Most critics agree that John Wick: Chapter 4 reaches a new high with its action sequences and set pieces. Wick becomes a globe trotter in this chapter, transporting the audience to a variety of locations and non-stop action. Some critics are disappointed by the lack of a coherent plot, a possible consequence of the previous John Wick scribe, Derek Kolstad, not being involved with the production. There are also concerns at the runtime of 169 minutes, but it seems it flies by as John takes down his enemies without so much as stopping to rest.
It can also be expected that Keanu Reeves gives an all-out performance as John Wick. As he stealthily takes down those that have wronged him, collecting bodies at an insane rate, he can't help but be liked due to the magnetism of Reeves on screen. Even after playing the role for so long, Reeves still have a clear investment in the franchise that comes off in his performance. John Wick: Chapter 4 will also be setting up future installments and spinoffs for the franchise. Two spin-offs are currently in the works. The Continental, a prequel series, will follow a young Winston in the 1970s as he starts his career as a hotelier for the High Table. Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas, will be a female-led addition to the franchise that follows an orphaned ballerina assassin who seeks revenge on those who killed her parents. Early reviews for John Wick: Chapter 4 up the anticipation for the next installment of the beloved franchise, with an overall positive response.

Charon will be missed very badly. He was easily one of the most well written characters from the franchise and it's really sad to see him go. RIP Lance Reddick, you died happy because your last film will be one of the best action movies to exist.

@@TheOrangeRoad That's the thing. His character didn't need to be overly focused on or major background. His behavior, mannerisms, and presence were subtle, yet perfect for the role. His character was a professional and Lance Reddick played him perfectly.

It's not that. Charon is written to be someone that is stoic. Firm. Strict in accordance to the rules. He never breaks them. However, he has respect for other people, like John Wick. Maybe out of fear, but still respect.
In 1 example, John Wick asked if they have a Courier for the dog. Charon sadly informs him that, sadly there are no Courier service that is currently available in that facility. When John Wick was about to leave, Charon, out of character; immediately calls back to John and offers his own help and care for the dog. He is currently working, knows that there's no facility he can use, knows that doing so is not a rulebreaker, knows that John cares for the dog, offers himself. Someone that was shown to us to be the mentioned characteristics, has a soft spot for either the dog, or the person. It was both. His appearances speaks volumes of himself. There is no need for "character building" as you probably expect to have "depth" but that depth was shown to us. It was a "characteristic reveal" more than anything. Showing us that he's not just a guy that works there. He is a friend. Someone who cares, despite their stoic and firm appearances. That's what makes his character, memorable. He's more than just a simple worker there.
Maybe you would disagree. However, it'd be foolish in my opinion to disregard the things that was shown to us, simply because we turn our brains off when seeking entertainment.
Incredible. 58 years old and still performing better than ever in a non-stop action environment. Keanu Reeves has really found his way after years of perdition.
We are going to miss a guy who played the Hotel Manager's right hand man. He will be missed!
