If you download a stage mod, it'll be reasonable to assume that it's gonna be rough. I've had plenty of cases of simply... clipping... though the stage.
Hey Waise here. It's nice to see people still enjoying Ozcrash and my Hydro City Zone for Sonic World. 😊 Even tho we are not professionals we put a lot of work in here. Thanks for playing. 👍
Honestly, mushroom hill from sonic generations 3ds is the most beautiful stage in that game so it would be cool to see the entirety of 3k remade in that style.
@@JackoMoonwalker Nah, Latino Sci-Fi Geek has a point 90% of the time in the modern 3D Sonic titles, it's automated gameplay. Homing attacks, grindrails, bumpers, speedboosts that lock you in. It's more spectacle than actual skilled gameplay, which is what the 2D originals had.
"expands" like when he ran for 20 whole seconds without any enemies or obstacles in a tube in marble garden? the levels don't resemble anything of sonic 3 either
Writing this comment after finishing the video. Pretty much everything from Lava Reef Zone and after is exactly what I’m looking for. Perfect mix of 3D gameplay with 2D platforming challenges. A shame LRZ is so shorter than the rest but this is what every zone should strive to be. It seems like all the S&K zones got more love and attention. Sky Sanctuary was pretty good but Lava Reef and Hidden Palace stole the spotlight. And Azure Lake is definitely a reimagining since there was not much of a design to begin with so good job there too. Overall, pretty good job. Those first couple zones needs some touching up though.
I'm a bit disappointed that I barely recognize any of the iconic pieces of each stage. Sonic games have extremely memorable level designs that make replaying levels a treat, since you can explore different routes that all feel unique. I'd expect 3D Sonic Adventure-esque remakes of those levels to keep the iconic pieces of platforming. I guess the game designers were more interested in emulating mechanics of those levels than actually providing a simulation of classic levels and their special little chunks in 3D.
I think this is really meant to be a proof of concept rather than well designed game. I'm under the impression that its meant to be a game engine so modder can make their own sonic fan game.
I do also wish they could have added more things to make it feel like sonic 3, but it looks like they did they’re own thing in a creative way. I think the levels look incredibly dense, and while it’s not exactly S3AK, it looks like it would be fun in its own way.
I made the Angel Island stage, a very long time ago (maybe 6 years ago now?) and it was my first ever attempt 3d modelling. I used SketchUp (anyone who knows 3d modelling will laugh) to make the stage and it was never really intended to be playable, it was just a concept really and a way for me to put my imagination on the screen. The stage was never completed (hence the few enemies, rings and the massive gaps with nothing in them) and I'm kinda surprised it made it out there since I only shared it with a few people. Had to do a double take when I saw my model in the preview window 🤣
Dude that Sky Sanctuary.. man I'd love for the old games to get a 3d remaster like how they did in generations but just the whole thing. S3 & K would look incredible.
Hey Waise here. It's pretty cool to see people still playing Hydro City and Mushroom Hill Zone. ❤️ Brings back old memories where life wasn't that complicated for me. Thank you very much for playing. 😊

Fun fact for those who don't know, if you go into Classic Sonic's XML file and delete the circlecolor code, like no line space between namecolor and lives livescolor, then you can disable Classic's jump and spin aura. You'll know it works if there is no color circle before Classic appears on the Character select. Now you have a truly authentic Classic Sonic, aside from the homing attack and stomping and such. You'll need an xml editor, though Notepad is a notable alternative, since xmls are just lines of code. (This works for all character mods, since again, if you don't know, all character mods are coded the same way in Sonic World. You can very easy change colors, speed and jump if you wanted to. While it's been nonexistent for me, there is a slight possibility of a memory access violation, so I'd back up character files before changing the values.)
I adore this. Well done. I'm loving these modern 3D fan mods that give Sonic wide open spaces to run through, that don't contain the character's speed, and non-precision, spread out platforming actually designed to keep momentum high. I loved the immense verticality on marble garden.
Angel Island needs a tiny bit of work, but that's about it for the "Gripes" I have about it. I also like how you put a timer for Tails' flight ability!
the levels are missing several critical pieces to the experience, but I love how you reimagined them other than the missing parts, things like robotnik having the big plane bomb you are missing for example, but I would love to see how this turns out in a few years, if its this good now.
I love the fluidity of the movement (even if it looks to be a bit slippery), but why is it that so many of these fan projects keep the default camera so darn low to the ground and close to Sonic? D:
Ngl all the zone's structures feels weird (except Sky Sanctuary), maybe because it doesn't have much life? Empty? Idk but the controls are awesome amd the gimmicks too
Personally I don't think the 3d recreation should be this big. It looks alright, don't get me wrong, but for it to be this way doesn't cut it in my opinion 🤔
In all of these Sega hire this man tech demos it's impossible to keep from shooting out the side of the loop de loops so they put guard rails up that you have to bounce off. Keeping the camera focused on Sonic is very disorienting for loops and spirals.
Not to detract from all of the work that was put into this, but having loved the original sonic 3 and knuckles since childhood I think this really helps cement how poorly sonic the hedgehog translates to 3D gameplay.
Look up the twitter clip of the current Sonic Project Hero build. It's not out yet but it's looking like the best Sonic fan project by a wide margin. Imo.
Great impressive a lot of job, maybe some rework on texture tiling and some level design to add depth to see background world that is an important part of sonic visual.
I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY SEGA WONT JUST REMAKE THE FIRST 3 GAMES IN 3D. I mean I guess it would be too hard & I don’t know shit about game development but they are basically sitting on a goldmine. Anyways, BRILLIANT job.
Writing this comment as I’m finishing up Mushroom Hill. Hydrocity Zone and Mushroom Hill Zone are the best zones thus far. Angel Island and Marble Garden are way too open and Marble Garden is way too green. There needs to be more stone textures. Also, too many setpieces in general with Marble Garden being the worst offender. That zone needs a comeplete overhaul imo. One other thing: if this is supposed to be faithful reimagining of S3&K, include more platforming pieces specific for each zone. Bring back the waterfall and underwater sections of Angel Island, the rotating cylinders and the gray elongating blocks in Hydrocity, the heavily sloping hills that encourage platforming with speed and the caves in Marble Garden, that seesaw machine in Mushroom Hill. The problem with these 3D fan games is that it’s too 3D. Too open, too much reliance on setpieces with dash pads and homing attacks and not enough emphasis on platforming, especially for a fangame that’s taking after S3&K. Overall, still a decent transition to 3D. Mushroom Hill is the closest to it being done right so far.
While I have to admit the character animation looks like they are running much slower than they are and the camera often take angles that obscur the character's movement's destination and running on top of a corner of two planes (like inside a pipe) makes the character spasm / flicker, all of this actually look impressive.
Alot of the stages look empty and bare bones, like you have a ton of room to run around but nothing to flesh out the land to give it depth and feel alive. Secondly, i fear players could EASILY get lost in these stages. Being the creator you obviously know the direct route but we do not. and lastly, no stage bosses?
Oh dude...I'm a big fan of the old STH games....Love every lvl but you this vid made me fall in love what it can be...i swear if they do finish this game let us know...i want to see how the boss fights, the emerald stages and such would turn out. you got a subscriber and like here :D

This made me think that an approach closer to kirby forgotten land for the 3d for sonic may be interesting. With that said I think this looks pretty fun for the stage it's at. A big pointer would be something about the way the camera moves with Sonic in those loops is kind of dizzying. Idk if it's the tiles or what but I could definitely see why sonic games zoom out when we reach those loops. Not sure though.
There is something about this I love it all really but I guess it feels a bit... Open? Like there is too much space. Over all it's a great reimagining, and I hope there are tons of improvements on it
Looks great, but the speed looks like its a bit harder to control than it needs to be which could lead to ufair ring loss or even death. Seems to be a common issue with sonic fan projects though.
