Matt, Oh my gosh! This was awesome. I started my freshman year of college in 1986, I had been doing differetn versions of the wedge since I was 12. I remember a week before college started I was out purchasing my school supplies and of course going into college I decided to buy if you remember "Guess Jeans:, and Girbaud Jeans and I remember saying it is time to move forward with my style, at that point my wedge I had been sporting looked plain, tired, boring, I needed something fashion forward. I am impatient I didnt want to wait to grow my hair out, and if I grew it out I didnt want to do the big teased styles, I also was tired of curling my bangs. I went to the grocery store and bought a hairstyle magazine, I dont remember if it was Sophisticates, or Hairstyles for real people, I looked through and I saw this cut, it looked fresh it looked forward, so I bought the magazine, I had been going to the same hair shop since I was a kid, but I didnt feel like going to that salon so I went to a more modern salon, I like your model sat down and I was so scared, shaking and nervous as my hair was cut short over my ears, my bangs were taken shorter, and thatn the clippers, I was just shaking the whole time but when the cut was done, I was so excited I loved the contrast of the weight line and the short area, I loved the simplicity in styling my stylist just put in mousse and blow dried it jsut using her fingers, and it was so nice, so simple. I kept that cut throughout college and even had it when I got married. I made my husband watch the video, and he said next to the way I have it now, this was the style he liked best on me. It was from this style, I have even with long or short hair have just kept a short fringe. Matt I do agree with you in the era we grew up in there was so much happening so much to look forward to but in reality it has been a let down, yes there have been some neat innovations, but the thing we have lost from that great time is the fun social aspect. I am 53 now I wonder how I would look with this cut now days would I look older or younger, but dang this model is just so owning the look. Also I laugh in the state I reside the rules for hair salons is that they have to use neck strips with capes. And It is awesome I go to a very hip trendy , urban vibe salon and my stylist even uses a striped cape like yours. THis is fun who know I may on my birthday go back to this cut.
