In 1972 I heard on my dad's 69 Tbird Philco Dean singing, "Me n You n Dog Named Blue". But I've never found a copy of it. I know his son Deano had some slight rock fame 1960s.
My mother loved him and Frank Sinatra. I have fond memories of her sitting at our kitchen table, with her reel to reel and playing her music. She had a wide variety of taste, from Oh Yes We Have No Bananas, Dean, Johnny Cash, Frank, to the Mamas and the Papas
I remember reading that as a boy Dean Martin only spoke Italian. I remember his son dying, and speaking of movies, Dean is in one of my favorite movies: The Young Lions.
According to 'legend', when the Beatles landed in the USA for their Ed Sullivan Show debut, Deano's song Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime was #1 on the Billboard chart. Dean called Elvis and told him (paraphrased) 'Hey, buddy, I need a little help here'.
My mom dug him. We'd watch him n his Golddiggers every week. But in my memmory his show COULD NOT be shown today as it would be considered very sexist.
I grew up with Dean Martin and always love the Celebrity Roast. Especially since they usually had my favorite comedian Don Rickles on board. I love the episode where he was the roastmaster while they roasted Dean Martin. I think I peed my pants it was so hilarious. I got the whole series set on CD when it finally became available in the 1990s😊
