still making money with mine i love it! all we see are comparison videos in an age of perpetual upgrades. obviously 1/2 inch sensor is not as good as a 1" but that doesnt mean you cant achieve amazing results, its what you do with it. it still is a superb drone.

And yeah I feel like that's true with anything really, people love to compare in order to establish the value or capabilities of something, and oftentimes we get tunnel vision and forget that something is way beyond what we really need, even if it's not technically "the best" out there.

I had an Air 2 Fly More combo for a few months before losing it due to a series of poor choices 🙄 (let's just say there was an alligator involved.) Highly recommended, and the Fly More package is a must have. All else being equal, at $799 for the Air 2 vs $999 for the Air 2S I'd go with the 2S. But all things aren't equal, and it's a lot easier to find a good deal on the Air 2. I picked up a replacement for $550 in a flash sale and I can promise the 2S is not $450 better and the 2 is plenty "good enough" for my purposes.

I fly both, Air 2 and Air 2s. I'm a strong advocate of both, but for different reasons. I recommend the Air 2 for beginners who want a step above what a Mini can offer. Now with Mini 3, this might be a moot point. But the Mavic Air 2 offers a good balance between quality and usability while still remaining very powerful for beginning pilots and photographers. I tend to prefer the Air 2 for lighter weight stuff like social media, etc. I recommend the Air 2s for folks who want to more professional results in small form factor. For folks who understand the nuances of photography and need better dynamic range, 10-bit color, or outstanding low light performance, the Air 2s fits the bill. And in most cases outfitted with the correct ND filter, can take the place of the far more expensive Mavic 3 and definitely replace the dated Mavic 2 Pro IMHO, even the standard version of Mavic 3 isn't enough of a step up to spend an almost extra 2k unless that drone is coming with monetary returns on the investment. Or you just have lots of disposable income :-) I believe DJI has done wonders in their Air lineup that allow these drones to coexist comfortably in their lineup, while meeting the needs of most photographers - both amateur and professional alike. Great job, and great review! Excellent footage too.

i have the original mavic mini right now. Dont get me wrong the mini is a capable drone i really would like an upgrade. It would be sick to see a mini three with upgraded transmission and sensor.

One thing I had really hoped would be ported to Air2S from Air2 was its High dynamic range (The HDR mode on Air2) is weirdly good and the Air2S is not even close in taxing environments like a direct sunset..

Personally I think the Air2 is the best bang for the buck for a newcomer, that is pursuing flymore combo and ain't priotising the 250g limit, as you get all the bells and whistle with tracking and gorgeous 1080p stream, and a very fast drone 70km/h that ain't sensitive for wind, and that "wind" can be quite vital for a newcomer and the Air2 is just an overall extremely well build drone with a polished DJI experience with tons of features.. with fly more in 2022, ain't it something like.. (USD with Flymore) # Mini2 600 # Air2 790 # Mini3 950 # Air2S 1300 and the flymore bundle for the Air2/S series is something like 450 USD DJI retail value whereas for the Mini series it's more like 250 USD of inner value' if you summon the partvalue of fx Mini3 fly more pack. And the Air2 still holds features that is specific to it... Like 8K hyper-lapse (6sec alongside the standard 4K) way more useful 240Fps slow-mo, and its HDR feature which are miles better than what I have seen on DJI other comparable quads. It's ability to balance high and lows, even in extremely challenging shots like a direct sunset. I had hoped its HDR mode - would have been ported to Air2S, but no dice.. I reckon it's more or less the same SoC amongst Air2 and Air2S, and with the bigger sensor, it perhaps can compute it and could also be why we didn't see the quite more useful 240fps slow-mo on Air2S as people had on Air2. Its only active in D-log / Cinelike, but since its still in a rec709 with 4:2:0 ain't the colors only still 8 bit??. Its the same rec709 4:2:0 as we have seen for so many years and back to Mavic Pro. I really think its a missed oppertunity on Mavic 3 that its also limited to rec709 4:2:0 when you have in mind its price and its a proconsumerdrone, and we have seen mobiles for numerous years recording in rec2020.. fx Iphone since Iphone7 are able to shoot in rec2020 with wide gamut. DJI should really elevate themself into real HDR so all the consumers devices can take advantage of it..as so many Tvs and mobiles, and tablets.. supports HDR format, even here YT, and Im not asking for dynamic HDR, on a frame by frame basic, just static HDR. Example of the 240fps slow motion on Air2. It depends really, but honestly for most people the Mini 2 would do just fine. That being said, I'd still step up to the Air 2, it's more robust and better in flight.
Don't waste money, I can buy more expensive drone but youtube gives little and always trying to block small creators. They help only some creators they like, some creators use only gopro, some only staying home without using those expensive cameras, drones, yet they have millions of views everytime than those having expensive gears, so there's no point

There is no dedicated Portrait mode for the Air 2. You'd have to crop in in post.
