@@BeholdenToTheRiff Thank you for asking! How to apply psychedelic effects with wall of sound distortion and what effects to use? Phaser? Flanger? Envelop filter? Example: the ending of I, Witchfinder from Electric Wizard's dopethrone. Cheers!
Hi, dude! Your videos helped me a lot to find the right tone for my bass. I also have a Fender Precision Bass, and now I'm playing in a doom band with C standard tuning. You've also helped me a lot with stunning setup tips and everything else. As soon as possible we will record the first song. Cheers from Brazil! Even though my gear is a bit simpler, I managed starting to achieve the brutal sound that I really like, and the guys in the band are also loving it. Cheers from Brazil
This is helpful! I'm new to pedals, thanks for posting this, really loving the Fowlsounds! 😅 I have a BOSS distortion pedal and want to add a chrous pedal into it just to hear what it sounds like together,I need a battery adapter already because I already drained the battery on my distortion pedal.
I got the Strymon compadre solely because of this video and goddamn was it worth it!!! love the videos boss, they have thought me so much it's not even funny... could you do another video of you just building a pedalboard? over the last year I have been constructing my very own pedalboard of doom and just watching people build and explain their boards is so much fun for some reason. (loved your content!!!)
Just saying, Jered-one of the most useful videos I’ve seen on pedalboard setup anywhere. A lot of people just learning how to do this will benefit immensely from this presentation. When I started out (in biblical times), this all seemed very daunting to me. I love how logical and accessible you make it. That shows your chops as a teacher (I’m a college teacher myself-so this is high praise). No wah pedal, though: what would Geezer and Al say? (J/k) 🤘
This is great! I also approach gain staging by gradually increasing from mild ODs to batshit insane fuzzes. I also approach it that way with my HX stomp.
hey dude first sorry for the bad spelling (danish dude) just wanted to tell u that u make some really dope vids and u are amazing at making some really helpful videos thank u for some seriously informative and dope content
Nice work. I ended up getting a case for my board, even though I doubt it'll ever leave my house, just easier to keep it all safe from the kids messing with it.
It would be amazing if you reviewed The Megalith by MountainKing Electronics, Al Cisneros used the prototype on a lot of Om and Shrinebuilder tracks. I never see anyone doing in depth reviews like you do with your reviews.
Hi Jared, I had a question on bass guitars. In India it is very hard to find a Precision Bass not even a Squire. They are always sold out. What I can afford and get my hands on is a MIM Fender Jazz Bass but I wasn't sure how it would sound in a Stoner Doom context.
@@BeholdenToTheRiff You are such an awesome guy. I wasn’t expecting a reply so soon as this is an older video. So Jazz Bass it is. Like always, Keep It Heavy! Thanks once again.
i find it rather encouraging to see someone in a place far away from where i am, who is playing stoner rock. knowing it's everywhere is a pretty cool thought. doom on, brother
The jazz bass is surprisingly super versatile in sludge or doom metal or at least it surprised me. Anyhow it’s an old comment but someone else may see this so here is another vote of confidence.
Really enjoyed this build, I'm working on putting together a selection of pedals for a doom/stoner band with my buddies and had been pigeonholing myself in to only looking at bass-specific pedals, but cool to see you using a variety of guitar fuzz and effects. That Fowlsounds Obsidian is sick, may need to look into one!
I own a boss DS-1 I'm going to buy an SD-1 and a dunlop crybaby to get the full Al Cinseros bass tone. I own an 1986 Ibanez Roadstar II RB650 bass which is old school badass like a Honda CBX motorcycle.
Hei man, love your tutorials and the overall work you put into your videos! Keep it up! On a side note, what pedal would you absolutely recommend to start with?
Very cool man, loved the different types of fuzz and distortion you got here. What are the first 2 songs you had playing in the background as you were setting up the pedal board?
Enjoyed the video, but like the other popular doom channels, you've obviously got some serious cash to splash. Welcome to the real world- a Big muff and a DS1. Portable and just as awesome-sounding...
Hey man, I'm looking to start playing bass but in a very casual way. I love doom and was wondering, can I get a good tome with a cheap bass and not very expensive pedals/amps? Thanks!
That’s awesome that you started to play bass! You can definitely get good tone without buying a bunch of gear. A big muff bass pedal will do the trick🤘
Do you have any experience with the Digitech Drop pedal? I have two basses tuned to E-standard and E-flat for the band I play in, but on my own I'm interested in playing a lot of what you cover on your channel. A Drop pedal seems like a cleaner way to go than buying another bass and setting it up for C-standard, etc. Thoughts? Thank you and keep up the great work.
The Digitech Drop pedal is pretty cool and a great option for learning riffs and having fun. That being said, when it’s time to get serious it’s time to get another bass🤘
@@BeholdenToTheRiff it’s because the circuit of a fuzz needs that low impedance signal from your humbuckers directly, without buffers or pedals in between. Worth giving it a go

Before wiring all up, i would have checked the tone sucking of each pedal by connecting the pedal directly to the amp.
Good idea! I am familiar with all of these pedals, but would have been a helpful reminder to put in the video🤘
What is tone sucking and what can I do if I discover that one of my pedals exhibits that behavior? Do I just not include it on the board?
