A corkage fee is not always done at every restaurant though. In some states, if you have a mixed beverage permit where you sell liqour and wine, it is not allowed for the customer to bring in their own alcoholic beverages. Also some places just simply don't allow customers to bring their own alcohol in on account of them selling it themselves. They are losing profits on what you could be drinking from their stock.

The corkage fee does not cover the gratuity for the wine service!!!!

The corking fee has nothing to do with enjoying the wine in a restaurant, the glassware, the staff. It's for profit and a scam. Water is free, there is no faucet fee for water. Stop the lies. Stop corking fees. Hidden costs to the customer.
