I absolutely fell in love with Turin on a 2022 visit. I went back in 2023 for 2 weeks and walked the whole city. The romantic and cultured feel of the city is not to be missed. I keep an eye on the air quality from time to time. Alba is another gem.
Turin is on my Top 5 retirement destinations, but glad to see Asti made the list. Asti is a beautiful town steeped in history, architecture, and amazing food and wine. Thanks, Giorgio! Also, I've seen the majority of your videos and would be disappointed if you didn't have Turin in the number one spot.
Used to go to this region most weekends when working nearby and it's a real gem of coastline and spectacular mountains, a pal of mine has a couple of houses in aquadolce, gorgeous
Being the region of Piemonte you obviously have a winter so if your seraching for winter sun this is not the region of Italy for you. Turin has had a problem with air quality but is improving.
Is there a quiet section of Turin with mostly historic residential villas where you can have the feel of a smaller town while also being in a walkable distance to the major attractions?
I'm from Asti and I know Turin very, very well. Beside Crocetta I would recommend all the neighbourhoods east of the Po River commonly known as Precollina and Collina. This is where you find Turin's hills. Namely, the area called Crimea and the streets around piazza Hermada are slow-paced places lined up with historic buildings and villas shroud in a town-feel atmosphere. They're both within 15-20 minute-walk from the very central Piazza Vittorio Veneto.
Thank you for your feedback. Good point on the centralized heating. I must do a more detailed video on what to look out for when buying property in Italy such as centralized heating system v independent heating system (The latter is usually better) and what floor you should buy on (most Italians do not like buying ground floor apartments)
That whole region (Piedmont) has the absolute worst air pollution in Italy, and among the worst air quality in all of Europe. Turin and the other cities you mentioned, have that issue as a big negative.
None of the five places mentioned are in the top 20 when it comes to air polution in Italy. www.statista.com/statistics/1284568/average-pm25-in-regional-cities-in-italy/

Carol could not agree more. Turin is one of the most underrated cities in Europe,

Many thanks Mike. Turin was my number one place to buy property in Italy for the year 2023.

Piemonte such an underrated region!!!
Piemonte has no coastline, but you mean Liguria which is close to it. ☺
What do think about San Giorgio Monferrato, Province of Alessandria, Italy? Thank you
Personally I think most people would consider a little too small of a place to live however property prices are incredibly cheap.
How is the weather in July in Biella or Vercelli?
It will be hot.
How is weather and air quality in those places? thanks

I looked at Asti but found it is too expensive for me. I will look at the other places you mentioned. :). Thanks Giorgio
Eric do you mean everyday costs.
@@saveandinvestwithgiorgiolo8375 I mean for the kind of house I want to buy.
@@EricOnRUclips Thanks for clarifying

I think the Crocetta district could work.
Thank you, I will check it out!@@saveandinvestwithgiorgiolo8375
My pleasure

Most units in this area have centralized heating so be aware.
AC is not a given so once again look for a unit with at least 5 standard sized windows.

Have you considered Trentino?
Yes. Unfortunately prices are not cheap.
5. Ivrea
4. Biella
3. Asti
2. Vercelli
1. Turin
Thank you for your feedback.
What's the effect on the local population? will house prices be driven up so they can't buy a house? for so called"ex pats". IMU x 10.. at least!!!

In summer it’s terrible in the city.
Turin is too cold
Not for somebody who likes warm winters but a beuatiful city with very low prices.
No 7%.
Not in these cities.
Turin is absolutely terrible for so many reasons right now.
Why?
