Great video mate, 40 years with a ID card in the Fleet air arm Royal Navy, I can fully concur with you, to be taken around the world visit places and getting paid for it is fantastic. Not to mention the courses Ive been on and gain civilian qualifications, Scuba diving, Kayaking, Sailing yachts, surfing, Power boats, Skiing, mountain walking, artic survival in Norway, to name but a few !! The opportunities are endless ! The Military is an amazing family enjoy shippers.
Glasgow123 You’ll be told about you battalion before you finish training in ITC. Most of the time you’ll get your first choice. Regards to the specialist platoons I can’t speak for other Regiments but with ours everyone coming from basic training will go straight to a Rifle company to develop their skills. 1-2 years before moving to a specialist weapons platoon.
Another great video mate seriously I’m glad I found your channel thanks for taking your time on putting this videos 💯👌,I think many people underestimate the benefits the Army provides and focus just on the negative and many times people that talk negative never serve or they had a uncle that serve ages ago and it was all bad 😂....that’s why I’m not telling anyone I’m joining just really close ones like my fiancé and mum because sometimes even family can try to put you off .
Joe7 D No problems at all mate. Yeah your right there and a lot of negative things also come from people who arnt suited for the lifestyle either. Just surround yourself with positivity and nothing will stop you.!
Another great video and content, keep up the great work. Wish I had joined the RI when I had the chance. Still a massive regret of mine. I’m going to start referring my cadets to your channel as I get loads of questions about joining up and the opportunities. Look forward to the next video 🤙
Thanks appreciated, yeah send them across I would be happy to have the appart of the community. I’m in and around NI for a wile so would love to get out to the cadet group as well at some point.
Ben Adamson Thanks mate, yeah it’s a lot better set up, hopefully try and keep it 😂. Sitting working on a British Army tribute one as we speak, going live Monday 🤟🏻☘️
i was lucky enough to go to South Africa in 2016 and spent some time training with the anit poaching unit at one of the game reserves... All free of charge! although i did pay for flights to get there. When we werent training they took us round the reserve on a private wee game drive, was amazing
Me and brother just turned 16 and sent our applications away hopfully if we get in we stay together and join the royal regument of scotland 1st or 4th battalion
FoxInCrocs Glad you like it, just all about the positivity it leads to great things. I’m putting together a tribute to the whole British Army, will be on the channel on Monday.
hi. I am currently on my first stages of application. I really like your videos and most of my ears disappeared. Thank you for making the videos. However, I have applied to the regular infantry but I am currently 3 months away from the end of my college. Is it possible to do a video on that situation/position.
Great video mate, 99days till basic .... so excited... quick question, I’d rather ask this on here rather than insta so more can see if they need it, but is there anything I should bring too phase 1 that isn’t on the list, maybe items that help ???
Ranger Media yeah mate, I was the guy on insta who’s off to Catterick on 31st May, the list is very short and just curious if there’s anything els you would recommend
josh munden if you can afford it definitely passport photographs this will save you loads of time when you first arrive. Send me a phot of the list on insta I’ll have a look at it.
Devils Hellhound What you do when you get there is totally dependent on what the operation is mate. You deploy when your units time to go comes up. This is on a rotation cycle with other units, it varies across the army.
Id love a vid about promotional opportunities within the army/inf in particular? and also how often do you go out of country? and whats the best trade to join to get out of country as often as possible?
Yeah I can do mate, If you go into my playlist “Infantry jobs” I put together a shirt series on specialist roles available in the Infantry. I think I touch on promotion aspects in one of them. A trade out of the Infantry for more deployments, wouldn’t depend on the trade but the unit or core you join with your trade. As it’s the fighting Unit you get attached to that will deploy. There’s other stuff like infrastructure work in not so well of countries you can go on with the Engineers, medics will do stuff as well. Everyone deploys, the Army is mega busy now, with the Infantry flat out on all sorts of stuff. If you’re keen and put the work in Promotion in the Infantry is quick up to junior commander (corporal) section commander - (best job in the Army) 👌
@@Rangermedia i want to join the inf is there any regiments that are more active than others? i wanted to join spec inf (seems they get out and about alot) but people have said you arnt able to join them straight from training? If thats true do you know what you need to do first?
Brandon yeah you need to spend some time in a normal infantry regiment before you can go there. The nature of the job requires the teams to be rank heavy. This is because you need to be qualified in a certain role. Honestly Lcpl would be minimum as infantry, looking more like Cpl so you have all the instructor quals. The Infantry as a whole is mega busy at the minute mate, so by choosing a unit go for what best suits you, location and role. I’d advise going for something away from home. Doesn’t have to be that way, In my experience I joined up to get away and venture out to other places etc .
Another great video bud! Do you have any advice on getting better at my running? Awaiting to go away for my assessment centre but wanting to try to get my 1.2mile run time down??
Pxwsi Thanks mate. So the best form of training for that is interval training. Ie (sprints). Football pitch or something similar and mark it out, sprinting a distance and resting (jog) active recovery. This style of training where your raising your heart rate up and giving it minimum time to recover will start to bring down run times, for a distance test like 1.2miles. An easy one I used to do before I joined was when I was out running I would sprint and jog between lampposts or other prominent features along the route.
Touching on what ranger said in regards to interval/fartlek running, as well as that if your timeframe allows it consider muay thai/Thai boxing it is a remarkable form of anaerobic training that incorporates elevating your heart rate to around the 80/90% HR zone with short rest periods between rounds it will greatly increase your vo2 max, and also has the added benefit of being a full body workout incorporating a lot of compound/full body movements. good luck mate 👍
Hi, how easy is it to transfer from the reserves to a regular? I've applied to join the reserve whilst finishing university but wanted to know if I could transfer to regs a year later? Thanks
Hi Charley sorry about the late reply. It’s all depends on the trade that you decide to take on when you head to the reserves. In short yes you can make the transition into the regulars. Any extra training etc to make the transition would be explained to you.
Hi Luke, I’m looking to join the infantry I’m 30 years old at the older end of recruitment. I aiming for the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment. I just wandering is it worth at my age I’m ex civvie police and it wasn’t enough for me. Feel like in 2005 i should signed up.
Mike Blac I’d say if you really want it go for. PWRR is a great Regiment. Age is just a number mate and with being in the police you’ll have certain experiences you could lean on. There was actually a guy commented the other day who’s arriving to train for the Parachute Regiment and he’s 31.
