The Hui tribe is one of the five largest tribes in the People's Republic of China. This tribe embraces Islam and is spread across almost all provinces in China, but is concentrated in Ningxia, Hainan, Gansu, Yunnan and Qinghai. Ningxia itself is an autonomous region for the Muslim Hui tribe.
Physically, the Hui are no different from the Han; The only difference is the way of life of those who are Muslim, observing Islamic sharia but in a Confucian style. This differentiates them from the Uygur tribe, who both embrace Islam but are more inspired by Central Asian Islam.
