel Automatic. While the Driving of the Golf was fabulous the Automatic Gear changing was just awful . Couldnt wait to get back to my Ioniq. Definitely would like to see more New owners experiences like this.

    Really interesting episode. As a UK e-Niro owner having been through the same journey, there are a lot of Roger’s views I agree with. And he has an excellent beard as well!

    Excellent insight into owning and EV. Another subject you might cover Derek is the fact that many Taxi drivers who want to switch to EVs can't secure vehicles due to supply problems from manufacturers this year and will thus loose their approved grants which expire on the 31st December leaving them short in funding

    • @NevoEVReviewIreland
      @NevoEVReviewIreland  3 года назад

      Thanks for the comment and feedback Paul. Unfortunately the EV scheme for taxi drivers is now closed. Hoping it will return in 2022 and supply will have improved then too fingers crossed.

      @@NevoEVReviewIreland what I'm hearing Derek is that the 5k grant is going for cars over 40k and the taxi grant is also not being renewed. I'm angry because many drivers have grant approval which expires Dec this year but cant get cars and the grants won't carry over even if a deal has been agreed with a supplier

    I'm only 3 and a half minutes in and I totally agree with your views, having recently traded a Hyundai Ioniq elite for a E-Niro SX, which was the cut off point for the clean car rebate in NZ, I am missing the memory seat function, the heated seats and heated steering wheel, also going back to rubber covered pedals. The sound system is not as crisp as that in the Ioniq, but it is partially made up for with the larger infomation screen and integrated sat nav that I now have for the first time.
    The two main reasons for switching away from the Ioniq were to gain range, from 240km to 450km, and to increase the ride height. The two vehicles I had driven prior to the Ioniq were both SUVs and with a large number of SUVs on the road in NZ the Ioniq just felt a bit small.

    Great video really good points and advice for potential new EV owners. The eNiro in a good family car choice too good space and practically without being a huge car. Good stuff Derek and Roger 👍

    Good stuff, thanks Derek and Roger. Starting to think we need more of this as adoption expands. I'm noticing more questions from "EV noobs" here but living with an electric car for years on end can make us forget to clarify the basics from time to time. Keep them coming!

    I use the public charging network a lot. I also have a home charger installed. Still shocked there’s only one ESB charger in Castle Bellingham services,and one @ Lusk services. Seriously. One?? I called into Castle Bellingham on my way northbound & had to turn around & drive southbound to find a free rapid charger. ESB would need to up their game. Tesla have 8 chargers @ each service station.

    Defo should get drivers back after a year and see how they're going with the cars.
    Do you have any vids about installing home chargers and what you ought to go for? Buying a new build and next car will likely be electric so would like to be on the ball if there's anything we need to talk to the builders about.

    A nice chat about the practicalities of BEV ownership. Maybe it might have been nice to hear about the running costs for the E-Niro. Or, has Roger not had the extortionate battery coolant change moment yet!? I think some people pay around 700 quid for a 5 year service package, so maybe this is the case?

    I fitted a solar PV systemin 2016, now during the summer I am charging as much as possible during the hours of sunlight to minimise the cost of charging.

    Does the Irish spec e Niro come with ‘adaptive’ cruise control?

    • @NevoEVReviewIreland
      @NevoEVReviewIreland  3 года назад +2

      Thanks for the comment poshpantspaddy. Yes, the Irish Kia e-Niro has "Smart Cruise Control (SCC)
      Smart Cruise Control uses a radar sensor at the front of the car to monitor the distance to vehicles ahead. If the predetermined safe distance is not being maintained, the system will reduce the speed, and even stop the car, until the vehicle ahead proceeds."

    • @johncrosbarry
      @johncrosbarry 3 года назад +2

      Yes I have a 2019 eNiro and the adaptive cruise is excellent use it everyday. Very stable no bouncing between lines etc.
