"On this episode of The Transfigured Life, we talk with Fr. Christopher Foley and Fr. James Bozeman, formerly with a band called Luxury. They share their story with us from their Evangelical background and part in an up-and-coming rock-and-roll band, to a life-changing car accident that later led them to the priesthood. They share marital wisdom, talk about vocation, and much more."

I was a vocalist in a punk band with my then future wife on drums. We were called State of Emergency on RUclips. We now have 4 kids and are Orthodox. Lord have mercy
20, 20, 24 hours to go
I wanna be chrismated
Former black metal fan and musician here 🇳🇴
I still listen to metal and punk rock
I connect with this so much. I am a metal drummer who became Orthodox myself. I still love playing and use it as a creative outlet but I am also thinking of seminary or priesthood at my old age 🤣
This really spoke to me. As a catechumen I’ve been suffering so much in this journey to Orthodoxy and this was very encouraging.
What a wonderful testimony of coming from Punk Rock to Orthodoxy!
A couple quick things, I loved the father’s comments on “whatever you do, do for the Glory of God! Whether a Priest, a house painter or whatever it may be, do for the Glory of God!
And of course the ending of the interview, the question you posed Luther, “Why become Orthodox?”
The answer that jumped out at me was “To experience Christ in His FULLNESS! To get ALL of the ‘tools’ one NEEDS to live this life in Christ! To bring the fruits of repentance and grow in the fullness that Christ wants for our lives.” ❤️☦️
Thank you for another wonderful interview and quite a different & unexpected story of Punk Rock to Orthodoxy!! Who would have thought! Glory to God for all things! 🙏☦️
Sadly the documentary of a band called Luxury has not being made viewable outside of the USA by the “tubitv” website. Is there by chance a copy of this up on RUclips itself?
Thanks as always brother for your amazing comments. As far as the documentary I'll look around I think it could be watched on RUclips as well but RUclips is renting it for a small fee I believe.
Thanks for your testimonies, Fathers. I'm thankful also to, particularly, Fr James about mixed marriages. That's where I'm at: being Orthodox and my wife a different type Christian. It's hard, but there are blessings along the way.
Lord have mercy! ☦️
My favorite punk band: Undercover! Favorite song: “3 nail, 3days, 1 way to God”! And “One of these days”
Listened to all this music in the 90s! So much nostalgia. And to have ended up in the Orthodox Church as well is awesome! I secretly hope they’re talking to some of those other musicians from that time and helping them find the Church.
Mind. blown... ask me whatever happened to the bands I worked with in the 90s and I'd never have thought this. I was one of the guys who helped run "Christian" clubs Luxury played at. Well, two really... The Strand in Marietta and the Pterodactyl in Smyrna. 😂
A really enjoyable discussion. 🙂
Thanks brother 🙂☦️
Amen and amen! I will be sharing your story. Blessing to you all.
Thanks for sharing!! ☦️
I'll have to watch this later. I'm an old punk whose given up on it, but I still think Orthodox is a cult of religionists who, as Jesus said, "through the traditions of men make the word of God to none effect."
Our traditions don't come from just any men, but from Christ's apostles themselves. Unlike the Catholic Church which changes with the winds from year to year, our bishops have preserved the traditions of the apostles over the centuries. Our Church, beliefs and traditions have changed little in the last 2000 years since Christ walked the earth. I pray Christ will draw you to His Church.
@@ienjoyapples I inquired into the Orthodox cult at one point by asking questions, and the cultists just told me to "go away if you don't like Orthodox." That stupid "living orthodox" cultist "father" even blocked me from asking questions.
You guys are the same religionists from the scriptures who put sacraments and other traditions of men over the law and commandments, so that people won't see the relentless political theology that God teaches. Go kiss an icon, cultist.
@@mikebastiat Sorry to hear you had such a negative experience. I understand you seem to have made up your mind, but I would still like to offer you my time to answer your questions once and for all. Would you like to take me up on that?
@@Fr.JonathanIvanoff It may be a problem with young, new converts online, but I'm not sure. No one seems to admit this problem even exists. All I see is pride in the Orthodox church. It seems like "We're the only real Christians" cult, and everyone else is a "prot" and a "heretic." I'm not sure I can be helped anymore. I'm too annoyed. God save me. I can't get down with icon kissing, robes, priests, "fathers," rituals, the "you only get the holy spirit through an Orthodox baptism," and everything else. These are the markings of a cult.
The word to me is clearly a political manifesto for freedom, and yet all I hear from Orthodox is arguments about baptisms and all this other irrelevant crap and religious infighting that has nothing to do with what God is telling us. And though I have my problems with Protestants too, which I why I came to inquire, it seems to me that Sola scriptura really is a necessary doctrine to refute the religionists who want to make God all about playing dress up and watching a priest smoke some incense in the room. I see why there was a Reformation. You guys are terrible. I've read too many scriptures that refute Orthodox at this point. Your fast days, schedules, abominable incense, etc.
If this is the "one true church" (what a great lie), then Lord save me and bring me to it. Because these people have pushed me away.
…as if protestantism is not “ traditions of men” writ large 🙄
“Imma Lutheran…Calvinist…Arminian…Weslyan…Darbyite…Campbellite…Millerite…etc….ad nauseam.”
“Buh-buh-but Bible!” some will protest. Find out where the “Bible” came from and you’ll find the Church.
"Call no man your father upon earth"
Yet Paul refers to himself as a spiritual father. And that is the sense that is mean when priests are called father. It doesn't mean The Father.
That line you are referring to means not to treat things/those that are not God as God I.e. The Father.
It does not mean not to use the word father at all lol
He, Our Lord, also said call no man 'teacher' and 'master' but the context is clear, regarding the hypocrisy of the Scribes and Pharisees:
"For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. 5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, 6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, 7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. 8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. 9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. 10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ."
So it's not a blanket statement that stands all by itself, but an admonition to all who follow Him: Don't be like these guys, who like to draw attention to themselves with titles they do not deserve.
@@MidnightIsolde Well it's used right next to "Rabbi," and it would appear to me it is precisely referring to religionists like Jews and Orthodox who want people to look to priests and men as their guides.
@@Fr.JonathanIvanoff Like the priests, bishops, fathers, robed wizards, etc., of the Orthodox church.
@@mikebastiatWe’ll just look to you and your pastors as guides. Eh?
