I hope the developer will add more informative tooltips and maybe more textual information and improve the UI in a future patch to make it easier for players to understand. This is one of the areas of the game that needed quite an improvement and seemed rushed.
This is like Returnal and space invaders had a baby in a negative way Nothing fun about that, the only thing that were slow in this game were the controls and classical OST, YUCK
I recommend unlocking missiles and upgrade them to 10 missiles and full 360 damage. Then it's a balance between weaponry and defense. When you see drops of energy, move some to the weaponry and shoot missiles, grab the energy and keep on this way to quickly clear enemies. The ray is also strong and can wipe enemies with a swipe not just shooting straight. But missiles are really powerful and alternating before picking up energy so you can both shoot and get shield right after is a very strong tactic.
Come on, I still don't understand any of this. Konami once again went above and beyond, instead of making a normal shooter, with a regular skill tree, etc., they shitted this shit and they don't know why. Have they ever seen Einchander like this on PSX? It was a hit, and a huge one at that, even though it hurts my eyes on the screen. It couldn't have been better to reduce the chaos, make beautiful music, add cool bosses, etc. It's a shame, the game will end up as an average game that few people will play. That's it.
Excellent video! The UI is great but as you said it is (VERY) poorly explained. I played a bit yesterday with controller and i had no idea how half of it worked.
Thanks, happy to help. They need a good patch to iron out some issues including this one . I do hope that this will be addressed in a future patch, hopefully the first one.
@@SpookyFairy Yeah. Also, it isn't clear that some upgrades and features are simply locked until certain stages. About to start stage 6 in solo non arcade mode now, and i still can't use the designer or adjust the homing or angles. At this point i can only switch between my bought presets but not alter them. The designer top right shows locks but has no indication of how to/when it is unlocked. Clearing stage 5 unlocked raylight and shield blast. I have very little time to play at the moment, so it is slow going. In short, there is a lot of the very visually pleasing UI that simply isn't usable for a long time. Honestly, they should probably tone down the color on those parts so that it is perfectly clear that they aren't available until unlocked (or completely remove them until usable which could be pretty cool, having the upgrade UI grow as you progress).
@@SpookyFairy Maybe they just compare the game to like other shmups, so it's a question of perspective. I cleared it on easy on my first try with every stage (although almost died a bunch of times), and mostly found it very easy and I'm one of those people that's very low down on all highscore lists in shmups. But for sure still I think you should get the money even if you fail a stage, must be maddening to not make progress otherwise, and not because it's too hard, but because you want to unlock the darn upgrades.
Took me 3 tries on medium the first time I almost didn’t think it was possible. But getting in the zone with quick movements felt really damn good. I didn’t even realize there was difficulty selection until after I beat the level 😅
@@SpookyFairy Yeah I missed the location of the difficulty setting at first and died horribly to the very first large enemy about 10 times because the tutorial is a freaking joke and doesn't give you any actual understanding of how anything works, and I had no idea how to do simple things like recover from the constant chip damage, and when he'd stop doing his laser/machinegun spin (assuming the randomly scattered shots hadn't killed me already) I'd try to get below him so I could actually shoot him and just die for no obvious reason (apparently he has some weird damage field covering everything but his front, and if you don't circle him fast enough that he's looking down when that ends, he stays pointing sideways or whatever and you're screwed). Ended up having to look up a damn youtube tutorial on the game to figure out how the hell you're supposed to do anything other than die, including setting the difficulty to easy in order to get some practice in with the weird gun controls.
Yeah the upgrade screen took me an hour to figure out the gun patterns were referring to directions lol I accidentally wasted my first one on the straight shot (which I think you start out with lol)
It is used automatically upn purchase. You can see that if you assign a different pattern to the drones they will shoot differently then the main ones.
@@SpookyFairy Up pad works for autofire though which feels very handy. Sadly, when switching from air to ground and back to air, it sometimes forgets the autofire and you have to quickly tap it again.
Okay, but... How the heck do you get it to buy the damn gun drones that I clearly finally have enough points to buy but still am not allowed to click on? I've bought other things like more missiles and the anti-ground upgrade, which apparently is basically a requirement if you want shooting at ground targets to be anything but a complete waste of time, and I have well over the 250 that the drones cost, but it's still just greyed out as if I can't afford it!
First equip/buy it, second assign a key in the setting (e.g. right d-pad with the controller). Activate once you have shield, it will deal damage based on the number of shield slots uses and consume them all (so watch out, activate when you already see more energy drops to feel it up quickly or if you have more weaponry slots and you can switch more into shield).
All good. The UI is terrible totally rushed. I mean, how much it takes to create a simple UI for this or add some kind of explanation, maybe even wording instead of icons, a day. I also can't believe that this wasn't addressed before release or no QA caught that if there was one.
3:32 how do I unlock the "freestyle" pattern? I only have the presets. I am playing this on PS5. Holy smokes the pattern only available with firepower and shield distribution is insane at 9:30.... this explains. Geez this game needs more explaining. The tutorial covers nothing. Oh the missiles consumes Firepower 11:17... figures. I always wondered why my power was gone...
Based on my understanding: There are 6 weapon slots, each slot has as different damage modifier, at the highest it's 10%, and then 8%, 6%, 4% and 0%. So the more weapon slots used, the higher the damage.
*SKY FORCE 3 PLEASE* I did not know that the future Space invader game needed a user manual The best part with the Xbox platform compared to Playstation is their refund policy. And trust me you wanna invoke that soon enough. This game is nothing like Sky Force or any other type of bullet-hell arcade shooter Gorgeous graphics is not enough Better yourselves Konami, this was a real disappointment and 30$ down the drain game
This game made me actually dive back into shmups. And I also looked into the title you mentioned "Sky Force". I need to thank Konami for reviving this dorment love for good old arcade shmups. It's interesting hearing what others think about the game, thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the explanation. I am enjoying the game.. but i cant really do anything past easy lol

Wish more ppl were talking about Cygni tho it’s an awesome game
I agree. I think they should have done more marketing and build and market it along the hardcore fans and influencers of the genre.
The menu is also impossible to read on my Legion go
Excellent Video!
Thank you very much!
TOO HARD EVEN FOR MEDIUM AT THE START
It's a very challenging game. I remember telling that to the devs on Discord just that and they say it isn't... and I am like "what?!"

Where are the drones? I don't even see them after purchase.
I cant get shield blast to work. I assign it a button but nothing happens when i try to use it, idk if its a bug or what

Yeh, the in-game explanation is really bad, for certain things non-existent. I hope they will improve this in the next patch.
Just checked on Discord as I didn't remember: "the latter called the “Designer Mode” is only unlocked when one playthrough of the game is completed"
I don't understand about the damage modifiers
Based on my understanding: There are 6 weapon slots, each slot has as different damage modifier, at the highest it's 10%, and then 8%, 6%, 4% and 0%. So the more weapon slots used, the higher the damage.
TOOOOOOOOO HARD
It is hard
Thanks for the video. But something I think you missed is what the % icons mean at the bottom of the screen.
Percentage of homing applied to the projectiles. 100% all shots, 0% none (and inbetween)
