Only a few songs/recordings do that for me (the "shivers down my spine" thing). I can basically think of a couple of others -- those two being my two favorite-most songs of all times. This is a notable addition to that *very* select list (I *will* say that one of them is the old song "Gilbert Street", recorded by the brief shining light in the darkness that was Sweet Thursday -- and the first time I heard THAT was in 1973). Even the original Dylan recording doesn't do it. Kudus to the guys who do the music for _Emergence_ -- they hit one out of the ballpark in Episode 10 by having this version of the classic song as the background (foreground?) music.
I always loved this tune by Dylan and many others but the way WILDE does this song is extremely provocative and has great feeling artistically. What a great re-do!
It always amazes me when someone can take a song, slow it down and make it ever more beautiful like the Cowboy Junkies did with "Sweet Jane" and now this :)
Verse 1] Well it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe If'n you don't know by now And it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe It'll never do somehow When your rooster crows at the break of dawn Look out your window and I’ll be gone You’re the reason I’m a-traveling on But don’t think twice, it’s all right [Verse 2] And it ain't no use in turning on your light, babe The light I never knowed And it ain't no use in turning on your light, babe I’m on the dark side of the road But I wish there was something you would do or say To try and make me change my mind and stay But we never did too much talking anyway But don’t think twice, it’s all right [Verse 3] So it ain't no use in calling out my name, gal Like you never done before And it ain't no use in calling out my name, gal I can’t hear you anymore I’m a-thinking and a-wondering, walking down the road I once loved a woman, a child I’m told I gave her my heart but she wanted my soul But don’t think twice, it’s all right [Verse 4] So long, honey babe Where I’m bound, I can’t tell Goodbye's too good a word, babe So I’ll just say fare thee well I ain't a-saying you treated me unkind You could've done better, but I don’t mind You just kinda wasted my precious time But don’t think twice, it’s all right
Girl, we’ve missed you! It’s been a while since you’ve uploaded... Thank you for this cover, I like it better than the original. Your voice is so beautiful, keep up the talent
0:10 just kills me. It’s the moment the “4 weeks later” text comes on screen in emergence ep. 10 and it is just heart breaking. I bet almost no one knows what I’m talking about but for those who might, isn’t it so sad!
Yup. Not ashamed to say it (I've spent the better part of an hour trying to track this version down and find out who the artist is. When I SHOULD be sleeping [insert "head banging" .gif here]. I've been a Bob Dylan fan for over 4 decades -- but sometimes the cover versions are better than his original recordings. And this is DEFINITELY right up there with the Jimi Hendrix version of "All Along the Watchtower". (Yeah, in spite of being a completely different type of music from Hendrix -- because good is good, no matter the genre....)
I think modern artists know they shouldn't cover classics sounding anything like the original, especially classics that have been covered hundreds of times in the first few years after they were written. This is pretty good, considering the limitation I mentioned above. From the description, you already know the writer was Bob Dylan. What you might not know is that the best rendition (maybe the best five renditions) were by Joan Baez, usually in duet with other artists. The biggest hit with the song was by Peter, Paul & Mary; But for my money, Baez did it best... multiple times. watch?v=1pS6_VvIiuk I can't find the Baez / Dar Williams version on youtube. It's my definitive version. Indigo Girls with Baez might be a close second.
I agree, Joan's versions are some of my favourites. I saw her live in London last year at the Palladium and that's what prompted me to record this cover. She's one of my favourite female vocalists, ever
Only a very small percentage of people have had the privilege of hearing this beautiful cover. We are the lucky ones.
How does this have only 38k views? It's one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.
Emergence brought me here! First time hearing this song and it sent shivers down my spine. Beautiful cover!
Soo true !!!
Same!

Ammen to that, sister!
Yep me too. Love this better than Bob Dylan's.
Yes, I'm definitely here because of "Emergence"! I've never heard of this artist before, but I'm so grateful that I have now!
Me too caught my attention and 🤗
Ditto!!!
And me also ♥️
I miss that show so much.

Bob Dylan will never be beaten until this version but both will never be beaten
Na voz dela ficou linda demais
Found this song courtesy of the tv show Emergence. Great cover. You have a beautiful voice.
Heard this remake of Bob Dylan's old song on Emergence and loved it. What a beautiful version to a beautiful song. Hats off to the Wildes.
Verse 1]
Well it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
If'n you don't know by now
And it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It'll never do somehow
When your rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I’ll be gone
You’re the reason I’m a-traveling on
But don’t think twice, it’s all right
[Verse 2]
And it ain't no use in turning on your light, babe
The light I never knowed
And it ain't no use in turning on your light, babe
I’m on the dark side of the road
But I wish there was something you would do or say
To try and make me change my mind and stay
But we never did too much talking anyway
But don’t think twice, it’s all right
[Verse 3]
So it ain't no use in calling out my name, gal
Like you never done before
And it ain't no use in calling out my name, gal
I can’t hear you anymore
I’m a-thinking and a-wondering, walking down the road
I once loved a woman, a child I’m told
I gave her my heart but she wanted my soul
But don’t think twice, it’s all right
[Verse 4]
So long, honey babe
Where I’m bound, I can’t tell
Goodbye's too good a word, babe
So I’ll just say fare thee well
I ain't a-saying you treated me unkind
You could've done better, but I don’t mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don’t think twice, it’s all right
Hands down the best version I've heard. Absolutely stunning with just vocals and piano.
Yeah - me too! TV tracks often a source of great music.
Just heard this on radio 1, amazing track.
Same! Great cover.
Kudos to whoever does the music for Emergence. Perfect song/scene pairings
Girl, we’ve missed you! It’s been a while since you’ve uploaded...

Thank you Emergence. This is truly beautiful, and such a different imagining of the classic song.
There's something haunting about her voice

So underrated...for good ears only
