I had tons of issues with my bnr34 as well with break up. I also changed MAFs, plugs, coilpacks. MAFs had loose connections so that helped, but the main issue was the intake manifold paper gaskets had failed. $100 tomei gasket set later and tons of sweat, cuts, and swear words, it cured it all. good luck!
My mates R32 GTR had the same issue many years ago. There would be many perished and weathered parts that would ideally need to be replaced when buying any GTR due to age alone.

lol same issues I had when I got my R32. With simple maintenance and a few new gaskets, it was fixed. Took a while to get my gaskets. They were shipped from Japan to the USA so was my R32. I'm glad you're R34 is running the way she should. Enjoy her.
had same issue on my friends bnr34. replaces all couplings/ places where it could leak with silicon pipe/hose and new intake gaskets. highly recommend replacing all in one go with new clamps too. night and day difference.

With your gtr having new plugs and having the spark break down, it could be down to having the incorrect plug gap. I’ve have that problem recently, found that my boost pressure was blowing out the spark and I was having flat spots in the rev range. Just an idea you could try.
Do not sell that car. Keep going. Single turbo it. Mine was running Garbo and I did single turbo and Jesus. It rips. A lot of money to fix one problem. But worth it in the end to be able to rip the full 7k 💪🏽
Should do compression and leak down tests on both cars. Also, should consider taking them to GtR specialist. You're talking about a very finicky, 30 year old, high performance machine and someone who knows exactly what they are doing and looking for would be better than some enthusiasts with good intentions. The solder points like to break away inside the mafs. You can open em up and resolder if that's the problem. Did the same on my 32 gtr.
