Fellow Re:Zero reactor here, and this is probably one of my favorite shows to react to ever. You're in for a treat, and Season 2 gets even more crazy. look forward your content on this show!
Thanks man. I subbed you a while back. Great reactions.
Appreciate the kind words, it means a lot! Hope you enjoy the wild ride that is this show!
Wohooooo! One of the best series in the world it's finally here!
Really bro? One of the best series? Because I haven't seen this anime yet...
Dileep Nagendra Its pretty good if you like psychological type anime that focus on characters. Its a dark fantasy so it gets pretty messed up at times. Theres a bit of action but not a lot!
Also the main character is pretty weak, he uses his brain to figure out his problems. You’ll probably get pissed at him if you hate weak mcs. But thats why me and a lot of people love him! He slowly grows as the series goes on, and becomes more knowledgeable as well as a better person.
It’s basically like what if a REAL anime fan, nerd, teenager was sent somewhere with no powers except time travel (that he has to die to use)
@@chelronin7843 Thanks for the reply! ♥️ I'm currently watching fire force. I'll watch Re-Zero after that... 🙂
Ahhhhh yes a fellow man of culture.
@@Di1eepNagendra yes it is the best I deeply obsessed with this anime
I honestly feel like Re:Zero is one of the most polarizing animes out there.
Most people i see either hate the show or absolutely love it.
Im glad you have such a good first impression but im also curious how you will react to future episodes.
I still can't fathom why anyone would hate it. Sure disliking it is reasonable but what is there to hate so much?
@@kirbysucks5001 ikr their too dumb... Like wtf
Think because the show is so heavy on psychological aspects and being realistic for anime show. This might hit people too close to home and there comes their hatred for the show. Still don't get it why hate this show and if you hate it why even watch it...
I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE WATCHING THIS! This show is easily in my top three, season 2 gets super crazy!
Please, listen to the full version of the ending. It's lyrics and melody and stuff are so so so beautiful. It's my favourite ending cuz the lyrics saved me from my 6 months trauma I had. The ending bring back. the live i've lost for 6 months. I literally cried while smiling listening to this ending
Oh, interesting! Seeing an older person's reactions to the series is a nice break from all the young people.
Agree. This will be an awesome watch.
He even knows what Groundhog Day is.
I would argue against watching the director cuts because of the way the ending songs are used in the original episodes and the impact they have on the experience so continue as you are
Agreed. I love the use of music. Good point.
Never expected to find something like this in my recommended but I'm pleasantly surprised. Its interesting seeing someone more aged getting into the anime community and I'm super hyped you seem to like Re:Zero in particular. I know Im not alone in saying its my favorite show of all time and you have a lot to look forward to when watching it!
Not that odd since some of us oldies grew up with Akira etc. It's nice to find something as deep and well written as re zero
Yeah. The whole “oldies” thing is kinda shitty as anime has been around for decades. It’s not a “new” thing.
i've never been more hyped for a reaction than this time! ty
Ahh you for chills in the exact same spot I did and she essentially the same train of thought at the end! I came in blind around 9 months ago and it's since became one of my favorite series of all time. The books are amazing and currently coming out chapter by chapter at a very fast pace online!
"Oh, he's dead again..."
Welcome to the show!
Oh man, you are gonna make me rewatch this for the 10th time. This season is good, but the second one is a masterpiece. I'll be watching your journey through it all.
Im an anime only fan, but from what I've seen so far (caught with the anime) I like S1 better
@@lacabra1279 You might change your mind the payoff of the second cour is fantastic and overall arc 4 is a masterpiece how it connects to the end
I should probably feel bad that I think "only 10 times huh?".
I'm beyond saving T_T
@@janina3879 I know a guy who's seen it 17 times and is only just now diving into the LNs. He's been able to work out some impressively accurate theories over the course of season 2, and even figured out some stuff from arcs 5 and 6.
@@gctypo2838 That's quite impressive!.. I read arc 4 3 years ago. Sadly I was spoiled on some theories back in S1. But honestly they just got me more intrigued. I'm reading arc 6 via the novels, so I'm not up to date yet. I will probably reread everything from zero once I finish volume 24. I pretty much watched it over 20 times. I stopped counting. The small details you get, and the fun you have putting it together. I can't wait being up to date to really take part in theory crafting while avoiding spoilers. I just know no one irl invested in Re:Zero as much as I am.
But you know? It makes me suuper happy to know that there are many people like me, watching this show over and over again, getting involved in the story and crafting theories with each new puzzle piece. I don't know any other anime.. or even book that could do this.
I'm obsessed. And I'm enjoying every second of it.
Ironic is.. what really really pulled me into the story was when I first saw episode 4 I think when Betty talks about the Witch of Envy. I was like "I bet you she is not evil and has a deep connection to Subaru!"...
I was just thinking the other day how great it would be if you started Re: Zero. I'm a damn prophet
lol same
Never clicked faster in my life (legitimately this time). And here I was thinking this series would be too dark for you. Just be warned this is a very detail-oriented series, especially in season 2 - stuff might seem completely out of nowhere when it's hinted at several times prior. Also be VERY careful in the comments, season 2 is very very spoilable, despite the series premise.
Re:Zero is my all-time favorite anime; you're in for something truly incredible. Guess I'm starting my seventh(?) rewatch a few days early, and I REALLY need to turn on notifications.
And regarding the novels: The source material for the series is the light novels (LNs), not the manga. The manga is actually behind the anime right now. I've never went to "read the books" for any series prior to Re:Zero, and I found it absolutely amazing. Both the LNs and the web novel they're edited from are exceptionally well-written, and have only gotten better as the story goes on. I'm fully caught up with the WN (don't worry I won't spoil) and the last 10 or so chapters have been among the best in the series. I highly, highly recommend checking them out when you get the chance.

Damn Kira Yoshikage and his time resets

*[BITES ZA DUSTO] INTENSIFIES*
Couldn't have said it better, myself.
DON'T DIE! DURARARARARA! 💞💕
It actually references Bites the Dust in the original light novel funnily enough. Can't remember where (I didn't get to the part, my friend told me about it)
The reason Subaru instantly knows he was summoned to another world is because “Isekai” is a come genre in Japan, especially the past 10 years, “Isekai” literally means “summoned to another world”.
"He keeps dying"
LOL Too early to say that.
I’d say I was exactly right.
Yay, finally re:zero! I was waiting for an excuse to watch it again, now I have one.
Dude I've been waiting for you to react to this for the longest!!!!
I will be rewatching this with you so I can watch 2nd season fresh after 1st
Hell yeah, Re Zero has got to be my favorite anime story of all time. So glad to see you enjoyed the start so much!
I am all kinds of excited for this one!
Amazing you reacting to this finally. You have long journey and maybe get all done before season 2 part 2 starts in january.
yea ending song is rly amazing
Great to see you reacting to one of my absolute favorite anime!
Fun fact Satella thinks Subaru is 13 years old. 😂
I just needed something to fill in the 3 month gap between S2 cour 1 and 2... awesome!!
YOOO! Lovin' the fact that you're reacting to this fucking incredible journey!
I can't get enough of Re:Zero reactions! It's such a unique and interesting show...
Oooooh Re:Zeroo
Im really excited the show gets really good in the 2nd season
so glad you're finally watching re:zero :D
One of the best anime that i ever had the pleasure of finding. It's just so damn good. I can't wait for the entire story to finish and get animated.
Good for you starting this. You wont regret watching!
If you watch re zero once it’s okay. Rewatch it and it’s god tier. Though this sounds ridiculous but the best experience is to rewatch everything everytime you watch a new episode because you’ll realize something new every time
Re:Zero is.....really good. You really have no idea what what you're in for. It's a life-changing kind of story.
Yes I'm so glad you're watching this. Imma cry lol.
Damn... I remember recommending this... hell yeah! Keep in mind though, that the first half of d=season 2 is about to end, and the second half will start again in January!
Let the suffering begin!
If you can power through the first half of season 1, you will have an amazing experience
there's a bit of a tranlation error at the end, it's "the Witch of Envy" not "the Jealous Witch". the Director's Cut fixed that mistake
Omg this day has finally come!
wow, really happy you're watching this awesome anime!
After Part 4 and Part 5 Jojo, this is the show im more exited to see you react to
Really nice choice!!
oh i see you're a man of culture as well
Can't wait for part two! Plus season 2 is finished next week, so you may enjoy both fully. With each and every cliffhanger this anime has to offer, of course !
It's not finished next week, it's halfway done next week. It's a split cour, with the second half of the season starting in January.
@@gctypo2838 true... But given the time of that "pause" it's kind of a end to me, I feel like they will put the worst cliffhanger ever x~x
What the Heck!? You've never seen Re:Zero!?!! Where the Hell have you been man! Let's go!! >_
Well I’m here now.
so it begins
Really great reaction, I liked it a lot!! Re:Zero is one of my favorite animes/story of all time, and I can't recommend the books enough, it goes more in depth about the world building and details about what's happening. But just a quick info, in Re:Zero's case, you should look for the Light Novels, because the manga is really far behind both the anime and the Novel.
OMG YES I'm so excited for you to watch this absolute masterpiece!!
Yes!! We hooked another one, boys!
Ah, yes. The guy whose deaths work kinda like the devil's.
Niiceee, im definitely watching this again with you
My Grandfather once said " when I was younger, I often play outside of the house. Why don't you play outside and bath sunlight" This grand pa is cool, I suppose.
There's no escape in death for this guy. You gonna love him.
You can buy the books or read the translations of the free Web novel version to have a more detailed worldbuilding. Anyway, the novels are great and are totally worth of time, money and tears you will invest in them.
This is great! I love this series, by the way the original source material for this are called light novels and not Manga, but there is a Manga made after the anime haha.
The anime is based off the Light Novel which currently has 13 officially translated volumes
There IS a manga, however it is currently behind where the anime is.
I highly recommend checking out the LN since it's extremely well-written and rich with world-building and character dialogue that the anime can't fit in. In saying that, the anime adaptation is really faithful to the source material.
Web novel, not ln
@@Soc1alpers0n It isn't based off the web novel. The anime is based off the Light Novel. You can literally take a quick google search to find that out.
@@oxy1097 i mean wb is better than ln.
@@Soc1alpers0n ahhh, I haven't personally read the web novel myself so I can't really comment on it
@@Soc1alpers0n In my opinion, the Web Novel in some parts is better, true, but for the most part it's too dragged in the details and can be a bit overwhelming. Anyway, the Light Novel is the official material for Re:Zero story, and the Web Novel is more like a draft.
This anime is amazing! It gets better and better. (Sorry for misspellings, I don't speak English fluently)
Ahhhhhh my brain trembles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sate.
Sate sate.
Sate sate sate sate.
Great choice
Will check your content
You don't how happy I am to see you react to this! Enjoy this masterpiece of a show (also, I never read the web novel or the light novel for this series; but this anime is a fantastic adaptation) 😄
As a WN reader, I confirm that.
would you believe the Wn is better dont know how Tappei does but the words hit extremely hard especially at the emotional payoff scenes in which Re zero for all the suffering it has is at its peak at the emotional scenes
@@michodali5342 The web novel is good for detailing the inner monologues of the characters. The anime is good at a fast-pacing. I'm anime-only and have never or will never read the light novel/web novel because Re: Zero series is not a series I would like to get attach to because of its gore and psychological themes. If you want to know the details, there are 24 volumes of the web novel or light novel already released. Of course it would be phenomenal for fans attached to the series. Tappei's words hit extremely when the readers read the light novel because he's putting his heart and soul into those words. The anime is only an adaptation of his work by several animation staff. But the light novel or web novel is the pure mindset of the author. Go read ahead if you like!
@@marquin7672 Thats absolutely true i guess when you are connected and you see the lows ( Suffering and Despair) and highs ( the emotional payoffs ) hit respectivly much harder
I guess thats why we are re zero fans but still i hope in the future you will change your mind the Wn / Ln truly deserves it
@@michodali5342 I read my mangas from the library. I haven't checked Re: Zero novels yet, but I'll try. And if that doesn't work, I'll hunt for the web novels of Re: Zero online. The only disadvantage reading online is hours and hours of staring into your computer screen (which is a task straining to the eyes).
I haven’t gotten to watching the video, but I think for season 1, its best to watch the directors cut. They do 2 episodes put together but they also add in extra scenes and make some changes here and there, so I’d 100% recommend it
Too late at this point. I’m not starting my reactions again. Already up to Ep9.
DeanBarry Movie Reviews And Stuff Oof, all good. At least if you wanted to rewatch it, you could rewatch it with that
Great choice
Very, very hyped rn
this anime really nice
yess
correction : you are indeed years too late lmao. we waited years for a season 2.
Yes. I am.
Yes I get bored waiting and ended up reading the WN
You need to watch first season in Director's Cut Edition, it add some missed scenes and change some of it, also have better subs.
The books are really good, but the first couple books are hard to get through. They pick up around the 3rd or 4th book, while the books getting into season 2 are better than the anime for me. After you catch up with the books that have been released in English, you can continue the story with the free English translation of the web novel online. I hope you enjoy the series!!
Get ready
No fucking way !
Spoiler:
I smile every time he calls her satella
Woo Re:Zero!
Hell yeah brother
YAYYY GREAT SHOW!
You have finally reached your first Isekai anime, let's GOOO!!!! But you do have Slime manga afaik, right?
you look like my math teacher
Holy shit
Just wondering, is the show on patreon also timer based of is it unedited?
Timer based. Copyright laws apply there too. I have early release and exclusive content also, like Berserk and My Hero Academia.
yes!
"So obviously being a gamer has it's advantages so he king of knows what's going on right away."
No, no he does not. If anything expecting this to function like a video game is a determent. This isn't even an isekai with video game mechanics, and there are tons of those. Oddly enough it's rare for people not to accept they are in another world right off the bat.
PS: This anime is from 2016, so you technically are late to the game. It's just that there was a large gap between seasons 1 & 2.
It actually came out 2016. The light novel came out 2014. The web novel came out in 2012
There are a lot of videogamey things in the story nonetheless.
And the way is structured and assembled lures you into thinking that, Dean voiced the thoughts the author lures you into having and that's completely fine. It makes further revelations and moments down the line far more impactful.
@@CordobezVeridan I'll admit he has a save point, which is the most video game like thing I can think of in this show. However Subaru kept talking about events and complaining about his starting gear and lack of having legendary weapons right off the bat. If things had been left up to him that little girl would of been run over by the carriage because he tried to use magic or a super power, despite having no understanding of this world's magic system or even if it has one.
There is also thinking the first girl he runs into (not counting the bathroom) is his soul mate or something, only for her to leave as quickly as she came and he latches onto the second girl who showed up, since she happened to hang around longer.
I've only seen the first season, but him treating this like a video game blows up in his face.
Maybe he was referring to the directors version which came out this or last year if I’m correct
Would make sense as two episodes are summarised as one big
Narutonarutonaruto85 and just give him the time bro he will notice it soon enough, to be fair the first episode or two I also thought it’s kinda Videogame like, especially with the saving point, but after time anyone will get that it’s not the case
Just a matter of time
please react to Hunter x Hunter, its probably one of if not the best anime ever. even 2020 and its still the best
Nice!
Also, are you watching the original or the Director's Cut? I recommend watching the director's cut, as it doesn't remove anything and just combines episodes, so instead of 25 20 min episodes, there are 13 40 min episodes.
Watching the original. Way ahead in my reactions. Too late to Re: start now.
@@DeanBarryStuff That's fine, it's not that big of a deal. I can't wait for the next one, so I'm definitely joining your Patreon lol
@@DeanBarryStuff Technically you could just switch over, but it really does not matter too much. That said there are OVA's I would recommend you watch which came out with the directors cut. One is called Memory Snow and is meant to be watched after episode 11, though you can just watch it after season 1. The other, arguably more important one to watch can be watched before season 2 and is called Frozen Bond. If you just want to go ahead to season 2, you can, but I feel both are beneficial to watch if you are able
I recommend watching director's cut! Oh wait nvm lol
It's always suprising when I see aged people were into animes.
Aged?
Fml.

Now, say that about the 4th opening.
is the director's cut version or normal?
Normal.
@@DeanBarryStuff nice, the diferences are some fix in animation and timing of some cuts, also the final cap have an exta scene to conect with season 2 but if u dont want to cut 40 min of reaction in two videos just keep watching the normal version i enjoy this channel so much
Yeah. I’m well underway with my recording. The Directors Cut was available when I started.
@@DeanBarryStuff No worries. The bonus scene included at the end of the director's cut is essentially the start of season 2. So you won't miss anything if you just continue normally.
watch directors cut
a question tho are u watching base anime or director's cut?, it'd reccomend director's cut since you know...it's the way he wants you to watch it
Base anime. I’m already half way through the series.
@@DeanBarryStuff Consider watching LAST episode on directors cut since there's like a difference in the ending, that leads in a better way towards season 2...base anime at first wasn't sure that they'd had a second season so they tried to make it more conclusive
@@ChampuStrike The scene you're referring to in the DC was put at the very start of season 2, there's no need to watch the DC for ep24/5 anymore unless you want to. Personally I find it fits better there than at the end of season 1.
@@gctypo2838 i do think it fits better the way re:Z season 2 starts, since to not say much and put it into a perspective.
Say season 1 ended with subaru in a house, but season 2 starts w subaru in the subway, it doesn't change much since you can asume subaru walked to the subway, but it's more of a seamless transition
@@gctypo2838 The scene serves better as an ending to season 1 as it adds suspense and follows the main tone of the story.
