Cheap Film Point and Shoot Cameras!

  • Jumping into film can be quite intimidating, especially from a camera stand-point. With expensive, legendary point and shoots like Contax, it can be difficult to know where to begin and what's an appropriate price for your first film point and shoot camera. Varying in lens focal length, size, portability, and price range, I go over my top, cheap, 35mm, film point and shoots that are AFFORDABLE but still give great function and use in today's inflated market. Let me know in the comments, which film point and shoots you started on, and if I missed any noteworthy cameras! Enjoy!

Thank you to the wonderful RUclips Film Community, Reddit.com/analog, and Lomography's Gallery for providing great BRoll and photos for cameras that I sadly do not own and cannot film myself. Without my detail orientated peers, this video would have been considerably more boring

I used to have a Minolta Hi-Matic AF2-M. It took nice photos, but was too big to be slipped into a pocket, so I sold it a few years ago. I'd love to get a point and shoot again, but a little smaller than that Minolta was. Nice list!

Good choice of cameras man. The olympus point and shoot camera like the Infinity series are good options below 100 bucks! I use to own a Infinity 75 camera, but I traded mine for Ricoh Rz 1050.

I think its worth mentioning that the first Leica mini point and shoot is a rebranded Minolta Riva which can be picked up for a third of the price. I had a slightly different model Riva for years (Riva 100AF) which was very good. Equally the C2 Zoom is based on the Minolta Riva Zoom 90c.

First P&S camera is the one I’m currently shooting, Ricoh TF-500

The Olympus AF-1 was my first film camera and was the best decision I’ve made! It’s a great P&S that was a sharp lens and it’s waterproof. There’s also a hack you can do that can make take sharper photos but you’ll lose the waterproof trait of the camera. But in my case, glad I did!
Stoked you mentioned this camera because I always recommend it

@@Oisink3d you probably rip off the filter in front of the lens.

My first point and shoot was a Nikon L35AF, the original version, purchased in Hong Kong shortly after they were first released, and before they hit the West. My then current camera was a Nikon EM SLR. The L35 was quite a revelation for me, just loads easier to use, and carry around, than an SLR. The L35 was my regular camera till around the early 90's, when I bought an Olympus AF-10, which I used through to the mid 2000's. Very happy with both of them. Thanks for putting up this video.

Canon Sure Shot TeleMax (or Max) is a surprisingly great performer for little money. Canon Sure Shots from the 90’s+ tend to be really good for the money. Personally, I tend to grab my L35AF though.

I had an AF-10 from new in the early '90's. Took lots of really good photos with it, and so easy to use. I re-acquired an AF-10 recently, just waiting for pics to return from developers.

Hi! Thanks for this video. So you say that there isn't much difference between an Olympus trip 35 and a trip 505 or 600?
