Wonderful to visit there with you, Leo. Even without the benefit of your live view, there is a sense of the ancient to the landscape. You've given me a new appreciation of the Isle of Avalon and the legends and stories that refer to it. It would be an impressive 'island' in the midst of the flooded marshes. Other than for the occasional transit by figures of legend, the area seems like one in which humans are an unwanted intrusion, an area where they were never intended to be, an area where they should not go. Best that you are doing well - keep it awesome, my friend - peace
What you need, sir, is a time-machine...when mine gets out of the shop, I'll swing by to yours and you just point the way...😉 Thanks for taking us along...
Hello Leo, nice to see you! Two weeks ago I was fist time in USA/Maryland. Very nice pleace were you, The dutch to the same in parts of Germany. I hope next summer you came to Soest again! Best regards Kai
@@TheAmbulatoryAnarchist I was their by bissness. I get 4 Cornal and Deal . Bryer Fox, 2x Bayou Morniing Flake und Alterhours. I bay them by smoking pipe and send it to the hotel.
You sum up my feelings for the Levels entirely! I lived on the edge of them on and off for about 10 years. The primeval and ethereal nature of them really drew me in. I also love the juxtaposition of the fertile Levels and the hostile, stone walled, Mendip Hills. What a landscape...
Thanks Pete, I'm glad you got where I was coming from in my "er-um" waffle. I was doing some truck driving around there last week, and I was a bit frustrated that I couldn't just dump the lorry in a layby somewhere and go for a ramble, so I figured I'd go for one today. You no doubt know the history of the place far better than I do, but it's a landscape that I feel such a degree of affinity and kinship with that I am determined to explore the little corners of it a lot more. I was hoping to catch some bitterns at RSPB Greylake, but the cat-mewl calls of water rails was all I witnessed there today. Nonetheless, it's a bloody marvellous place, and as I said, that feeling of being on the edge of what really wants to be a wilderness is just so exciting. Bloody marvellous.
@@TheAmbulatoryAnarchist We'll have to have a day out there together some time mate. I'm sure I could show you bitterns, great white egrets, marsh harriers and hobbies on a good day. God I love that landscape! I also know a good spot for a breakfast... 😉
Another great video, these places are gradually being lost, good to celebrate them while we can. Agree about Special latakia flake, such a shame it’s getting harder to find, just like the wild places.
Thanks, buddy. I think it's about time you did some videos yourself. You always seem to have something interesting to say, and I'm sure you have some interesting knowledge to impart. Take care and thanks as always for watching and commenting
Thanks for sharing!!!!
