I don't think the emotions were about being physically hurt. I'm almost certain she just strongly felt the words of the song. She's singing with more than just love for us. That's passion and feeling her own words.
It's a mix of both but that injury must be a big factor here. She lost a literal chunk of her skin in her left hand and have no time to at least be bandaged properly out of her strict performance timing. Poor baby.

Actually... she was crying because of physical pain. She posted on instagram that she tripped and fell during outfit changes and braced her fall with her hand. That is why she had a huge cut on her hand, not no papercut buddy.@@mathmanchris666

For those whoever wonders about the song, it's a song that depicts about her rights to her music catalogue when Scott Borchetta (her ex manager) sold her music to Scooter Braun without her knowledge. The song is such beautiful imagery how she fought back to take her music back she'd have worked on for years. She produced, wrote, and made the arrangements most of her music which is rare for an artist. And she didn't recieve any kind of tremendous recognition for that.
She said "And I still talk to you (when I'm screaming at the sky)
And when you can't sleep at night (you hear my stolen lullabies)"
Taylor Swift just proved how genuine and devoted she is for her craft and I believe she will be remember for this in music History. Not just for defending her rights but she's also screaming for the future artists that they deserve to own their music. And they will be enlighten how to get away with such dark and manipulative industry.

She and her parents signed the contract. That contract enabled her to get radio play, be an opening act to big musical acts, get on magazines, TV shows, etc. etc. When she turned 18, she continued with the contract.
Braun owned the masters to the songs, because he/the record company was instrumental in Taylor's success.

i dont know what my tears ricochet is about but it still really hurts her and you can see it every time she performs it. so beautiful, emotional and vulnerable. the whole folklore set is amazing. shes really strong and deserves the world.
its about Scott Brochetta (the manager who betrayed her and sold her music to Scooter Braun under her nose). He was a mentor and friend who helped guide her career when she was very young but he chose greed and betrayed her by selling her life work. She just wraps it in a way that makes it more accessible by making it sound like it has to do with a relationship of sorts but it's actually about her ex manager.

They were together for almost seven years and had been pursuing marriage, so going through that break up and then trying to find someone new only for that to come to an end so quickly too would be a tough couple of weeks for anyone to handle, much less someone like Taylor who’s been touring the country, performing in a new city every night for three hour, nonstop shows without breaks while also re-recording every single one of her old albums along with additional bonus tracks and different versions of the record, filming and releasing brand new music videos for most of her re-recorded album singles, oh, and all the while writing, releasing, promoting, and touring a brand NEW album to give her fans something fresh along with the re-records. And recently she’s started collaborating with other artists on their albums and she extended her tour internationally and the schedule is insane even for her.
So idk, maybe try finding some compassion, or if you can’t do that then at least try not to be a such an insufferable dick about it.
