Bro good to see you back ...as what you've said @06:30 the mindset of the Army is slowly changing. However; ppl like yourself doing social media showcasing the highlights of the BA is essential for those who don't have the ability to experience what you have seen...
keep doing you 🔥🔥👊🏾
Fabziy
Keep doing these dude. Needs more dudes like you, Evo’s Media, Graft Photography etc. to show what it’s like. Especially with the state of the recruiting vids.
Had a massive break on here the past year just down to being away and Ops brings its own restrictions. Back at it again and just thankful I can use and progress a hobby around the career. Will get better throughout the year, especially when I get out of my living room and back to work lol
@@Rangermedia it is what it is bud. Keep on keeping on 🥃
I plan on joining the royal Irish regiment after I leave tech. After hearing all my grandas story about him in the barracks during the troubles
Nice, it’s good to follow in family footsteps. Will talk abit about this in my next video.
Great video bro I appreciate it
No problems mate and thanks for watching 🎥
Canoeing swim test in Sonthofen Austria 1986. 50 meters out under the instructors canoes and back again. Timed of course. An inch or so of ice on the lake was broken with big chain on a rock. Minus 6 in January brrr. That was cold in your skids. Not as cold as Canada 54 minus with wind chill. All good character building stuff. Fun times lol. Nice to see you back fellow Ranger. Soldier on - Faugh A Ballagh - Yo
Canada is definitely somewhere I would of loved to get to, unfortunately doesn’t slot into our role/rotation and I’m sure it’s all drawing down out there as well. Where you out on a winter survival course or a general exercise?
I say the issued warm kit back then was something else as well? Lol
@@Rangermedia Aye m8, ya got your standard thermals and Chinese suits and mits. Northern Ireland gloves fell to bits, along with the sa80 due to minus temps, about as much use as a handbrake on a canoe. Personally had my own gear, but got shafted when caught wearing it lol. Batus was mostly Mechanized and some non mech roles. 7 weeks out in the hooloo, all live firing stuff. Got to do spotter for a well hard sniper for a week. That was fun! Dont think Ive ever experienced cold like it, ever. November 87 if memory serves. Orders went out in 5th week "do not switch of any vehicles ever, keep them running 24/7". Maybe had something to do with diesel freezing solid lol. Dint think that could happen? All great memories. Would love to have gone to Kenya, your a lucky man. Soldier on pal. Cheers
Nice bread my guy 👍🏽
I’m going to the assessment centre next week. Hoping to join infantry.
Nice, who are you looking to join?
Nice one. You will love it. Best time of my life by far except my children of course lol. I’d still be doing it today if it wasn’t for an accident I had that destroyed my hip joint. Man I wish I could go back 22 years when I first joined. You will not meet better people than the ones you serve with, we’re like one big family but will literally do anything for each other. Good luck and enjoy it even when it gets hard and difficult and miserable enjoy it.
Go Bootnecks lad, the army is a shambles at the moment
Depends where you go I suppose.
@@Rangermedia either royal Anglian Regiment or the rifles. I passed my assessment centre and join the infantry intake in March.
Been watching your videos mate I’m hooked, I’m currently serving in Ukraine 1st bat with 92nd, Can’t say where I am for obvious reasons but your videos are fascinating. Thanks to UK armed forces for all the assistance.
Stay low move fast brother 💪 thanks for watching!
@@Rangermedia defo stay low. Rule No1
im planning on joining in a few months either the royal irish army or the irish defence force ,i been looking and wanting to ask for advice on ,if im still able to join cause in 2015 i unfortunately got a fractured humorous (no surgery it healed on its own ) but now in my early 20s i don't have an issue working or performing any tasks but fear that if i do mention it in the medical ,it might block my way in .
I am a foreigner from South Africa that is currently looking at joining, would you mind breaking down the recruitment process😅
I've got my assessment centre tomorrow any advice?
Ps appreciate all the videos you've made helped a lot
Honestly mate it’s no problems at all. A lot of people work themselves up over it and when it’s complete they realise all the worry before hand wasn’t necessary. All your Physical tests are fine as it’s just you beasting yourself. When it comes to the medical stuff, sometimes that part is just completely out of your control/hands. As long as your all good on that side of things and your ready to smash yourself on your physical tests, you’ll not have any problems at all and you’ll get a start date for basic.
Stop worrying. Get the head down (sleep). You will be fine. Learning curve thing.
Appreciate your messages thanks
Are the Royal Irish apart of 16 Air Assault Brigade?
Do the army do operations with the Raf or navy or marines
Can you apply anytime like in the summer?
Been binge watching youre videos for a good few months now glad to see you make a comeback👍🏽 are you mech inf? What role mate
Glad your liking them mate! Yeah it’s good to be back at it again. So I’m light Recce strike, mixture of light vehicles and light role (on your feet) in 16 Air Assault. (1 Royal Irish).
@@Rangermedia sounds really good I want to join light mechanised by 18 but there’s not a lot of content on there can you make a video solely explaining you’re role?
Due to arrive at 1RI end of march, do you know any detail/exercises the battalion is going on throughout the year?
Yes mate there’s plenty happening both home & abroad. Not the right place to talk about specific details but if your arriving in March you’ll definitely be involved in some of the key events this year.
Great video mate. I've basically wanted to join the army since I was a young girl, now I have my own time I'm seriously thinking about it.
The thing is last year my mum died and I was completly healthy in weight before then. I managed to put on so much weight (I'm currently weighing 125kg)
I want to join up but I know I won't pass with my weight as it is. I've been having problems with motivation to loose weight as my mother died and I have no other family as well as friends. Is there any advice you could give? I have seen other soldiers who said to start the application to loose weight and join up but I honestly don't think I will loose 65kg in that time. I wanna join up as a driver in the rlc.
Hey, so weight drop can take time and I wouldn’t advise any type of crash diets to loose substantial amounts of weight in a short time. The tests to join are a lot more overall fitness based, so looking at strength as well as cardio. Cardio (run) tests are a lot more easier than what they used to be. I think a pass for Infantry is 2km in something like 11-12 mins which is crazy achievable. Especially going to the RLC your times will be different again but exact details would be on the Army website but much more achievable than the old 1.5mile under 10:30. Like I said it looks at overall fitness now, so where you might be slower than others you might make it up on strength.
When your setting out and your wanting to drop weight and get fitter and have no idea how to, obviously you can go to a gym where there is instruction etc but they will obviously be civilian oriented.
When it comes to fitness training I highly recommend Coach Mike Chadwick, he’s got an Instagram account. His programs a designed to the individual and their goals, so joining up soldier route, P company and SF selection. He’s served as a Para before then becoming a coach. Obviously this is a payed option, so completely up to you and what you can do financially but it’s well worth it. It can be geared towards the use of a gym or if you don’t have access to a gym. Just need running gear or some sort of fitness/smart watch to time yourself.
If that’s not an option, I’d recommend going on the Army’s website seeing what the physical tests are, then doing them at home to see where you are in terms of results.
I'm struggling to decide on what to do I know you're a soldier but wondered if you can help with some advice. I originally joined up nearly. year to join the British army and passed medical requirements even though I have a medical condition. During my application, my mum died and I contacted my local recruitment and had a talk and decided to withdraw my application as a soldier.
During that time, I've completed a level 3 paramedic science and completed it. I found out on the British army website I can now join the army as an officer.
I'm struggling on deciding if I should go to university and get a degree then join up. Or join up and get a degree whilst in the British army.
I understand you're a soldier and not an officer but I would love your perspective on what you would advice.
So totally depends on what you want out of your time in service. Are you just looking to serve for a few years to gain experience or looking at potentially making a full career out of it.
Also how fast are you wanting to start, as if you go to Uni, it could be a few more years until you get started.
Soldier option will take more time served to be in a decent leadership position. Officer, you’ll be straight into that position once commissioned and qualified in whatever role you choose.
Infantry- you would be a PL commander and run an Infantry platoon alongside a PL Sgt, who would be the senior soldier of the PL and would of likely be in service for around 10 years or so.
@@Rangermedia Thanks mate, after watching more of your videos and carrying out research I decided to join directly as an officer rather then go to university and join whilst I'm there as I feel the army will give me way more opportunities.
I do have a question though about re-joining the army though. A lot of your videos woke me up to the things I'll be facing whilst in my opinion the pros out weigh the cons.
Say I passed basic training and went on tour/operations and realised I'm not fully ready for this and stuck out for the next 4 years, if I left would I be able to re-join say when I'm older could I rejoin and pick up where I left of if I was 29/30 or would it have to be withim the age gap (28 I believe for officers) I am joining and want to join but just a bit worried about the what ifs.
Im currently in the process of getting my British Citizenship and will (hopefully!) be British by the end of 2023, afterwards im hoping to become an Officer in the army and i was wondering if you could perhaps go into more detail about the officer side of things? Maybe even just from things you hear from Officers or any knowledge you may have?
Joining as a regular is tempting but becoming an Officer is certainly one of my larger goals in life and hearing more about it from you would be great.
Thanks in advance!
How was your deployment?
Was ok to get out mate but very long (no RnR) 2 weeks off in the middle. Definitely wasn’t my best deployment.
hey mate are you in the infantry?
Yes mate I’m a PL Sgt in a Rifle company.
@@Rangermedia nice fairplay keep it up your doing amazing work ive watched some of your videos helped me out alot im joining the infantry soon just waiting on my passport
Happy days and I’m glad they’ve helped! What Regiment are you hoping to join?
My son is in the army. He went to Harrogate. For the last two years he's been sweeping a garage, he's lost all his skills from phase 2. He hasn't left the barracks. AT seems to be for a clique. Decent exercises are for the favourites. He wishes that he'd joined the navy. The organisation is terrible. Im my opinion the army couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery
What trade/unit did your son join? Everything I publish is based on my experiences and my unit. Which has been overseas somewhere every year for as long as I can remember. 17 years this year , I mentioned having friends in different Infantry Regiments who have had pretty much the same experiences when it comes to going overseas. With them belonging to either the Royal Regiment of Scotland, The Rifles and Parachute Regiment. We also do a lot of external courses, which is where we get to mix with the rest of the Infantry and from the conversations with guys outside of the Regiments I’ve mention, they’re the same. Transferring Roles/Regiments is a common thing, I know a few guys who’ve had a positive experience with a transfer. So might be an option if your son isn’t enjoying where he’s at now.
Sounds like he joined the Signals! LOL From an ex-Scaley
