Hey! I hope you’re not disappointed…..let me know what you think about the pad when you have it 😊👍

Do you bottom out when playing harder hits? I have a drumeo quiet pad and one side is foam but thinner than this. So when I play with more volume (and I usually play with heavy sticks) the foam gets all squished and the stick hits the wood underneath, making a "not quiet" sound. So I consider buying this or meinl marshmellow pad.

Hey! Yes, I have the same problem with the Drumeo quiet pad (you will find also a review on my channel).
With the Zultan pad you don´t have this problem and I think you won´t have it with the Meinl pad. I have only the smaller version of the marshmallow pad, but the foam is very thick and I´ve never had this problem that you will hear the stick hitting the wood under the foam.
BUT: the big difference is the rebound and the sound! The Meinl pad has more rebound! And the Meinl pad is quieter! With the Zultan pad you have more volume, but also more stick definition (which I like a lot in combination with less rebound!).
      Hope that helps?

Reflex moongel or zultan? What do you like the most?

    • @dereksdrumchannel

      Sorry for my late answer.......
It´s hard to tell. I switch between the pads after a while.
The moongel is very special, because it´s very soft and quiet. With this pad you can (in my opinion) develop your power, speed and endurance within a short practice time (maybe it´s a kind of "shortcut pad"?). But it´s almost impossible to develop finger control with this pad.
The Zultan pad is almost like the workk side of the Reflexx pad, but, as I mentioned in this video, has a little bit more articulation. I like this pad a lot to practice my "chops" playing softly with a low stick height.
Maybe the Reflexx pad would be the pad I would choose, if I could choose only one pad take it to a lonely island ;-)
But it´s the most expensive of the three pads.
Maybe you have to try out by yourself. It´s a matter ofe taste, of course.
Hope it helped a little bit?
      All the best!
      Derek

@@dereksdrumchannel Is the Zildjian REFLEXX you reviewed good for developing finger control? I cant decide between that, an Evans Real Feel RF12D, and a Vic Firth PAD12D

    • @dereksdrumchannel
      @dereksdrumchannel  Год назад

@@carpii Yes! I can recommend the REFLEXX pad to stengthen the finger muscles, because it has less rebound than a standard rubber pad.
But I also recommend to practice the finger control on a standard rubber pad (for example the two pads you´ve mentioned are great!) to get comfortable with the rebound. So, if you are just starting with the finger control I would recommend a rubber pad in the beginning like the Evans, Vic Firth or a similar pad.......

@@dereksdrumchannel Thanks for the advice :-) I decided to go for an Evans Real Feel, and I'll get a REFLEXX at a later date.

I have the Prologic Blackout comparable to the Reflexx pad and I use the Sabian Quiet tone (with real head) for articulation, buzzes, dynamics, etc.
