Im a Baptist, my wife is an SDA. We definitely have our differences in beliefs but we always remember the most important concept of salvation. We are not saved by our works but by the works of Jesus Christ. We put our faith in Him.

I’m very impressed with the clear, concise, truthfulness of this presentation. Thank you, brother. I used to be a staunch Anglican. Then I married a Catholic man and we were married for many years, until his death. After studying the Bible diligently with American pastors and seeing their Revelation seminars on screen, some of my family became Seventh Day Adventists because we were convicted of the seventh day Sabbath truth. Yes, the Baptist and SDA churches share similar doctrines, but I am fully convinced that the SDA Church is most closely in synch with what the Bible teaches. I love this Church, but my second best choice would be the Baptist church. Love and prayers to all who strive to honor our wonderful God🙏🏻❤️

Romans 14:5-6, Paul wrote: "One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks."
Any day or all the day you worship God is fine.

      @@porfiriojohn5276 KJV does have error...
      Here's some examples:
      1. Mark 15:25 says “And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.” - John 19:14-16 says “…about the sixth hour…they cried out…crucify him….Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified.”
      2. 2 Kings 24:8 says “Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months.” - 2 Chronicles 36:9 says “Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem…”
      3. 2 Kings 8:26 says “Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign…” - 2 Chronicles 22:2 says “Forty and two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign…”
^- This is the one they use a lot cause its pretty obvious... lol...
      4. 2 Samuel 6:23 says “Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death” - 2 Samuel 21:8 says “But the king took…the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul”
      5. 2 Samuel 8:3-4 says “David smote also Hadadezer…and took from him…seven hundred horsemen…” - 1 Chronicles 18:3-4 says “David smote Hadarezer…and took from him…seven thousand horsemen…”
      6. Gen 32:30 states “…for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” - John 1:18 states, “No man hath seen God at any time…”
      7. James 1:13 says “..for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man.” - Gen 22:1 says “And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham…”
      8. Matt 1:16 says, “And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus…” - Luke 3:23 says “And Jesus…the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli”
      9. Gen 2:17 says “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day thou eastest thereof thou shalt surely die - Gen 5:5 says “And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.”
      10. 1 Samuel 31:4-6 says “…Saul took a sword and fell upon it. And when his armour bearer saw that Saul was dead and…died with him. So Saul died…” - 2 Samuel 21:12 says “…the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa.”
      11. 2 Kings 25:8 says “And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month…Nebuzaradan…came…unto Jerusalem” - Jeremiah 52:12 says “…in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month…came Nebuzaradan…into Jerusalem”
      12. 1 Kings 4:26 says “And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots…” - 2 Chronicles 9:25 says “And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots…”
      So perfect... lol...
      Oh and false prophets?
      Jehovahs witness, yes...
      Mormons, yes...
      Adventist?
      1. Christ didn't say that their would be no true prophets...
      2. SDA's don't raise EGW's writings above or equal to scripture (Generally, their has been some crazy birds...). On our website it makes it clear everything we believe is based on the Bible.
      3. We also make it clear that whilst we believe in the gift of prophecy (something Paul says is the most sought after), we do not simply follow shifting winds. (We do test them).
Answer to #4 & #5: Whilst all Bible Translations all have that "gospel." That doesn't make every translation "accurate."
You are clearly against JW, but you wouldn't call their translation 100% accurate.
      Answer to #6: Evidence?
Simply saying these are false doesn't make them false. (ik, mormons and JW's have a few screws loose), but evidence is key...
Just like how an atheist can say, "Christianity is False," and yet, provide no evidence.
      Answer to Answer:
1.Answer to the whole "death sleep thing"
Why don't you check out the original Hebrew for "Ecclesiastes 9:5," " For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing."
Then once you do, read 2 Timothy 3:16,17...
Search up the original Greek for the words "all" and "scripture."
Then once you have read that, read Malachi 3:6, and search up the original Hebrew for that...
Then once you have done that, read 1 Thessalonians 4:16 and check out the original Greek...
Then, once you have read that... Remember that claim Satan made in the Garden of Eden in Genesis 3:4, "Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die." (I want you to let that sink in for a moment, and contemplate that if hell is really an infinite torturous place...) Then read Revelation 21:1-4 for a conclusion... Check out the original language there too... and also look at the Grammar, its pretty obvious...
Maybe for added bonus check out Hebrews 13:8... this will help you understand that the way it was during Israel's times is the exact same as now...
If this doesn't generally help you please tell me... and why...
If you are implying that rest (sleep) doesn't = Sabbath rest then... that's easy to answer...
Malachi 3:6 says, "I am the Lord, I do not change."
And that language is exactly as it is in the original language.
Therefore, that means God (including Christ) doesn't change their mind... Therefore, when God "intensionally writes His hand in stone." it is set in stone, no alternation, no shifts, nothing...
Besides, claiming the morale law changes, actively fulfills Daniel 7:5, and makes morality subjective, which is a fatal problem to have as a Christian.
Since, that is exactly what Atheist's and Agnostics teaches, and fights with.
If the law is subject to change, it is a) not perfect [or] b) subjective.
Most Christians agree that "sin is the transgression of God's law." But yet, they deny the law, since they think Grace can be gotten for free.
You don't just give an allowance to a child unless they earned it through work.
The law is not a burden, it is easy, a method by which, "If followed," acts as guard rails.
Keeping a stable connection between a man and God, and man with fellow man.
God's law is Separate from Moses's law...
As is the case by where the two laws where placed on/in the Ark of the Covenant, and the two different descriptions of them throughout the whole Bible.
Please tell me how I'm wrong, and ask me any questions...
Maybe describe your beliefs too, I'm interested.

@@MountCarmel007 Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
I think I understand how you interpret Rev. 12:17. I’m not even disagreeing with what you expect to happen.
      A few problems, however.
It’s true that the dragon has followers and he recruits them to do his work - prosecute his “war”, if you will. On the other hand, Revelation 12:17 makes no reference to that.
I also understand that you think the word, “remannat” in this passage is a reference to a religious organization of which you are, presumably, a member. I’m no Greek scholar but, in the King James translation, the word, “have”, reveals that the reference is to people (plural) who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus. If the word, “remnant”, were a reference to an organization, the word verb would be “has”. (The number of the subject and the number of the predicate should agree.)
Do you like to suppose people who worship the Lord on Sunday are “apostates”?
True Christians worship the Lord every day of the week.
Do you WANT the people you call “apostates” to hate you? Would that (or does that) “prove” to your satisfaction that the word, “remnant”, refers to you?
Do you know what a self-fulfilling prophecy is?
Do you think people might actually begin to hate you for calling them “apostate” (especially if you persist in doing that) completely aside from whether you are “right” and they are “wrong” about the way they understand the Bible?
Maybe you have a way of interpreting Romans 12:3 differently than I understand it: ”For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”
Is it possible that spiritual pride is actually a worse sin than working on the day the Lord rested?

    • @apothneisko

Because Presbyterians are a historic Protestant denomination with fairly orthodox theology and the SDA is a pretty heterodoxical and at times heretical sect with many holding to White’s writings as authoritative, being historically non trinitarian, and the mercy seat ministry of Christ being very different from what most Christians would hold to. Presbyterians by contrast are trinitarian, hold to the Westminster confession as a statement of faith but not as being authoritative, and have a fairly common evangelical soteriology.

It is not the same period of “tribulation” that the baptists would ascribe as the 7 years of tribulation during which the saints are raptured to heaven and those sinners must suffer here on earth. If I was not already a Pentecostal Christian before becoming an Adventist, I might have thought that the issues of salvation's security and eternal burning hell were false, but I know the bible doesn't teach what popular churches hold.
Baptists is much older than adventist, but that's how God formed His Church, and the Adventist Church was formed from, out of, the mainline protestant churches during the Great awakening.
All may not be right in the Adventist or Independent Baptist churches, but they are closest to the bible than all others.
With the Sabbath very clear, Adventism is the church of the end times.

Can you agree with me that “the church” (or “the true church”) consists of everyone who is learning to trust the Lord?
Can you agree with me that, with few exceptions*, we (Christians) should treat people as Christians - and refer to people as Christians - who claim to be Christians?
The General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists has registered the word, “Adventist” as a trademark. If I were to use a capital A in referring to someone as an Adventist who isn’t a member of the Seventh-day Adventist organization, that would be in violation of trademark.
Can you agree with me that the advent movement of the 1830s and early 1840s was an interdenominational movement (at least in the United States)?
Can you agree with me that there were scores of clergy and hundreds of laity of a variety of denominations who considered themselves adventists in the early 1840s - two decades before there was any such thing as a Seventh-day Adventist organization?
It is impossible to comprehend the use of the word “adventist” and the phrase, “second adventist” in the 1830’s and early ‘40 without being aware that the majority of U.S. citizens of that era subscribed to a postmillennial eschatology - the belief popularized by Jonathan Edwards that Jesus would return AFTER a thousand years of peace and increasing prosperity, during which time almost all of the governments of the world and almost all of the other institutions of the world would adopt “Christian” principles AND that the premillennial dispensationalist/futurist eschatology popular among “evangelicals” in the twenty-first century was virtually unknown in the United States until after the War Between the States (1861-1865).
Can you agree with me that the people who considered themselves adventists in the early 1840s would have likely used the word “adventist” to refer to anyone who expected Jesus to return BEFORE the millennium?
Can you agree with me that, if there were adventists before there was a Seventh-day Adventist organization, there still are people who are adventists in that sense, namely, whose belief in a premillennial second advent is based on the historical historicist method of Bible interpretation but who aren't members of the Seventh-day Adventist organization?
In the twenty-first century, if someone says, “I expect Jesus to return soon”, that sentence, by itself, wouldn’t give you a clue as to whether that person’s expectation is based in the historicist or the futurist method of interpretation - which would also mean that you wouldn’t know what that person expects Jesus to do when he does return.
It wasn’t until about 2018 that I started studying the beliefs of the Advent Christian Church. I soon learned that the baptist farmer-turned-lay-preacher, William Miller (whose calculations of the 2300 days of Daniel 8:14 led to the nineteenth century advent movement) expected Jesus to return to resurrect people who had died in faith and “catch up” into the air all of the redeemed - but only long enough to cleans the earth with fire - and then return the redeemed to the surface of the earth to begin his millennial reign. (The Advent Christian Church still advocates a similar understanding of the purpose of the return of Jesus.)
Sometime in the 1940s (probably 1844), a new understanding of the purpose of the return of Jesus was suggested, namely, that catching up believers into the air will be the first stage of a trip from Earth to heaven where the redeemed will reign with Jesus for a thousand years before returning to Earth. (And that the redeemed will reign with Jesus during the millennium in a judicial capacity rather than as the Lord’s henchmen to enforce the Lord’s will on Earth.)
If we define “adventist” (at least in the lowercase sense of that word) as people who are historicist premillennialism), how can we distinguish (what word or phrase can we use to refer to) people who agree with Seventh-day Adventists about the purpose of the second advent of Jesus but who aren’t members of that organization?
*For me, one exception is that I don’t consider anyone to be a Christian who claims to have achieved moral perfection.

@@solomonebhodaghe5312 We aren’t saved by our theology. To put it another way: We are not saved by what we know. We are saved by whom we know.
The careful study of theology, however, allows us to avoid making certain kinds of “mistakes” that have the potential to interfere with the promulgation of the gospel - including that aspect or those aspects of the gospel that we may be specifically called to emphasize.
There are two reasons to use the word, “church” to refer to believers and to avoid using that word to refer to any organization of believers. (One or both of these reasons may have been why none of the names of Seventh-day Adventist organizations created in the 1860s included the word “Church”.) 1: Biblical usage of the word, “church”, is limited to the sense in which believers ARE the church. 2: In Revelation 14:12, the word, “they” is a reference to people who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
I have no objection to understanding Revelation 14:12 as a reference to a latter-day movement within the Christian church but to adopt a construct of Revelation 14:12 that represents “the faith of Jesus” as the writings of a latter-day prophet makes no sense, even to me after attending SdA schools for 12-1/2 years. That interpretation may seem plausible to people who are looking for spiritual authority and are inclined to think that spiritual authority is vested in or received from the officers of a religious organization but I have never subscribed to that doctrine and it makes no sense to anyone else who believes the true church consist of true believers, regardless of our denominational affiliation.
I’m protestant. One of the things I protest is a statement by Mark Finley (made during a series of public “meetings”) that the only decision we need to make is which is the true Church. And yes, I wrote to the executive committee of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists about that statement and never even got a reply.
If you wish to represent the promulgation of the three angels’ messages as a latter-day movement within the Christian church, I have no objection to that. But only if the interpretation of those messages is devoid of the we-are-it syndrome. The historicist advent movement could again become an interdenominational movement within the Christian church but the WAY the advent movement is represented by many SdA mitigates against it ever being that again.

The church won't be scattered when the believers come out. The SDA leadership may not be directly as with the Adventist church, but truth may stream from her to them. Also, the last message is to "prophesy again" Rev 10, and that message has a particular deginition - that's the theological aspect of the last day church.
So, SDA has a strong end time role for God's people

As an Adventist, I appreciate what you said. One thing I would make clear is some SDAs are starting to question some of our beliefs, such as the Mark of the Beast and the Investigative Judgement. The Mark of the Beast is the opposite of the Seal of God. Those who receive the Seal of God are the one who keep his commandments and have faith in Jesus (Rev. 14:11-12). This is not just limited those who go to church on Sunday who can receive the Mark of the Beast. Even those who go to church on Saturday can break the 4th commandment. Many people are breaking the 7th commandment with divorce, sex outside of marriage, and homosexuality. Many people are also breaking the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 8th, and 9th commandments. Now that's not to say if you break one commandment you automatically get the Mark of the Beast. Because God will forgive when we ask him to. But those who have no love for God in their hearts are the ones who receive the Mark.

In the 1950s, my SdA parents, their SdA pastors and my SdA teachers told me SdA have no creed other than the Bible. For much of my life, the SdA list of “Fundamental Beliefs” included a preamble that stated that SdA have no creed other than the Bible. The preamble even included a mention of the possibility of someday finding better language with which to express Bible doctrines. So, if I use different language to explain my beliefs than the wording of the “official” list of Fundamental Beliefs, does that mean I’m not “really” an adventist?
Example 1: Before the return of Jesus, is there an initial phase of the final judgment?
My answer is yes. Here’s what I believe about that. It began at the close of the 2300 days of Daniel 9. Each person’s probation closes when he makes his final choice between God’s way of governing the universe (love) and Satan’s way (coercion). The examination of the life records of people who died before the close of the 2300 days occurred first. At some point, that phase of the judgment passed (or will pass) to the living. After that, each person’s record is being (or will be) examined upon his making his final choice. (We are saved by grace alone through faith alone - not by our choices - but we do have a choice of which kind of government we prefer.) People who chose God’s way are “safe to save” - i.e. would not make heaven into a living hell. People who chose Satan’s way are not safe to save because they prefer to punish anyone who disagrees with them. People who chose God’s way have the record of their confessed and forgiven sins expunged (cleansed) from the heavenly records before Jesus returns.
I have never believed and have never taught that God or anyone else involved in the pre-advent heavenly tribunal “decide” who will be resurrected or translated at the second advent of Jesus. I have never believed and I have never taught a) that no one’s sins are forgiven until his name “comes up” in the investigative phase of the judgment, b) that God will arbitrarily close human probation or c) that Satan is or ever will be our sin-bearer.
Example 2: What is the mark of the beast?
Here is what I believe about that. Coercion (especially with regard to religious beliefs, religious practices and religious prohibitions) is what has always identified or “marked” the beast. The mark is said to be received in the forehead or in the hand - which I think represents the fact that it can be received by participating in the persecution of people with whom we disagree or by giving tacit assent to such persecution. By contrast, the seal of God is said to be received in the forehead - which I think represents the great truth that salvation (justification, sanctification and glorification) is only by grace and only through faith.

Most Adventist teachings are borrowed... so these are probably linked and connected. On the protestant family tree... Methodism is the mother of Adventism(EGW was a Methodist)...but Baptist is the father(James White was a Baptist and the Sabbath was learned from the 7th day Baptists). We claim to be descendants of the Reformers... even some of our traits and characteristics are just old school Protestantism from pre-1950s America. We are just very, very slow to change. The taboos you mentioned were commonly found in Baptist churches up till the 80s! I grew up in Kentucky which is home of Bourbon and a stronghold of the Southern Baptist Church... and it was only recently that 90% of Kentucky counties were dry because of the church's influence. You could make alcohol in Kentucky...but you could not buy nor consume it in the majority of its counties!

God will judge each person according to how they lived and whether they had hearts purified by the faith of Jesus Christ. Not every one that said Lord, Lord will enter heaven (Matthew 7:21-23) but he that does the will of God. I'm an SDA and have wonderful good friends who are Baptist, however we must remember one thing. When Jesus comes back he's not coming back to save a denomination, he's coming back for his bride(church) and there are only 2 churches, the church of God and the church of the devil, and Jesus will save those that belong to his church see Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. So basically anyone who keeps the commandments and have the faith of Jesus will be the ones who belong to the church of Christ.

Seventh Day Baptists might be a small group, but they were a part of the original Baptist movement of the early 17th century. For example, Henry Jessey was pastor of the JLJ church where baptism by immersion was first practiced. He also kept the seventh day Sabbath. Another prominent example is Joseph Stennet who represented all Baptists on numerous occasions before the king of England. Seventh day Baptists didnt start as a separate group, rather most early baptist congregations had some seventh day sabbath keepers among them. But in an effort to avoid persecution, Baptists signed on to the westminster confession which superceded previous baptist confessions which didnt speak against the seventh day sabbath. Anyway, After the glorious revolution, when baptists reconvened the #1 controversy was why they had abandoned their seventh day Sabbath keeping brethren by signing the Westminster confession. This is how Seventh Day Baptists got started. And by the way, Seventh Day Baptists originally looked a lot more like Seventh-day Adventists today. They didnt eat unclean meats, they believed Sunday worship would be the mark of the beast, they were pre-millennial historicists, and some also believed in soul sleep and annihilationism. For the full history see BR Whites book 17th Century Baptists and Bryan Ball's book Seventh Day Men.
Bottom line: the rejection of seventh day Sabbath keepers in favor of associating with Presbyterians has a history dating back to the 17th century.

@fredkim01 Good question. No, the Spirit expressly revealed that circumcision is no longer in effect at the Jerusalem council. (Acts 15) Furthermore, circumcision was given to Abraham. (Gen 17) On the otherhand, the seventh day Sabbath was given to Adam and mankind. (Gen. 2:1-3; Mark 2:27) Circumcision is not in the Ten Commandments. Neither are the new moon festivals or feast day Sabbaths. But the seventh day Sabbath is in the 4th Commandment written by Gods own finger on tables of stone. (Exodus 20:8-11) The Ten Commandments were placed in the ark of the covenant, a symbol of God's eternal presence and character and government, but the ceremonial law of Moses was kept outside as a shadow of things to come. (Deut. 31:26; Col. 2:17) Never does the New Testament say anything against the seventh day Sabbath which Jesus and his disciples kept habitually. (Luke 4:16; Acts 17:2) Neither do the Scriptures indicate any justification for transferring the Sabbath to the first day of the week. If we want to follow the Jesus of the Bible, then we will honor Him on the day of His choosing as the Creator and not a day based on man-made tradition. (Rev. 14:6-12)

My husband And I have been to many denominations in our lives. Not because we were unhappy in them, it mostly for convenience since we moved a bit. We started out in the Disciples of Christ (1st Christian Church), we’ve gone to Baptist, Assembly of God, and Foursquare. I graduated from a Christian College. We were led into the SDA church by throwing away our pre-conceived ideas a/out Revelation and only used different Bible version and the Strongs. Many churches refuse to teach Revelation because they say it’s too confusing. We found many doctrines ‘wanting’ and left more questions than answers. We came upon an SDA pastor at a county fair and gave us a quick overview of Revelation in Conjunction with Daniel, listened to. Prophecy seminar (highly recommended), then it all came together and made sense. No other books but the Bible.

@hollyegee2199 my gifts are timed prophecies and how God placed signs in the heavens to affirm the dates. I'm fully aware of SDA woman made interpretations and there is no truth in EGW's interpretations or her list of failed prophecies.
The HOLY SPIRIT has given me supernatural verifications while I was working on Dan. 9:24-27 and Ezek. 4:1-7. The year the decree was issued to Nehemiah was 454 BC not 457 BC. I discovered it when I became interested in Blood Moon Tetrads that land on Jewish Feast days. In 454 BC there was the 1st blood moon over Jerusalem and Babylon where Nehemiah was cup bearer for Artaxerxes. I can even pull out of the scriptures the day Nisan 14th and the 9th hour. 483 years later to the day and hour JESUS is cut off Nisan 14th at the 9th hour.
Ezek. 4:1-5 was a project in the works when I was bathing the word Rome came out of my mouth for no particular reason. My wife heard me say Rome, then asked Rome what? I could tell her the iron pan siege was a Roman siege because the iron was the symbolic metal for the Roman empire and the pan symbolic for the wall of Roman shields round about Jerusalem. I looked up the Pompey siege and 63 BC was the date. I counted back from 63 BC and to GOD go the glory 390 years also began in 454 BC. I also found in Nehemiah 8 they finished the streets and walls and dedicated themselves to the LORD and that day Elu. 1(Feast of Trumpets) the second blood moon was happening.
During this time the HOLY SPIRIT caused me to wake at 4:54 AM every day exactly. This went on for months until the day I was finishing up, when my wife came down in the nook where I was working and announced it was 4:54 PM. At that moment the iron pan in the kitchen rang out with little pings. This verification is for HIS glory.
Final fact is after the 31ad cross Ezek. 4:67 began ending in a Titus iron pan siege in 70 ad. Note the arm revealed in Ezek. 4:7 is CHRIST arm revealed in Isa. 53:1.
I'm positive if you ask your SDA Pastor, he will deny everything I shared with you and stick with the dead woman's excuse for the Great Disappointment of 1844.
See: NASA 5 Millennium lunar eclipses; 453 BC.
PS. in 168 BC at the end of the 2300 evenings and mornings 9 days after the Maccabees cleansed the Sanctuary another Blood Moon Tetrad was over head to mark the day. ✝💟

But if you know the truth and choose to do what you wish, it is a sin. Not only because of this, but because one bad choice and sin always leads to another. Secondly because the bible talks about our bodies being the temple for the holy spirit. The holy spirit can not work in a powerful way if we go against bible teachings. And also if people knew what governments and large companys put in meats/ dairy/ seafood and all processed food we would not touch the stuff. Pray about it and ask God to reveal his truth to you.

We don't perpetually expect Him to be crucified weekly and resurrected weekly, if that is what you are saying? He is one and done as HE is the perfection of sacrifice. Animals had to be sacrificed weekly due to waiting for the Perfect Lamb to come. As for buried (not asleep) is also correct when you view the term "sleep" as a separate act from our daily routine of sleeping. Jesus was dead. Dead. Dead all that second day. But, (here is mind blowing miracles we don't understand because we are not gods and can't fathom the things He can do) He brought Himself back to life! That is more than we can understand and we will spend eternity learning about it all and more. I am super excited to spend my days in His warmth and experiencing pure love without any fears. On the right track but not exactly how I see it.
When a person is saved, they are born again. They have a new heart and mind for God. As such, a saved Adventist should keep the law because the holy spirit and therefore Christ dwells in them and the saved soul wants to keep the commandments because the law is just and right. Sanctification is a journey of surrender to the holy spirit and Christ. The complete perfect Christian in the Adventist view is a born again individual who has the character of Christ, not out of obligation, fear, or force but willingly out of love and understanding.

    • @RealBobEvans
      @RealBobEvans 2 года назад +9

      Not really.
Baptists believe that saved people cannot keep the 10 commandments (1 John 1:8) because were still sinners saved solely by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9).
HOWEVER, Baptists also believe in the ongoing sanctification of the believer. When we got saved (born again), we were indwelt with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13), given a new heart (Ezekiel 36:26). God literally makes us new creatures (2 Corinthians 5:17).
The point of the law and the 10 commandments is to show us how far short we come. Human effort will always fall short of God’s righteousness. That’s why Jesus had to die for all our sins. All he asks is that we trust him by faith (John 1:12). When we do this, he declares us righteous before God (2 Corinthians 5:21) and he will mold us to become more and more like him in this life as we grow in sanctification.

If you don’t believe the 7th day is the Sabbath, you could research for yourself why most Christians keep Sunday, the first day as Sabbath. You will learn that long after the death and resurrection of Jesus a human, whose nature was no different from ours, changed the Sabbath day to Sunday. It was after I studied the first day Sabbath origins and compared them to the Bible that I embraced the seventh day Sabbath. I understood I should obey the commandment of my creator and not the first day man and the Christian church he founded, and other men promoted. It just made no sense to me that a human person such as myself had the authority to change the day spoken of in the Ten Commandments. It was ultimately the word of the Bible that convicted me of the seventh day Sabbath. I am so thankful that I looked into it because I wondered why a few of my friends went to church on Saturday. They didn’t even preach to me, they were just nice people that I had known and admired for years through high school and college. Their lives pointed me to Jesus and the result was that I fell in love with Jesus and His word, studied and learned something that changed my life. There are so many resources online on Seventh-day Adventists websites, in bookstores and on racks in Seventh-Day Adventist churches. Plus, Jesus promised in the Bible if we seek, we will find. That is my testimony, for which I am so grateful.

4:19 @Ready To Harvest Partly true/partly false. It depends on the local conferences and the size of the churches. I’m originally from Dayton, OH area and all SDA churches in that area have picked their own pastor(s) through a nominating committee. The local conference then approves of the final selection. I moved to Dallas, TX area years ago and I don’t know for sure if the TX Conference assigns pastors to a church with moderate to large congregations. The conference does however assign pastors to two to three churches in the rural areas. I know the same can be said of the Oklahoma Conference, as my cousin’s husband pastors three churches and was assigned the churches. So, it really depends on the state and area that determines whether or not the conference assigns pastors to certain churches.

    • @OnlytheBible
      @OnlytheBible Год назад

Yes brother, you are correct, in the United States of America, the local churches work in connection with the conference to determine who will be the next pastor (usually, in the past my family members that go to one conference that has a lot of carribean influence are indeed assigned a pastor even though the nominating committee will not agree to it). So it can indeed be a mixture of assignment, voting. The best is in my opinion voting, most assignments against the will of the church have been negative in my albeit limited experience

Most Adventist teaching are not unique. Are teachings are a conglomeration of various reformists... Some are Calvinistic, others are Weslyan and then a sprinkling of others. @@robbiebob6267 this ducting dies not originate with Adventists. Its borrowed like 90% of our theology.
I just found this from research..
Neither White nor Russell were the first to say this. There is much disinformation claiming that the concept is an old Arian doctrine, however, there is no evidence for that in the history books, and I can find no evidence that it predates the 18th century, though you found John Calvin discussing it in the 16th century.
The oldest source I can find on this subject is "The Glory of Christ as God-Man" by Isaac Watts. The linked source below was printed in 1795, but Watts died in 1748, so he clearly penned it earlier than 1748.
When examining the story of Daniel in the Lion's Den, Watts suggests it as a possibility that the Archangel Michael is Christ on page 223
The Glory of Christ as God-Man Page 223 - Written before 1748 from an edition printed 1795
And may not Christ himself be this Michael the Arch-angel, the Prince of Israel? It has been observed by some writers, that the scripture never speaks of arch-angels in the plural number; perhaps there is but one arch-angel and that is Christ.
Interestingly, in a footnote on page 224, Watts notes that some think that the angel that appeared to Daniel was not Gabriel, but was Christ. Also interesting, Watts does not seem to be giving his own theology, but parroting what he has read or heard elsewhere. The fact that John Calvin was discussing it 200 years earlier is evidence of that.
Moving on with another, pre-White, pre-Russell source ...
A man named William Kinkade wrote "The Bible doctrine of God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, atonement, faith, and election" in 1829, predating White and Russell by over 50 years. I cannot find any information on this particular man except that he wrote this book. In it, he dedicates an entire chapter to Michael and Jesus and the theology that they are the same person.
The Bible doctrine of God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, atonement, faith, and election Page 153 - Written 1829
To me this evidence proves beyond resonable dispute, that Michael is one of the names of Christ; because if the Church is the seat of this war, and if Christ is the Captain of our salvation, and the leader of his people, he must be the person who is here mentioned under the name of Michael.
Kinkade is not the only person of this time to hold this view, he claims.
      ibid Page 152
I am not alone in this opinion; most of the principal writers of the Trinitarian school have advocated the same doctrine.

Most people hear that sda's think Jesus is the archangel Michael and presume that sda says that Jesus is a created angle but that isn’t the case. When they say that he is the archangel, they mean that he is the commander of the heavenly angels and had and will lead the angles against satan and his fallen angles. Sda’s hold the mainstream view of Jesus being fully god, not a created being. Also, angle simply means messenger and Jesus did bring a message from his father to the world so technically there is nothing wrong with him being called an angle.

@@robbiebob6267 I’m sure that if any sda met someone that held your viewpoint then they would just say that yes, Jesus isn’t an angle. He is god and not created. The view that He is Michale the archangel isn’t a widely known opinion among sda’s and it’s definitely not something to argue over between members or even an actual doctrinal stand by the organization. It’s just an opinion that some have when they see that the characteristics of Michale archangel and Jesus are shared so they just say that Michale archangel may be just another name for Jesus like Messiah or Son of Man… So for people who think that the word “angle” can only be used for created beings then sda’s would say that Jesus isn’t an angle but for those who say that angle can be used for it’s literal meaning than they could say that it is another name for Jesus. But no sda would say that Jesus is a created being. Just a misunderstanding with semantics and each individual’s use of specific words. I just wanted to clarify that the view wasn’t heresy because it’s just used as a name and not as a statement that Jesus is a created being.

I think one reason why people think this is hard to imagine is that they have an incorrect belief that the antichrist is going to enforce an obvious evil on people. It will not be obvious, otherwise people could not be deceived. That is the whole message "be not deceived". Jesus never said "dont follow the evil one". He warned us over and over - "be not deceived" and the bible speaks of "strong delusion".
Additionally, contemporary Christianity has not let it sink in that Christ and the Apostles were warning believers against deception. Of course deception takes many forms, such as the belief that we do not have to sacrifice our desires or deny ourselves for the sake of Christ and His kingdom - or the belief that the commandments are abolished, thereby watering down the truth of the words "everyone that has this hope purifies himself, even as He (Christ) is pure. 1Jn 3:3

As a former atheist, I finally met Jesus on my own. Then I started reading the scripture. Through that scripture, I learned about Jesus, the clear conclusions of scripture, and biblical salvation. As I continued investigating the Bible, it dawned on me that modern Christians really do believe that Sunday is the new day of rest. I’m still amazed at this.

As an Adventist, all I do is present the truth. It is up to The Holy Spirit to convict people of truth. This is why I love his posts. He does not force any beliefs, and just lays down the beliefs that each person has. One of my best friends is a Calvinist, and we do not hold similar beliefs, but it is my view that before Jesus comes, He will give all a chance to decide for themselves what is truth and error. My biggest problem is the once saved always saved, which he has a different view of. That if you are truly saved you can never fall away. That God has you in His hand, and it is a different look at it, and in some ways I can agree with him in a wider more accepting idea who is saved.

The Bible and Bible alone will teach us all the truths that we need to know as christians and bible believing followers of Jesus Christ. But we need the power of the holy spirit to enlighten our minds about the hidden truths in the Bible. We praise God that he is still leading his church today and into the future.

What I don’t understand it the Lord specifically says to worship in the Seventh Day yet most churches are worshiping in the first day. That is straight out disobedience to the Law of God.
