Very powerful effect. Been debating between HR and helix for my next gear purchase. Love the ease of use of the HR. Or maybe u just make it look easy. Lol. Great vid, thanks!
Excellent vid, thanx. Where would you typically put the Smart Harmonizer in the effect chain to get the best guitar sound (rather than computerized sound)?
Hey Doc, First, I am really learning a lot about the Headrush from you. 2nd, I really apologize for this being a really long comment and question!! Please forgive me!! I am literally going crazy on a day to day basis trying to decide between this and the Helix. Money wise, it definitely makes more sense; for what I want, need and do to purchase the Headrush. However......and it's a HUGE HOWEVER, the Harmonizer Effect is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to me and ultimately will make me choose which unit to purchase. I was really hoping with this Video, you'd really go in to just how much this could help a LONE GUITARIST, such as myself, be able to pull off Harmony Leads, on my own, such as Classic Rock stuff by bands along the lines of Thin Lizzy, Def Leppard, Judas Priest, Ratt and others like Night Ranger, Dokken....you know, basic Dual Lead songs from the late 70's through the 80's. I'm well aware of how good the Smart Harmony is with the Helix and Helix HX, not to mention, modeling the Eventide HD 1000 & 3000 gives you the opportunity to create the LUSH Chorus that a DETUNE can provide by setting it around the +14 together with the -14 in the Detune area of a Harmonizer and the setting inside the old Yamaha SPX 90 and the SPX 90 II....(version 2.) The Lush Chorus is not as important to me as the response and tracking of the Harmonizer. I did notice just a touch of a "Warbling...Shaking Sound" in the Headrush. I realize this video is 2 years ago and maybe, at that time, you just had not had the opportunity with the Headrush to really know the potential of the Harmonizer and know how to be set it properly. This is why I'm writing to you now. Have you worked much more...or any more with the Harmonizer Effect and if so, how is it when it comes to just doing Dual Harmonies....maybe in the key of A minor, playing only a Minor 3rd? It would be rare that I would need to add an extra note to the Dual Leads. I can't remember what Scale I used on the Helix. The Thin Lizzy song that comes to mind...."Boys Are Back In Town," the Ratt song "Round and Round," just to name a couple. If you receive this NOVEL, have the chance to check it out, then HOPEFULLY reply, then maybe I'll be able to return to some sense of NORMALCY!!....LOL...🤪 Again, I have really enjoyed and learned a lot about the Headrush with the help of your Demo Videos. So much, you've earned your own "Playlist Folder" among the long list of Playlist I've created!!! I'll try not to lose any sleep or hold my breath waiting for you to reply. I realize the chances are slim. But, if by chance you do reply with an answer, I'd be a really happy person and can go purchase what I need!!! It stinks, I will say, Headrush doesn't have much in the way of Videos on their site or on here, not to mention virtually ZERO from anyone about the Harmonizer Effect on the Headrush!! Sorry for the NOVEL! I do hope to get an answer from you before the next Century!!! Take care and thanks again!!
At 2:32 in this video you can see the setup page for the S/Harm. The problem I have is it doesn't resemble the same page I have! The voice 1 and voice 2 harmony (3rd & 5th) on my HR are not on the side strip as yours is but are below the scale and key! Are there others like this? Are there two different updates?
Great vid ! I just got the gigboard and it would be great if you could do a vid on some settings like global, in and out settings. Im also wondering how to contect cables for going to 1x12 frfr powered cab and also run out to pa foh?
Check out my playlist for the Headrush Pedalboard. There is tons of info that can be applied to the Gigboard. There are a few minor differences in the Global settings but nothing major.
i am trying to build a "Byrds" preset. I am using the Smart Harm (octave preset) but there is always a kind of "distortion" coming of "behind" the note played..... Is there something i can change? thanks....
The Gigboard really doesn't have a dual output path like the Pedaboard version. You can use the headphone output to send to the FRFR though. Just think of the FRFR as your headphones and it works in the same way. You would adjust the overall volume on the FRFR.
@@DoctorMcFarlandStudios Thank you..Hope to see you post more vids on the gigboard. The gain leveling really helped. How do you cut lows on cab ? Do you have a pre rolla ir to share?
@@bostonmike9003 I assume you mean the stock cabs? If I need less bass then I will use the SM57 mic which naturally rolls off the low end. I like that sound with a dirty tone and I like the R121 for clean tones which naturally rolls off the highs and boosts the lows.
Hi, I´m trying to get the two guitar harmony that is played on the solo in the song Child's Anthem from Toto but haven´t succeed....can you please give a few tips in creating it on the Headrush Gigboard? Thank you for your kind answer...greetings from Lima Peru...
So, I'm a metal guitarist and I just got my pedalboard. I want to be able to harmonize like dual guitar solos while I'm the only one playing. Is that a possibility, and how would you recommend doing it?
What is the best way to just have 1 harmony instead of 2 in the settings? Also, how do I get the harmony on the low end instead of the high end? I'm still trying to figure out the Smart Harmony and all that it does.
Headrush should update the smart harmonizer.. the harmonizer doesnt sustain a note in pitch.. im a bit dissappointed with this specific effect..headrush is a great unit..
Harmony in Boss effects are the best I think..
yeah they are really good.
Very powerful effect. Been debating between HR and helix for my next gear purchase. Love the ease of use of the HR. Or maybe u just make it look easy. Lol. Great vid, thanks!
The 7" touchscreen is what sold me. It makes building rigs so much faster and the tone of the unit is amazing.
Excellent vid, thanx. Where would you typically put the Smart Harmonizer in the effect chain to get the best guitar sound (rather than computerized sound)?
Towards the front of the chain is ideal
I don't have half of these settings on my gig board. Anybody else finding this?
Geoff Smith what firmware are you on?

I will check into this and do a shootout between the two units using the Smart Harmony effect.

Thank you!
I'm really looking forward to your thoughts and possible video.
Take care!
Great video!!!! Can I ask you how would you connect the headrush to have a great sound in a live?
Matteo Rinaldi there is not much you really have to do. Just run your XLR out to the board and crank it up.

727strat mine was a Beta version. The new one looks different.
What is the guitar that you’re using?
its the Reverend Jetstream 390.

Just make sure the delay time is set to zero.
?? Gigboard, live use running into a frfr powered cab. Can I also run out into front house? If so how?
Do I have change any settings in global?

I’d like to know as well...
Sounds kinda like my old IPS33b and DHP5000.
Questions...can you run more than 1 block of the smart harm fx and are you limited to +/-1 octave?

Sounded like Woody Woodpecker!

What do you mean?
So you are saying if you are playing a long overdriven note the harmony shuts off?
