    Interesting background conversations in Mission Control (3:48 and at other times 7:40) regarding NASA's "domestic" arrangements in the run-up to the landing (so this was while orbiting the moon prior to undocking & landing).
    The White House is trying to get in touch with Frank Borman - who was advising the President in the Oval Office during the moonwalk the next day.
    The voice sounds like Jack King of the Public Affairs Office - The Voice of Apollo.

  • @paftmont
    @paftmont Год назад

    They're just moving still photos around the camera lens. How is this not totally obvious? An actual orbit would show the moon constantly moving underneath. AT 9:50 the photo just sits still for a very long time. This is impossible if this were an actual orbit. Think of a satellite orbiting the earth. What you would see below would be a constantly moving scene. Here it is painfully obvious these are still photos being moved around in front of a camera.

    • @zounds010
      @zounds010 Год назад +3

      Incorrect. They're pointing a handheld camera out the window, and pointing it to keep certain terrain features centered. The movement of the camera masks the movement of the ship over the terrain.
      And they're in lunar orbit, at a much lower orbital speed than you'd see above Earth. In both cases, they're at an altitude high enough that the terrain below doesn't whiz by. You get the same effect in an airplane. During takeoff, the terrain goes past the window at a high rate. Once you're at cruising altitude, the terrain seems to move very slowly.

    • @photadyta
      @photadyta 9 месяцев назад

      It's not obvious because I've never been in space or used a handheld film camera in space. I don't claim to know what any of that is supposed to look like.
