    Hi Claire, I cancelled my roccabox over a year ago...the product sizes became a lot smaller & the postage jumped up so it went from around £12 to around £18. I've tried a lot of the beauty boxes, but since most of the companies are now (at least partially) owned by The Hut Group they seem to be very similar content-wise. I've cancelled everything except Latest in Beauty, because I can choose my own 6 items, so hardly anything gets wasted & as I'm a long time member I only pay £13, although its a bit more expensive for newer members.
    Thanks for all your unboxing videos, Rachxx 😘😘 xx

    Claire, I hope you get better soon! I like any box you have on your channel. The best boxes aren't available in the US and if they are they are not as nice as the UK. Take care and Happy New Year! 💕💕

    I have so much stuff my daughter and I are going to be sorting it all out to sell.
    I used to get roccabox up until they put the prices up.
    They said there price was going up but there would be better brands and more full size's.but to me it went worse not better.
    But I think that a lot of them are not as good as years ago.
    I have latest in beauty so you can pick your six item's but that said the items where better than they are now.
    I Also have glossy box and I keep thinking that I should cancel that there January box was meh and the December box wasn't a wow box so I'm thinking of cancelling that as well,I keep saying I'll just see what the Christmas box is like them the January box then Valentine's and so on

    I have cancelled my subscription and this is my last box. I get Glossy and LF too I said I wouldn't get it on subscription but I signed up to 12 month on L F and think that's the only one I'll keep till it runs out. I get Asos, next and m& s beauty boxes too plus I have loads of products after 6 calendars and other beauty pressies for Xmas. I have loads, that plasma serum is anti aging, I was looking earlier today as I got in a box at Xmas and was wondering what it does, it says to rub in gently all over face missing eyes of course. So I now have 2 of them and 4 soap brows and all the same brand, my eyebrows won't be moving anytime soon. The Espa moisturiser I can't wear as it has too many essential oils in it, the hair mask I will always use as I love masks both for the face and hair. The Otto Eye serum I will try I got a hand cream from them in one of my boxes too. This brand is appearing more and more. Xx 😚 🤗 🥰

    I've had 2 of the Perricone serums from other sources, and both were out of date, so I'd be interested to know what the use by is on this one. I think Roccabox is far worse than it used to be before the price rise. They bump up the 'value' by using white label brands that have hugely inflated prices online - think Dr Botanicals, ESPA, Dr Eve_Ryouth, Avant etc. Even Perricone is just another Hut Group brand, as are Grow Gorgeous, Eyeko and Illamasqua. You're buying blind until they do their reveal, which means it's highly unlikely you can buy a box then cancel your subscription before the mid-month cut off. For that reason alone I'd like to keep seeing your videos. If I took a chance and paid £6.50 (plus p&p) this month, I'd have received a potentially dodgy and very small serum, brow soap I would never use, and a tiny pouch of conditioner, with the other 2 being nothing special, so I'm very glad to have had your helpful insight

    I was thinking of trying roccabox when my Glossybox sub expires in a few months, as looked like more luxury brands. So I’m interested to see more unboxings, but sounds like other commenters don’t rate it, so maybe I’ll reconsider…thanks for all your unboxings Claire, always a joy & I always learn something 😊

      Hi hun I’ll have to look back at my old videos to compare as I keep thinking they all used to be better a few years ago too?! Or is it due to us seeing the same familiar brands so not getting us as excited 🤔 I don’t know. Xx

      @@Diaryofabeautygeekno the sizes are smaller in alot of the subscription boxes but when you see how much you pay then see what you get, it's not that bad really. I complain sometimes about the sizes but the products have really gone up in price do smaller sizes are becoming the norm now. I do remember the full sizes so sometimes I think I'd rather get 3 or 4 products but bigger

      @Diaryofabeautygeek  10 месяцев назад +4

      Because I earn over the tax threshold anything I’m gifted for free, I have to add the value down as payment given so this bumps up my overall yearly earnings which is fake plus, I have to pay tax on it xx

      Utubers have to declare not only cash they receive but also gifts, the value of any gifts they receive from brands asking them to review are added to income earned. So when a utuber goes over a certain amount earned in a year, they are classed as self-employed which changes a lot for them. Hope I got that right. Utubers can also claim taxes back on items they buy / use for their work . Big earners or even small earners can claim back on say designer items ect once its used for their work. Also I suppose every country is different on what you can claim back from revenue.
      Same as claiming for work uniforms, work equipment work car ect. Also, medical expenses and dental expenses.
      Happy New Year, Claire.😊

    • @Diaryofabeautygeek
      @Diaryofabeautygeek  10 месяцев назад +4

      Because it’s classed as promoting for a brand. If a brand or company gets in touch and say they will give me a free beauty box and in exchange i must do a RUclips or Instagram post unboxing etc then I’m essentially doing ‘work’ for that brand. If I earned below the tax threshold then freebies are fine. It’s got really strict over the last year or so and HMRC are pulling up on influencers not fully declaring freebies - that’s why everything has to have AD in the content on anything given to me either free or paid sponsored content - it doesn’t matter as it’s all classed as promotion for that brand/company.
      I’m on a few pr lists and I’m sent pr mailers now and again but there was no contract drawn up, no ‘we’ll give you these things in exchange for you promoting them’. These brands want to send me stuff in the hope I promote them in dedicated content but I don’t have to. With Roccabox and other subscription boxes I was asked to do unboxings in exchange for a free box. It’s just now it’s not worth my while as it affects my taxes accepting everything for free. I’m going more sponsored content now which offsets that and its actual money I’m being paid… I still pay tax on it but I’m not financially loosing out x

      @@Diaryofabeautygeek Claire,hope you feel better soon,so Birchbox now increase the price to 17 pounds including p&p and you can customise 2 products out of 5.They promise introducing new brands,i will see what I will get this year, I chose for January is winky lux disco lip gloss and the nuxe rose micellar water ,so i think it is not bad at all.A lot of people complain about Birchbox but comparing to Glossybox I think they are better now.Yeah,there are repeats from before,but i am pleased with all products 🙂

  • @lettievanhemert
    @lettievanhemert 10 месяцев назад +1

    If you donate the products to a non-profit charity would that cancel out the income? If not, you’re probably better off removing yourself from their list.

    • @Diaryofabeautygeek
      @Diaryofabeautygeek  10 месяцев назад +7

      Unfortunately the HMRC don’t care what I do to the products… if I do a dedicated video promoting gifted items based on the requests of a brand (I.e. Roccabox wanted to add me to their PR list to do unboxings for them in exchange for getting a free box) then it’s classed as promotion and I have to declare it. I have to add the value as payment and then I have to pay tax on it. So if I unbox this box every month, it looks like Roccabox have paid me £228 a year which bumps up my total earnings which is fake plus, I pay tax on it.
      I’m doing more sponsored work now instead with brands as at least this way I do actually receive proper money. Xx
