Also something to note around Mighty Car Mods: we are normal guys and are not trained mechanics. We like to make interesting car mods and show you how we've gone about it, but we can't promise that anything we show you will work for your particular car, or that you won't harm yourself, someone else, your car or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible and unless you know what you're doing, do not fool around with very serious machinery just because you've seen us make it look so easy. Talk to a qualified mechanic if you are in any doubt.

I learnt to drive a car with one of those, not a gtir but a pulsar or sunny (as it was branded in europe). Dream car.
Bring back the rugdocter
Do you have considered doing an australian special? A burn out cruiser with a big old blower?
Where's Sheryl?
@@strubergsm I had my driver's training in one of those things in 1987 in Australia.
Tuning fork looks like he's been doing some body tuning, well done bro 👍
Was thinking the same! dude's lost some weight. right on!
Looking buff Scotty! Very impressive.
@@osvaldosanchez5265 All for make that power to weight ratio up!
Atah boy fork , got lasik?
@Lester Piglet he got laser eye surgery actually
When I was a teenager in the 00's these were everywhere in NZ, these days you hardly ever see one. I miss the 90's Japanese cars, it's crazy how much they've shot up in value too.
I remember them in the 90s and 2000's. By about 2005 they started to fade out. By 2012 I noticed Mitsubishi Evos were on the decline on the streets, those rockets were super popular!
Everyone in high school had a KP60 or VL Commodore (both with locked diffs, and $500 cars) that was early to mid 2000's for me.
@Crooked Skate Supply Co What was better at 15-16 than blazing up and hotboxing in your shitbox while driving round on a Friday night.
You guys also got the 1.8L Pulsar GTi!
@@psychosquirrel555 I feel very fortunate living in a country where our cars are RHD so we can get genuine JDM imports.
It's funny to see Americans obsess over Skylines and other vehicles that we can get so easily and cheaply.
Hope your friends and family are okay over there guys stay safe!
Australia is a big country and 90% dont see the fires....
AMLagonda mcm are in NSW where the majority of the fires are
Sadly most people don't realize that australian bush needs fire to clear the dead undergrowth to regrow bigger and better than before and look at what happens if humans don't do it themselves in a controlled manner. Of cause a lot of Australians know how Severe the fires are they are not something new....
@some random guy We Australians fully understand the severity of the bushfires. We experience them every year but not to this magnatude. Making a generalised comment like that is very ill-informed. Where the guys are in Sydney metro area is a very long way from the actual fires. They couldn't be in a safer place.
@@Shaunomangaming Where the guys are in Sydney metro area is a very long way from the actual fires. They couldn't be in a safer place.
“It feels good to drive and makes you smile.” Enough said.
Found my new year's resolution, MCM nuggets instead of Mcnuggets
Just wait for your mates
2 for 5$ at Mickey D's ... that's 20 nuggets for 5 bocks 'Murican.
Ya mcm is a way better option than mcjugger nuggets
McMuggets.
Bruh this is the best comment I’ve seen all decade
I'd love to see you catch and release a Celica GT4
Hell yes! Watching Carlos Sainz back in the day, I wanted a GT4 so much.
Seen Project Binky?
@Jorn Navarre spotted one or two locally and in melbourne. They're not as common as what they were though.
@Jorn Navarre thats because the boys at bad obsession motorsport bought them out to turn it into toyota mini gt4
I had one 8 years ago. Great fun but getting parts was pricey and it needed a lot of them to get through tuv. Lots of old car problems. Worth every cent.
"Everyone at home can figure this out" Man, I have literally 0 idea what is going on, but the music is good, and the video interesting, so I am just keeping my head above water.
He just means you can Google the conversions if you're that interested. Glad you're enjoying it!
550cc injectors on 16 psi with a 4 cylinder will be maxed out with 200ish kw.
So that’s why with the 950cc injectors and 16psi they’re at 55% duty cycle or whatever they said it was for 213kw
Valkatron they used to be so simple if you watch them know realise how mych they have grown. I feel you keep enjoying
A S5 Rx7 is a two door Japanese sports car..... Just sayin.
I'm still Lost 😐
This things an absolute beast.
Lol I've been subbed to you for years..... Thought I recognized the name. Good to see you're an MCM fan
AHHH older Moog music makes any MCM videos so deliciously nostalgic!
Amnesia is timeless.
@@SundownMarkTwo Definitely. Any time I hear Smoke And Fire I get the feels as well. Sew It Seams may still be my fav Moog track though. :)
@@802Garage You both, are men of culture!
I came here looking for this comment ❤️
Remember jimmy rabbit??? Sooo good
I love how when you started making vids you were just enthusiasts and now youre decent mechanics with loads of knowledge.
I've only discovered MCM a week or so back, been watching lots of the vids every day since! You guys are great, love the stuff you. Mad respect to you.
I envy you. Theres lots of episodes i wish i could watch for the first time again.
They have some really good mini movies also.
welcome, there's over 400 to get through!
And when you finish, they're still great the second time around...unlike most other things in life...
binge watch the SuperGramps series. You won't be disappointed.
also check out Benny's Double Unicorn.
And Moogs view of the love of whatever you drive is breathtaking...he says it doesn't matter what you drive but more that you love working on it and with your mates...such an awesome dude...
When I was 17 this was my achievable goal car. I ended up getting a skyline gtt R34 instead but always regretted not at least picking one of these up for a while in their hay day.
So I loved seeing you guys restore it. I wanted a white one though as every man and his dog had a black one. They were very popular up here in Brissy. And an affordable import at the time. Few of my friends had them.
Great little cars not the best handling but quick for sure. Once the WRX hit the scene though they started to be relocated to garage queens.
"it makes you smile"
and that's all you need
Sounds an awful lot like heroin ...
Earnest Bunbury carcaine is a hell of a drug
I envy my friend with his 330hp VW Polo WRC, but that goes away when I drive my 100hp mx5 lol
MORLOCK where you high when you wrote that?
My favorite car ever!
Thanks Gran Turismo 2
Hello frm Russia! I am have this model.
Love this era of JDM cars. Here in Europe they were called a Nissan Sunny GTIR
Nigel Davey the official one we’re but there’s not many of them most were pulsar imports
This was my first sport car. I still miss it very much. Sometimes it's not about power but how it makes you feel. And it was rare in canada which was a bonus.
I love how Marty is standing on blocks when he’s next to tuning fork 😂
I love 90's nuggets and I'm glad you guys do too! You do a great job explaining and summarizing what makes these cars and the time period so special.
I love how Marty has to stand on a wheel chock to be at eye level with Scotty the giant. 3:23
During that scene I was thinking 'Huh, Marty is taller than I remember', then I noticed his little step.
He isn't exactly short either .
So jealous we don't get these in the states, but it was fun to watch the project!
Hope everything gets better in Australia. Regards from Egypt.
Sammy if your talking about fires, they are not near Sydney it’s only in Victoria (Sydney is in New South Wales) but right now there was 4 medium sized fires that joined up to become this mega blaze up in the Gippsland near Oven (yes that’s a name)
Scott's knowledge, passion and overall chillness is just awesome. The world needs more Tuning Forks......
had one exactly like it - cheers for the trip down memory lane
Wow wut was it like mate?
Me too, miss that car.
@@NZsarge1 were you part of the GGON(?) club? Was a great car for the day
Kiwi2209 Mate, it was so long ago but I was a member of a club aimed at the GTiR but I can’t remember the name of the club. I remember I bought a part exhaust (cat back from memory) from one of the members of the club and it turned to be a nice purchase. The only other mod I did was Koni shocks, I think it was the front shocks were adapted from a SSS Pulsar as Koni didn’t make a part for it.
These were the cars we dreamt about in high school. Like how the last generation wanted Camaro or Monaro.
0:51 Wait, that's tuning fork Scotty?! He looks different without the glasses on.
and the beard!
he looks like hes been working out
He just got corrective eye surgery I believe!
He's aging like a fine wine!
He has dropped a shit tonne of weight. Glad I wasn't the only one that noticed.
Love from nz!!!I'm smiling and smiling....I had n/a an loved it to bits...so right with the time of these cars! What an awesome moment in my life and jdm history!!!
My boys and I watch you guys religiously here in the states, glad you guys put out a new video. Though we do not know the severity of the Australian fire situation we could only see what the media shows us. So because of that we hope you guys are safe. Looking forward to the next video
You know it's gonna be a good vid when Tuning Fork is in it!
Awesome stuff Guy's.....keep up the great work.
Stay safe, and hope the fires cease soon.
Thanks for sharing.
I honestly teared up on this video.
This is what friendship & the ideas of building cars is all about. Making power & working together! Knowledge=POWER!
Within a couple minutes and there's already loads of likes and comments! Love the content!
I've never seen one of these without 6x9 cut outs in the parcel tray, and a sub box in the boot.
At this stage, that'd be 'period correct mods', along with 18" chromes.
I own one... Trust me there's a reason for those 6x9 cut outs.. Any Pulsar that gets an exhaust mod.... You kind of wanna blend down that exhaust tone with a little music, standard speakers on a rally car from the 90's ?
Lol
Man I love this thing!!
The 1st car on the show I'm actually jealous about...
i was so heartless i am ashamed*** man what a tune... i actually fell in love with moogs music before i ever watched a mighty car mod.... and now you bring the legend of a car on the show....nice.....and love the catch and release system... save them nuggetts
My favorite type of build. Boxy hatchbacks are the best! Thanks guys!
Gimme a hot hatch before any supercar. I wanna have fun just outside the law, not belligerently out of sight of the law.
I had a 1990 Pulsar in the US. It looked nothing at all like this 1990 Pulsar in this video. The interior was similar. Mine had like 110hp...about 2/5 of the hp of the Pulsar in the vid. Mine had the 1.6 Sentra engine in it. Mine wasn't fast, per se, but it was sprightly enough on the road to be fun and none of it was sloppy. With 300hp, this Pulsar is a fkn beast!
Replace the soft brake lines, sometimes they break down inside and hold a bit of pressure.
They have become so expensive that I'm going to buy a d21 hardbody. They are basically a poor mans 240 lol
Thank you for leaving in the tuning numbers! It makes so much more sense to me and now I have a much better idea of the state of the car
What an amazing RUclips evening finisher!!
Finisher?!? It's the shank of the evening ...
I never heard of you guys until the Hoonigans visited your garage. I subscribed after that episode and I'm really enjoying your videos.
I would most definitely rock this beautiful car in the states.
In the USA...we dont get jdm dream nuggets to catch and release. Always stoked to see these rad little gems.
best car I ever had, miss it so much
Suppper lucky to have owned one I have the Nissan 200sx ser . Put the low port on the red top bottom end and stuffed the turbo cams in it. Still a project in the making will deffinetly be fun want to get the gtir rear diff and trans suppose to be a pretty straight forward swap. Will see in the future.
Lee Treherne at least you got to own one... I tried to look for one but they are so old and worn out I think that ship has sailed for me 😥
I'm with you. Such great memories of hooning around Canberra and surrounds. People used to dismiss them as nose heavy (and OK they were), but with the right suspension (spring rates in particular) you could minimise the effects and have A LOT of fun. Nugget is perfect description. Cars these days are so big and over-insulated.
There is a European edition pulsar in my neighborhood and it is *EXTREMELY* modified. The intercooler and turbos are *MASSIVE!*
Catch and release, what a good analogy for what we love 2 do, i never went to fishing but seeing fixing and loving cars from that perspective im.a fishercarman!
Ahh.. The Nissan Sunny GTiR (as it's called in Europe).
What a mad little car. High performance and 4WD packed into a compact shell, like a Japanese answer to the Golf Rallye, Golf G60 Syncro, and other European hot hatchbacks from the same era.
I believe Mazda also made a high performance version of the 323 hatchback called the GTR. These small cars are the absolute definition of "fun on four wheels"
Good to see you restored this one, as these cars are totally worth it :)
I love pulsar GTiR's! My (realistic) dream car!
The early 80's turbo Pulsars we got here in 'Murica were beaten by cars that didn't know you were racing them.
Haltech are really killing it so much in terms of plug and play looms/ecu’s with ready to go basic maps. Like they’re obviously really enthusiast about they’re products and it shows in the results.
I preferred the wheels it had on it initially, but those new ones have really grown on me!
Awesome car. I wish we got these in the states.
We didn't. Any in Aus are japanese imports.
@@mjrocketsurgeon I see. I guess we can import cars here too. As long as they are 25yrs or older. But I'm used to driving on the left side of the car. So that would be rough. Lol.
It's weird getting used to shifting with your left hand, but driving on the right makes right hand curves really fun!
@Crooked Skate Supply Co First comment everyone makes about these cars. It's simple, don't dump the the clutch at the lights and it's all good. The WRXs pretty much do the same if treated this way.
These guys show the world that you don't need to have a 800hp supra to be satisfied with a build. One of my favorite channels
@ 4:00
Moog: “what you up to marty”
Marty: “just getting the pulsie tuned ndat”
A mix of JDM left field 90's nuggets contenders, could be a Starion turbo, Cordia turbo .Laser TX3/323 turbo, and for Marty a Subaru SVX or an Aussie Holden Piazza turbo, cars you rarely see today on the road. Im sure the next chapter will be epic as usual.
At 43 good to see some old 90s jdm revived .when I was in my prime.😉
Normally I'm not a big fan of mcm but I really enjoyed this series. More please.
Love when I’m early for content like this
Mighty Car Mods you guys the best m8🔥
The neighborhood that the two of you drove through was absolutely beautiful.
Watchin the zip ties wave from the engine bay 😂😂😂
Brings back memories. These were really popular in the UK sort of late 90s era, bang on same numbers as well- 1 bar of boost for about 280bhp and they'd run late 12s in the quarter all day long. For such a mildly tuned car they would destroy all sorts of stuff running a good chunk more power.
Annnnd now I'll never be able to find one for a cheap price lol
That's okay, I'll figure out how to get one and make it mad anyways
they were already 15-20k when you could find one lol
Import one yourself
Awesome car. When I was a teenager, me & my mate went and got some maccas in her pulsar and parked up at some industrial area to eat, no1 around, then out of nowhere this black GTiR cruises over to a small grass patch in front of us and starts doing helis and turning the grass into absolute mud. It stops and two old guys get out, one with a big belly, swap seats and the other guy has a hoon. It was hilarious, they didn't know we were watching. From memory I thnk they had helmets on lol
Love these things, great episode, sad to hear that we won't be seeing it again though.
Everytime I see a Gtir I kick myself for not buying the one I test drove about 10 years ago,was at McGrath Mitsubishi in Liverpool.. it needed a tidy up but went really well. Only wanted 5k for it 🤦♂️
Anyway that afternoon I bought a 2dr mk1 cortina that I still own today that I very much love. But a Gtir would of been cool
Ad Aussie Dude may see it again, just got a few things to do first
@@mightycarmods sweet 👍
Should of gone tokyo imports
I rmbr when these were popular in the early-mid 2K in Nz....just as popular as the Mazda BF Familia GTX both these things were fairly fast for their time
love you guys for saving this great car 😆 one of my favorates 👌
Brakes are dragging... *mins later* Marty plays with ECU pins and gets it sorted whilst still on the dyno... mate legendary that’s all I’ll say 😱 I wish you could give me a hand on some work I got. Makes it look so easy Omdayz
20 mins of fiddling with brakes in the dark under a dyno not that interesting, we fixed it, car works great
Mighty Car Mods no way man, I’ve seen that situation many times, and I’ve had to cancel the plans, only to arrange a recovery truck.. since then, started somewhat of a scrapyard LOL. I’m gonna make videos soon of the work I’ve got. You’re both legends. But jheeeze Professor Marty, hats off mate
My dream car❤️been refreshing my page like maddd!!! Patiently waiting for content on this maddd lil nugget😍
I love how it's all about the love and community in your videos.
Geez seems like a great power figure on the stock turbo! That top mount intercooler was pretty prone to heat soak a good quality front mount might be a good upgrade.
The real question is, do you have the umbrella?
They probably dont even know about the umbrella lol i think they wouldve mentioned that ...it is pretty easy to miss not expecting it to be in a car from that era lol. Maybe if the door was sagging a little and they had to check it out, or the previous owner took it out.
I hope you, your familys and your cars safe from those fires
almost 300hp in *that thing* ? jeeesus
That's why you read the comments after you've watched the video... Thanks brain for forgetting that...
That thing? You obviously haven't a clue about cars mate😂
SR20DET can make up to 400hp on stock internals
Power + AWD + Weight of Somali Prostitute = Awesome.
Well, best version of SR20DET in that thing.

I hope the new owner has many years of happiness driving and owning this piece of motoring history. You have done an amazing job of life saving, well done
I've never ever been this early. 6 seconds after posting 😍
I 100% get it. Referring to one of the last sentences said. I bought an old Jeep ZJ for $200 and it moved under it's own power - only thing going for it.
I spent many hours and less than $1000 fixing, painting, and rebuilding things on a super tight budget to get it running and driving. I've put 3000+ miles offload and over landing alone in the past few years for pennies compared to others buying brand new rigs and doing the same things I do.... granted mine is less reliable lol
Just get out there and have fun!
Next week on Mighty Car Mods “We Build a Sequential Evo 9”
Be to expensive just toget then get rid n off 👍 gearbox/clutch cost to much and they wouldn't earn any 💵 so wouldn't do it 👍

Love GTiRs 🙌🏻
I still have my first car that I got in 1998, a '92 Nissan Sentra SE-R. Mechanically kind of like a N14 Pulsar SSS in Australia. A lot of fun things have come and gone from my driveway, but I will never get rid of my early '90s Nissan. Numbers are irrelevant. It was a car from a golden era.

Excellent choice on the Enkei92's.
13:30 the pulsar was an amazing machine, but I'd take a DC2 type R over this anyday..
The awesome R . These things can make insane power delivery road and track fun and can be pretty low cost and also great daily driver .
Fact so many parts shared just makes easier keep them going .
Built pretty good back in the 90's too, shells, paint, trim and mechanical's that survived 30 years of cruising and boosting .
54C is one of better sr20det efforts and cars styling pretty unique even today let alone 30 years ago .
very underestimated car but always a rewarding sight see one doing its thing .

LIFE ON THE THROTTLE I love MCM
I always wanted to swap the drivetrain from one of them, into a 91-94 Nissan Sentra e, like the one in my picture. 4door 1.6L 16v twin cam 5 speed. Base of base models, radio delete, no sway bars, manual windows, locks and steering, no ac, no cruise. It only had one belt, the alternator and water pump. All the power went to the ground.
anyone remember that mcm forum thread "love for marty"?
Really cool to see this one back on the road! Hopefully we can get ours to the drags soon!
NEXT ON MCM: THE SUZUKI CAPPUCCINO!!!
EDIT: since this is getting some traction can we spread some awareness about the aussie wildfires...shits fucked up.
Funny cause im currently watching the initial d ep where the ae86 vs one of those 😂
Crazy little car I sadly have only seen 2 in the last couple years one being a track spec and the other being completely rusted out selling for 7k
In my youth I deeply lusted after the cousin of this hatch - The Mazda GTR. God i miss this era of turbo 4wd nuggets.
We had our own version of the Mazda 323 GTR.Here in Australia it was badged as a tx3 ford laser AWD turbo.they were pretty common but are getting a bit rare nowadays

When is Mr Regular getting a turn on some of the MCM fleet? I’m dying to see him do a review of mod max!
here in nz when the GTiR was around daily on the car seen, they were called mini godzillas, because they were, strong, very fast and its great to see that they still are, great videos and i hope you turn more out like this and even maybe make it a series on your channel, the MR2 was another nugget from that era that would be cool to look at
