I love these guys. Wish I'd known about them when I was young. Individually, they were NOT great (or even very) professional singers. But together... Magic!! Group singing often does that. See: Barbershop harmony. Such timeless tunes. And this crap about the arrangements or the band? Don't forget, they all played instruments, so were quite possibly some of the soloists!

the Fantastic Four who were the crucial inspiration for Brian Wilson's Beach Boys and a multitude of others who we all know, reincarnated here in a superb re mastering of their voices and instruments...it's Magic!
    Thank you for this !

At about the 31 minute mark, they sing Imagination. The King Sisters were great admirers of the Four Freshman and recorded their great arrangement of Imagination in the 50's.based on Four Freshman concepts. The beautiful FF adaption of the King Sisters' version is a wonderful tribute back to the King Sisters who they greatly respected.

For many years now I've come to TFF fan sites such as this, as the day draws to a close. What better way to sign off than reminiscing over the days of my kind of music. My thanks to 'haru oh' for putting this wonderful selection together, and to the music lovers who have added their lovely comments; it all makes for a pleasant hour before turning in . . .

Recorded in 1962 !!! Orchestration and arrangements seem absolutely correct for that time. Quite lush, sometimes overdone, but that's what "adult contemporary" (a later genre cat.) sounded like then.

No vocal group could touch The Four Freshmen. The later Four Freshmen groups were also very talented. I'm not familiar with this particular album they released. Wonder who the band was. Very good arrangements.

My only complaint is the inclusion of Tom Dooley. Just does not fit with this great Playlist. Some don,'t like the orchestra and arrangements. They're fine but the mix is a bit uneven. Great vocals. Thoroughly enjoyable!
