An important tip I feel is missing: ALWAYS (especially as a beginner) carefully inspect a rare and boss monster talent tab before starting the fight. In fact, bind a key to "inspect creature" to make this action instant. If you play with a class that has a skill that can silence the opponent (like the archer) you want to know if this opponent know any spells first, you want to know if it can Rush you, or in general you want to know how it can f*ck you over and either plan against it, or at least get a pretty decent understanding of the reason you died so you can learn something useful for the next run (like "I need a mean to counter Fearscape" x_x rip).
Thank you sir! Been wanting to get back into myself. Best part of Tome is that by the time you make it through all the classes/builds it’s almost like new starting over again.
I have over four hundred hours in the game, and seeing you reposition a Last Hope town folk into the water for experience had me screaming in disbelief.
Lol, I was totally against it at first but after about 1000 hours in I started seeing it as a fun little lottery at the beginning of every game. No more drowning citizens though, apparently its "unheroic" =/
thanks for the tips just started the game played as sword and shield class was doing ok till i got to a level in trollmire with a sealed door opened it and was killed by a ton of strong foes.
@SAU Those are vaults or you got to the end and ran into Bill. Vaults warn you before opening them and will always have dangerous foes in them. Its generally still worth it to get used to opening vaults EXCEPT for Rhaloren Camps. Blood Cultists will one shot you regularly with Soul Rot.
@@BlackBinderGames wait you can get one shot...may think about playing with no permadeath i mean that feel so cheap to play for so long only to get killed in one hit.
@@ryanclemons1 Being one shot outsider Rhaloren Camp or Dark Crypt is rare but it can happen. You can also be one shot out of auto explore(more rare). That’s why I play on adventure lol
I just tried my first run as an Elf Thalore Arcane Blade. I lost a couple of lives to a dog-like boss that summons shadows. I left and came back after a couple of levels and finished him. Then a skeleton archer boss with a magic shield wrecked me twice before I decided to leave and try again later. At level 11, I ran into this level 25 necromancer boss, and he nuked the crap out of me. I used my resurrection potion and tried to get away, but he teleported to the exit and put me down for good. I think the zone I entered said for levels 7-16, so I am not sure why a boss 9 levels higher than that was there. I appreciate the tips for stacking hit points early, prioritizing getting damage resistances up, and getting stun and confusion resistances as well. I will try the same build again the next time I play.
The "recommended level" numbers aren't actually "what level you should be" but I believe the minimum level enemies will spawn. The best way to look at it is comparing that number to the numbers of other dungeons you have been able to beat. EVEN THEN, however lol, some zones even with the same recommended level are more difficult than others(They call Daikara "DIEkara" for a reason). If you want there is a recommended zone route on the wiki, its mostly accurate.
@@BlackBinderGames I will look for that on the wiki. I did notice that another player spawned a zone (recommended to be level 15+) guarded by a bear boss that was level 7 on me when I was still level 2-3. That wasn't an easy fight for me early on, but I dealt with it. I think I got a pop up message when that happened.
@@BlackBinderGames No, I beat the bear boss that was guarding the entrance when it aggroed onto me. I ignored the zone, since I was so under-leveled for it. I kind of wonder why other players are allowed to throw stuff like that at new players, when it's well beyond their ability to beat.
The problem with heavy armor is the stat requirements. by endgame I can sometimes collect enough str gear to equip maybe level 3 heavy chest. Is that really worth it over nice level 5 light pieces? Or do you pump strength as casters?
@Alex Unfortunately shortly after I made this video 1.6 came out which upgraded robes quite a bit. I do think massive armor is still better than the upgraded robes by endgame but not by enough to matter. Before 1.6 I would sometimes increase strength but mostly I just kept +10str or more items for the purposes of wearing heavy stuff.
I realize this is a very old video, but I'm just getting into this game and wanted to thank you for the tips. One question I do have is how you get what seems to be such a zoomed out view of the area. My "camera" lools like it's a lot closer to my character, and I have a lot less of an overview of the area. Thanks in advance 👍
I think it’s “tile size” in the game options. For the UI itself, there is a tiny padlock you can click on in game which will let you click and drag and also resize everything. I definitely suggest playing with smaller tile sizes because some enemies will be able to hit you from out of sight otherwise.
I am a noob that likes to play magic classes but I I think about 95% of my deaths come from ranged enemies in vaults. I don't seem to have nearly as much problem with this when playing a fighter class bu I don't enjoy playing them as much. Do you just ignore vaults if you are playing as a squishy magic class?
In the beginning, depending on the class, there are a few vaults I would avoid. The Rhaloren Camp vaults are very dangerous because they can spawn Corruptors which have a skill that has a high chance of critting you, which can one shot a bunch of classes. Tempests can also spawn and are also dangerous, but they just do high damage overall and are less likely to truly one shot you. In the Old Forest there is also a vault that has 2 Worms That Walk(the "servant" variety are no where near as dangerous) which are also incredibly dangerous. They only come at you one at a time but that is enough. If you cant blow them up in 2 turns or severely disable them, I would ignore those as well. The last tip I would say is don't open any vaults unless you have a non-teleport escape ability(movement infusion would be the best) and to open them at a diagonal so you avoid getting ranged by everyone as soon as they see you. The reason you don't want a teleport escape is that the walls of the vault are "no teleport" blocks and can completely fizzle your teleport ability even if you don't target them(I haven't figured out exactly why it works like that).
Youll need to find the "padlock" button. Its pretty small but visible on the playscreen. Then you can click and drag the corner to make the bar bigger. In the options menu you can also set the size of your icons small so more fit on the bar.
Its a combination of mouse targeting and auto targeting. Auto targeting can be done by hitting the skill button(lets say lightning) and then hitting it again to release the skill. As for mouse targeting I just put my mouse where I want to shoot, hit 1 and then immediately click. This can sometimes result in a miss which I do on occasion(even in this video). For harder fights or if Im in danger I will slow down. I did have to reconfigure the keyboard setup to a more traditional WASD set up so I can always have my hand on the mouse.
