Loved this conversation. In 2018 on a trip to Lisbon I visited Pessoa’s home museum and I recommend it to anyone interested in his fascinating life and writing.
Hats off to Richard Zenith for all his brilliant translations of Pessoa' verse & prose. This biography of 1055 pages is yet another great contribution to the legacy of Pessoa. I got my copy of it two days ago 🙏🏿
Of late Pessoa has become very popular with Indian writers. Pandurang bhangi has translated his poems into Konkani and m v lovekar works on translating him in Marathi
Pessoa was so ahead of his time. He was like a proto-absurdist and that quote about how "intellectuals should change their opinion every half hour" is very proto-Discordian and reminiscent of Robert Anton Wilson's writings on 'reality tunnels'.
That's a great content! I've been a Pessoa's fan for a while and would like to get Richar Zenith to my podcast. I searched online but haven't found his contact details. I wonder would it be possible to get it from you? Thanks a lot :) I also live in Portugal and go to Casa Fernando Pessoa very often!
I lost my passion for reading at a very young age. I'm definately not into poetry. Since I'm portuguese I was originally drawn to Pessoa out of curiosity for a fellow countryman.......but really I don't think I've come across something as magical as Pessoa in his field. To me the guy was a sort of mystic philosopher who happened to be lyrical and poetic.I'd love to be wrong and find something better, as I'd really like to read more.....but everything reads kinda boring. The guy felt like he was channeling the collective soul or something.

What an extraordinary intellectual experience. I am just reading the biography. It is ingenious. Congratulations to Mr. Zenith! Thank you very much.

Challenge accepted, I'll take up the mantle.
