Once again you have astounded me with your videography/editing/music. You have also changed my mind about my plans for next summer. We'll be going DOWN the Ottawa and St Lawrence and I'd planned to give Montreal a pass and just blast on through. You've convinced me that would be a grave error!
Hi CaptJohn, and thanks so much for your kind comments! We travelled the St. Lawrence and Ottawa Rivers in early June after the worst of the spring run-off had finished. We had virtually no current on the Ottawa, it was only the St. Lawrence close to Montreal where we hit such a strong current. The current is much better apparently a bit later in the summer. Either way, you will enjoy seeing this area. Thanks so much for following along.😎
I'm assuming you're home by now and just wanted to thank you for all your wonderful videos. I hope you'll stay in the loop with us Loopers! You've been a great inspiration to us all!
Hi Gary, You assume correctly! It takes time to produce each video so in real-time we have always been ahead of the videos, but we are stretching out the last few episodes to share more of the Rideau Canal! Thanks so much for your kind comments. When we started our channel, we thought only a few people might follow along but we were pleasantly surprised by all the wonderful followers who leave comments. Glad you enjoyed the journey as well. We already knew when we started the loop that we would do it only once. We prefer to try new adventures so if there is interest we will share some of those on RUclips. Because we live on Canada's beautiful west coast, we sold Stay Cool and she is already on another loop with new owners, under a new name. We hope to get another boat here on the west coast (a new Stay Cool!) and plan to share some of this area with our viewers. Thanks so much for following our journey and all the best to you on your own loop adventure!😎
Great video guys! I hope you enjoyed our home town of Montreal. Can’t wait to see your reaction to the next lock, at Carillon or Beauharnois, depending on your route. Be safe.
Hey Gord, we really enjoyed our visit to Montreal! We stayed 4 nights as we were waiting some windy weather which gave us a chance to see more. The Old Port in Montreal is a fantastic stop along the loop. We chose to go along the Ottawa River and down the Rideau so you will see us at Carillon Lock. Thanks so much for watching and as always... safety first!😎
Glad we could bring back some fond memories of Montreal for you Tom. It’s a great place to visit and we had a fun time exploring Old Montreal! Thanks for watching😎
Another awesome cruise! The St. Lawrence River makes those big ships look small. Montreal looks like an awesome place to visit. Seems like you were in France. That was a really nice tour of Montreal that you did. Enjoyed that.
This was a lovely area to cruise and it was neat to see such varied vessels, from jet skis to fishing boats, working vessels and huge ships all on the same waterway. Old Montreal definitely has a European influence and we like the vibe! Glad you enjoyed it TMac and thanks for watching.😎
Welcome to my home town. Montreal is an amazing city to live in or visit. I was happy to see that you took time to explore and enjoy the city. Great video. I am looking forward to the next couple as you travel to Ottawa and the Rideau Canal.
Thanks Gary! We really enjoyed our stop at Montreal’s Old Port. Due to winds and weather we got a couple of extra days enabling us to see even more of Montreal! Loopers that go the Erie route miss out on this great stop. As always thanks for watching today’s episode.😎
Canada should use yoiur video as a draw for tourist. Fantastic place to see and seems so safe and pleasing to walk around enjoying the atmosphere.. Really great. Enjoy
Glad you think so Buck!😆 Canada is a safe place to visit and we welcome visitors! We enjoyed the vibe and overall atmosphere in Old Montreal. Can’t wait to show you more of our waterways… especially the Rideau Canal. Thanks for watching!😎
Thanks Patrick! We sure faced some strong current by Montreal! The next part of our journey takes us along the Ottawa River and then down the Rideau Canal and we cross our wake near Kingston, ON. The Rideau is one of our favourite waterways so we’ll slow down and savour it. Glad you’re enjoying the journey and thanks for following along!😎
You got that right! It's the only place we had so many mossies. A little wind and sun drove them away, shortly after we left the dock. Thanks for watching.😎
Thank you for another interesting, positive and enjoyable video. I remember all the outrage about the cost of the 76 Olympics long forgotten. If you could tell roughly the date of the recording it would be interesting.
Hi Andrew, glad you enjoyed this part of our journey! In the notes for each episode we state the month we travelled. (Click on the title below the RUclips video to expand and read our notes.) This was in early June so the current was very strong! Montreal was a great stop and we’re really glad we chose this route. Thanks so much for watching!😎
Hi Don, glad to hear you’re enjoying our great loop adventure! Our journey takes us next along the Ottawa River and down the Rideau Canal and we cross our wake near Kingston, ON. Thanks so much for following along!😎
Hi Johann, you are correct! There is no tide (or salt water) in this section. If you look at a tidal chart/map you will see the tides start at Sorel-Tracy (where the Richelieu meets the St Lawrence) at only 0.1 feet! Even at Trois Rivières, farther towards the Atlantic Ocean, the tide is only 0.8 feet. Closer to Québec City, the tide is 14 feet! Thanks for watching.😎

So nice of you Karen… we enjoy sharing and thanks for following along!😎
Ah Montréal, my domicile. You did a great job showing the sights. Montreal is my favorite city. Not even close.
Glad we could bring back some fond memories of Montreal for you Tom. It’s a great place to visit and we had a fun time exploring Old Montreal! Thanks for watching😎

Fantastic video. Love to see this country you went through. You are almost Home. Looking forward to the next video. Where do you "cross your wake"?

@@staycool123 Thank you, I will click.
Not too far to cross your wake, plans for the future??? Really enjoying your voyage.

Need to pull over at about the 19 minute mark and pick up a case of Molsens! Unless there's a LaBlatts brewery a little father down. :)
It’s within walking distance of the Old Port!
LaBatts
Got it!
There is obviously no tidal wave which could have carried you up to Montreal?
