Also, once your woodchip gets old you can take up the old stuff and it makes great composting material.

You can also use cardboard under the woodchip instead of a ground sheet. I used woodchip to some paths at my allotment because i had a tree in my garden cut back and i had the guy dump all the woodchip at my allotment, so i don't know where i will get my next supply from.

Here in Sydney (Australia) arborists are always struggling to get rid of wood chip - can you ask the guy who did your tree if he can get you more? Otherwise just call arborists in your area - but - BEWARE - be clear about how much you need, trust me - my neighbor and I burst out laughing when we saw the absolute MOUNTAIN we were 'gifted' (used the lot anyway, over time). Try your local authorities/council too as they often have garden waste recycling programs. I'm lucky to live near a golf course and the arborists PAY the golf course to dump wood chip, so the more I take, the more room they have for the next dump. Hope this helps and hope you find some for free.........

Oh, I 100% agree with the cardboard too - I rake back the old woodchip, throw any remining bits of cardboard into the compost, lay down fresh cardboard, put back old and new woodchip - looks great. I think it's better for the soil underneath too.

Hello love, good morning I am always happy to see your new video posts. Your plot is looking so nice as you make one improvement after another. You have a nice layout and good flow to the pathways. I liked the video just a while back when you were able to get so many loads of the free wood chips for the paths. You are doing some amazing work here and it shows. God bless y'all bye for now

Hi Emma, plot looks lovely, you’re so lucky getting free wood chip, our plot is about same size as yours, but we had to buy it as no-one near us gives it away! Still as you say it is so much nicer to walk on and makes the plot look more attractive!

Are there tree removal companies in your area? They might have excess piles of woodchips they can't sell.

    Hi Emma
I'm no expert but I would think the woodchip would help towards keeping slugs away.
