    It’s cool of you to make these vids man. I’m probably around your age, not super young, and started playing when I was a early teen in the the 80s. I was super into punk and had to lean much of this stuff on my own, just listing to albums and tapes over and over again. You might get lucky and meet a guy who was better and were able to learn some new riffs or licks. But man it was more challenging to get such specific and helpful info. It’s amazing how much free (and paid) content there is out there. People really kind of have it made now in that respect. It’s funny when people critique or complain about videos like this. I do some lesson type vids and most people are cool but occasionally you get the complainers. Anyway, you’re doing good stuff man. 👍🏼🎸

    I love your channel, i wish i had your lessons when i started playing. I hate to be the guy to ask for certain bands but would you consider doing lessons for bands like TSOL or D.I. ? In TSOL especially Ron does a lot of interesting stuff on guitar no one really talks about.

      Thanks! Yep. I'll try to do more TSOL. I did Abolish Government a while ago: ruclips.net/video/jQz8f1WrDWQ/видео.html

    Just discovered your channel and love your God Save the Queen tutorial. Can you do any 2nd wave UK 82 ones, like Peter and the Test tube babies etc…thanks!

    What pick ups are you using? I am thinking of switching out my Gibson SG Standard stock pick ups for something a bit more heavier. Thinking Super Distortion or S Duncan SH 6. What would you suggest? I am looking for a sound similar to EMG 81, but want to avoid active pickups.

      This guitar has the stock Gibson humbuckers on it. It is a 2009 Standard. However, if you are looking for a high output, non active pickup, I like the P-90's. You can get a Gibson P-94 which is the same shape as a hum bucker, but has the P-90 configuration. I have one on my other Les Paul. Seymour Duncans are also another good option.

    No offense , but how are you just giving this lesson now? Your videos are so good, and I make all my death grip punk students subscribe so that you can do the grunt work for me and keep them engaged. I don't mean to ride your ass, but it seems like this should have been your first video.
    Understand, I'm a creator too, and I look back at my first four or five vids and cringe. I don't know that I ever got it fully right. I'm just surprised. I think you do a great job.

    I love your stuff but you need a better microphone. It’s hard to hear you

    • @7171jay
      @7171jay Месяц назад +3

      You need to listen to both left and right sides, he has the guitar on the left and voice on the right.
      You must be listening to just the left which has just a tiny bit of voice on it.

      Thanks for letting me know. I do the vocals on one side and guitar on the other. I'll look into mixing it more mono. You are not the first person to bring this up.

    • @7171jay
      @7171jay Месяц назад +1

      @ScottGuitar It sounds fine as long as one is listening to both the left and the right sides.
      It is a bit odd to have them split the way you do.
      It is quite audible but a liitle roomy sounding which has nothing to do with your left / right thing but is due to your mic placement and your room which sounds quite reflective.

    • @ScottGuitar
      @ScottGuitar  Месяц назад

      @@7171jay yep. It has to do with my interface which only allows me to run two mics with one hard left and one hard right. I am getting a mixer so I can do something about the panning. The room is all hard surfaces so it is definitely super reflective, however close mic'ing the guitar solves that issue. My lapel mic leaves something to be desired though and picks up a lot of room sounds. I may need an upgrade there.

    Wait... punk rock LEAD guitar? Come on now, no real punk guitarist plays solos!

    • @raybbaby
      @raybbaby Месяц назад +2

      Lead is just lead, not necessarily "a solo".
